Spectacular sunset view from the covered but open dining room. This is a real, seafood restaurant with excellent choices and variety of fresh fish, clams, mussels and lobster. This is a gem.
Only downside is that I found this gem on the last night of the season. Living in NYC I eat out way more than I would like to admit and can honestly say this is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Ambience, service and food were spectacular. We were a party of 4. We all had seafood appetizers and seafood main dishes. I couldn't pick a favorite because everything was spectacular (nice problem to have)!
Amazing spot to watch sunset, fresh and creative food, friendly atmosphere
The food is always delicious, staff great but the evening we went - not so good. I have been there a number of times and always loved - the view, the scene, the food so I was disappointed that the host and our waiter were less than helpful - waited 20 minutes for a drink (I finally had to go up to the host and request a waiter) - no apologies from the waiter - nothing. Talk about setting the tone for the evening and that's the way it went! End of season blahs?
Ate here two nights in a row, the second night was better than the first, food was good service was friendly and we didn't have to wait as long as the first night. Will go back again next season.
bug, bugs, bugs!!!
sat down and one dropped on my head
when i told the staff that the place was full of bugs (there were all over the ceiling they were dismissive and said the bugs congregated around the lights
the place is a rip off! $39 for a little plate of food
The food was very good, bartenders and servers were very attentive but the wait for the food was a little too long (the couple sitting next to us got up and walked out after waiting 30 minutes for their appetizer to show up) a little pricey but given the location it was expected, considering its the end of their season we tolerated the shortcomings.
Menu has been changed to eliminate some items and raised food price by 15 to 20% on all items except salads. Price increase does not correspond to quality and quantity of food, especially quality. Food what we ordered was blend and tasteless. Hope it was one off day for the chef. We will give another try hoping to see improvements on quality of food. Until then, will not recommend to any of our friends.
I find that on Mondays and Tuesday's the food is not consistent with what you would get on Thursday-Sunday. .
This is also typical with many other restaurants. It's possible the head chef is off those days!!!
Always a very pleasant time. Excellent food, beautiful setting and very pleasant welcoming and friendly service from beginning to end. Exceptional people. Highly recommend.
What was to be our first wonderful dinner in East Hampton was far from nice. From the beginning the host was rude, we asked to be seated at another table, he replied NO and dropped the menus on the table and walked off. So for the next hour and a half I was bumped into no less than 50 times by guests and staff as we were stuck at the worst table in the restaurant. The totally hyped out waiter was only interested in turning his tables as fast as possible, rushing us at every turn. Our appetizer had not even been cleared when the entrees arrived. For dessert, he fired off the list of options expecting us to immediately decide and when I asked for a list he acted put out. You had to beg to get your water glass refilled and the bread is generic. Really disgusting when you are dropping easily $250 a couple, thinking you are going to have a relaxing upscale fine dining experience. The service was the equivalent you would get at a local diner. The food was not bad but totally overshadowed by the rest of the experience. If you are looking for a restaurant with lots of arrogance and attitude, horrible service with OK food and a nice view then this is your place. But trust me, you can definitely do far better than this and we would never in good faith recommend this place. At the most maybe get a drink at the bar for sunset and then go elsewhere!
My friends and I have been dining here since it opened. Yes, the food is consistently delicious, however the service has really declined. I made friends with some of the very professional staff over the 3 years it's been opened. I was looking forward to going back not only for the fantastic food, but to see these people I had befriended. Much to our dismay, they have left BBK.
We now know why they left. Same owners, different waitstaff...the only issue...it seems that they have done their best to hire everyone under the age of 25. They need much more training on how to take orders, clear tables and not to throw utensils down on the table. Trust me, my friends and I are not hard to please, but until the service improves with ppl that actually care about their customers feeling like an $18 crab cake appetizer is not just a crab cake, there may be no reason to return for dinner. The bar is great for sunsets and cocktails.
Love this place. Sam is the best bartender!! Food is fantastic
Great spot - lovely view. Food is always delicious.
A place to have great food with exceptional service. Great ambiance and just enjoyable overall.
Have been to this restaurant several times. Prior to this was last summer on a Saturday of 4th of July week and the staff could not manage the crowd. Food has always been superior but service then was really bad. This time our experience was absolutely perfect and fully redeemed our patronage and accolades! Very glad we gave this another chance.
Give zero regard to food allergies. We left without eating anything because we were served food that could not be consumed. The hostess was awful. Made us wait over an hour for our table when other people who came in after us were seated before us. I would never recommend this restaurant to someone.
Reservation not honored. Waited 30 minutes. Service poor. Plates not cleared until next course arrived. Wine
Ordered needed 20 minutes to arrive. Service lacking
The view was beautiful. Hostess was very kind. Our waitress was horrible. She asked for our orders without telling us the specials. She never gave us bread or refilled our water. Our entrees took 30 minutes to come after our appetizers. The octopus was burned and frito mis to was over-fried. When I asked why we didn't get bread her response was "that's a good question" and nothing more. Bad experience.
Drinks watered down and warm. Waited too long for replacement. Food not warm and lobster dried out. Service was too fast for apps and mains. Felt like a dinner. Server brought food and left without giving utensils. I won't go back.
We had a great meal at Bay Kitchen. The black bass special and the crudo/serviche tasting was excellent. The wine list is well chosen and fairly priced. The beautiful sunset added to the wonderful experience.
We absolutely loved our dining experience. The drinks were excellent. My steamers were perfect and flavorful. The octopus was cooked to perfection. Gorgeous view of the bay!
The right mix of new and old Hamptons. Fancy enough for me, casual enough for my hubs. Although this spot is way off the beaten path, it was worth the hike.
On this visit, the kitchen was solid, service good, and the place delightful. However, a setting sun was both hot and blinding with no shades to filter it.
Beautiful setting over the marina. Must get there for sunset. Food is very fresh and expertly prepared. We will definitely go back!
I ordered the crab cakes and they were amazing. It's a very pretty place so make the most of it and get there before sunset.
Delicious food in a beautiful setting. It is an "energetic" atmosphere, but it all works.
Oysters taste as if they were just taken from the sea, the watermelon capirina is perfect and the view is serene.
Great restaurant, excellent service and the food was delicious. And the view is magnificent.
worst possible service ever! asked for OLIVE OIL three times...then when they finally brought it..they brought HONEY!
ordered second drink which came after dinners were finished! FINISHED with BAY KITCHEn! gave this place many many chances..and never improves!
The restaurant was very nice but I think overrated. Drinks were good, service great. Meals were well prepared but not exceptional.
We had sea bass and fluke and both were delicious. The wine was recommended by the sommelier and it was excellent although quite pricey as is everything in the restaurant.
We ordered a lobster clam bake and a 2 pound lobster entrées. The lobsters were not cleaned they were filled with green gew and muddy green water. This is not fine dining. The hostess with red hair was extremly rude!! What a shame. Please consider yourself adviced. Management should train their staff for friendliness and cleanliness.
The view is beautiful especially at sunset! We enjoyed the food, great menu, very fresh fish and nice rose. Will be back!!
Went to Bay Kitchen with my wife and adult daughter. First we ordered a dozen oysters. They were fresh and delicious. Next we ordered from the Price Fix menu. We ordered fried Calamari with fried vegies, and steamed mussels. Then came the salads, which were crisp and cold, just right. For the entrée my wife had the Grouper and my daughter and I had Sea Scallops. For dessert we ordered Strawberry Shortcake and gelato. Everything was really very good and the presentation was very nice. The service was great and we never had to ask for more ice water. We had two drinks each and were never pushed to order more drinks. We were not rushed and the food came out at just the right times. Our waiter was very attentive and he had a great personality.
The view is probably the best in the Hampton's and the Sunsets at Bay Kitchen are breathtaking. We will be going back very soon.
The food was fresh and the kitchen made an effort to be creative, succeeding half the time.
The desserts were a mess. Our server was extraordinarily patient and attentive and the best thing at the restaurant besides the view of the sun setting into the blue waters.
Professionally run, sufficiently so to deal with the onslaught of the summer.
Horrible customer service after dining and spending a lot of money in s two week period of time they could not add two additional seats for my daughters 21st birthday. I won't be dining there anymore.
All In Excellence
Great upbeat staff ~ truly not one disappointment ~ Mussels and Steak were delish along with the awesome "Not to be Missed" Loster Roll ~ with chunks of Lobster Meat ~ save room for Key Lime dessert with the die for Meringue and crisp crust and the ICE CREAM POUND CAKE!!!
Much improved from last year and when it opened. The operation was not managed totally unorganized in almost every aspect except the bar. Although we were early things were calm. The Oysters were larger then in the past, the horseradish was NOT hot so the raw shaved effect did not help. Lemon NOT orange or lime needed for the raw bar items, same with Lobster no Lemon came
The Rose is still a cheap , disappointing barely drinkable, and to many local beers on tap put on a Presidente, or Stella we support enough local , offer what is drinkable. The Lobster Roll was very good & the fries. Lobster fine. The most impressive was that Egg whites were used to make the Pisco Rhubarb sour! The waiter was articulate, clean cut,and bright. And the Jamaican Bus Boy was good (not always the case with those staff members) The one male server that did not wear an apron I had no idea what his job was as he had two earrings, the typical street cloths, styled black hair but no apron so how would you know he was a server like the others
Bay Kitchen Bar is having an even better season than previously -- and that is saying a lot. The food remains excellent (the fish is so fresh and tasty), the service this summer has impressed me as better than other restaurants and you get such a wonderful, scenic view of the harbor and sunset.
