Located in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood, Bateau is a beef-centric, French inspired restaurant with fresh, local ingredients and bold flavors. Bateau has an extensive wine selection including local and imported wines.

Our crew warmly welcomes you as we slowly and carefully reopen our dining room. You can expect a very different, thoughtful, and exciting experience on your next visit, as we will be offering a preset menu that showcases Bateau's story and concept, from start to finish. Each tasting menu is $125 per guest.

This is the best restaurant in Seattle. Renee Erickson and her team continue to go above and beyond to create incredible food experiences with top tier service. It's a joy to have them back after many months of pivoting to takeaway.

Great place for a special event. Service is beyond top notch: great at explaining how everything works, incredibly knowledgeable, and just incredibly nice. Food was cooked perfectly, this was easily one of the best steaks I've had. Looking forward to coming back here, although I'm concerned about how loud it would be. There doesn't seem to be much in the way of noise dampeners and tables are a little cozy.

The food was amazing. Everything from the Beef Heart appetizer to the 63 day aged Sirloin Tip. We especially loved our server Emily. She was extremely knowledgeable on the cuts. She learned about our preferences in meat and recommended exactly what we liked. She was attentive and a pleasure to converse with.

A perfect unison of ingredients, service and atmosphere. Slightly over priced for the average joe. But the unique experience is worth it if you go into it knowing to eat slowly and savor because it will be a big bill.

Loved the meal and the service was excellent. My one critique is to perhaps keep the music a bit lower. It felt at times that the music was of a volume one would expect at the end of the night when the staff is cleaning up the restaurant for the night.

The steak was fantastic the rest of the meal was okay. I wish we were seated in a different area. They have a large chalk board with the daily steaks listed and every few minutes someone was coming by with a large stick to cross something out. Kindof ruined the meal.

11/10. You cannot do better for a nice dinner out (assuming you eat steak). Everything was spectacular: great steaks, including some very unique cuts. Great a la cart veggies and sides, also much more unique than typical steakhouse fare. The food was rich without being too heavy. Impeccable service, both the hostess and servers were courteous and genuinely interested in helping us choose steaks and enjoy our evening. We never felt rushed. It was a really perfect meal.

Loved this experience. Everyone was nice- hostess, server and other staff were friendly, accommodating and made great menu recommendations. Both of our steaks were perfectly seasoned, cooked and I loved the lemon butter! Highly recommend

The most fantastic hamburger I've ever had! Absolutely phenomenal! The place is super nice for date night, the steaks are cooked excellently (if ordering them might be a little daunting), the drinks are all very good & the place is cozy but not all crammed up.

If you like steak and you're not a good cook and you're willing to pay A LOT for a piece of steak and you like knowing where the cow lived before it became your meal, you will like this place. The food was very good. But we make steak that tastes just as good or better at home with no special equipment and no relationship with a farm. I was also pretty flummoxed by the fact that the chef refused to remove the rye cracker from the "Rueben" to make it GF. We ordered it anyway and removed the rye ourselves but it would have been easy for him to do in the kitchen. It indicated a complete lack of interest in us as the customer and just reeked of snobbery. We will not go back.

I am so upset about our experience last night. We’ve been hoping to try Bateau for a few years and thought for my birthday 🎂 we would book ahead of time. The restaurant is charming in appearance but don’t be fooled. This is a warning. The food and prices - especially the wine are obnoxiously priced. $100 per bottle of wine. The rude stuck up waiter who knows nothing about wine and didn’t even offer us bread- i guess you need to ask for it. For 4 of us our bill was 750$! I’d rather go to Canlis or better yet get a new purse. The salad was the best thing on the menu. Steaks are sliced but somewhere in the kitchen the juice is left behind. When plated its dry chewy and who needs butter slathered all over your steak? The desserts are strange. What about a chocolate gateau, Bateau?
Oh! When we quickly left to go home to drink one of our nice bottles of Leonetti together- we saw a plant based ice cream shop! That looked much better than a $700 meal at Bateau that was in unsatisfactory, unsatisfying and upsetting. I wish we could have a redo on my birthday dinner but sadly I cannot. Lesson learned the hard way. IF you ignore this review- my advice- ask for free bread and a hamburger that’s apparently NOT on the menu and maybe 1 glass of wine $22 which will make me and your wallet feel much better.

Get there about an hour after it opens so you can have more meat choices! The burger reviews are the real deal. It's not on the menu but it is really good. They use the scraps of all the cuts that they have so it's quality and delicious meat. We had a ribeye (w/bone marrow butter) and a Denver steak (with brown butter) and I would have to say the bone marrow steak is extremely good and completely makes the steak. The drinks are a bit pricey. Overall it's a great experience and definitely worth it. There are also alot of variety cuts to choose from (ranging from $20-$150+), so the price is what you make it.

We had the most amazing dinner in a super classic, understated, open, airy restaurant. I booked it for my husbands birthday. We loved our food! Our waiter was very nice and made us feel so comfortable. Best filet I’ve every had. We split an order of mashed potatoes which were so tasty, and also got the salad and pickled veggies - so so good! I highly recommend this restaurant for a special date. Pricy, but entirely worth every penny.

We were greeted warmly when we walked in the door of Bateau. The welcome continued for the entire time we were at the restaurant. The food was glorious and our server, Jessica, was knowledgeable, friendly and timely as she checked in to make sure the food was to our liking. What a treat!

Pricey, but absolutely perfectly cooked steaks and definitely worth the price. I’d recommend you let the staff walk you through the cuts based upon your personal tastes, I’m glad I did. Overall great experience, good vibe, and great service.

The appetizers and shared plates were excellent, but the steak was mediocre, especially for the price. The model is interesting, but difficult, with dozens of cuts to choose from, many of which I'd never heard of, so I let the server guide me to a choice, and we ended up sharing three cuts between four of us, and none were great. And of course we spent over $600 for the 4 of us, so I'd prefer a more traditional steakhouse where instead of selling the whole cow, they are only selling the best cuts.

This is an interesting place that emphasises that it is a different steak house. I do however think that good steaks don't need to be drowned in butter sauces, and that the natural flavours should be allowed to shine. For me: butter doesn't make everything taste better.

Steaks and carbs are fantastic at Bateau. But where are the green salads? The salads they have are also rich and they should offer more simple vegetables as well. The yellow beets weren't very appetizing and weren't soft enough either (surrounded by butter/oil also). Why rich brioche toast vs. bread on the bread/butter request? Everything is WAY too rich on the menu.
The tables are WAY too close together so it is hard to have a romantic or intimate experience. The waiters have a really hard time getting in AND everyone around them gets to here the long lecture on the meats of the night.
Cocktails are out of this world. Red wines not so much. Very surprising that they don't have more than one Cab. The one they offer is a Cab-Merlot and is $22/glass, thank you very much! The other red wines per glass aren't great with steak. What are they thinking?
We used to come here for special date night occasions but will be looking around at other restaurants now. Kind of sad about that.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Bateau! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was great. The food is fantastic and the steak ordering experience is truly unique. We shared our entire meal, including apps, a Top Sirloin and Denver, and the pine shoot ice cream for dessert was the perfect ending. A bit expensive, so wouldn't go often, but for special occasions, I would strongly recommend!

Do not get the 5 course meal. They basically serve you the parts of the cow they can’t sell, its EXTREMELY salty, flavors are not balanced at all. It’s only strange cuts of meat and pickled anything, you really just want a piece of bread by the end of it. Then you get charged an arm a leg and 3 fingers. We made a mistake and should have gotten a steak.
