Basil’s Restaurant and Tapas Bar Ratings and Reviews
Our first visit in many years. As they had several large parties, we had to sit in the enclosed deck area but while a little cold, it was fine. The owner and clientele were a hoot and we were able to watch the last of the Falcons game! The food is really good and the prices are very reasonable as long as you don't order wine that isn't listed on the wine list! The variety is excellent, especially the middle eastern dishes but the paella was great, loaded with fish and seafood. We all enjoyed everything we ordered and look forward to our next visit.
We enjoyed a lovely dinner to celebrate my birthday. we started with Ceviche and then for dinner my husband had Kale and Spinach salad and the Burrata Mozarella salad. I enjoyed the Paella - which was enough for two people. I strongly recommend this restaurant as a nice place to enjoy a cocktail and dinner.
Food outstanding, staff was great. Hostess terrible gave me a very bad first impression. I reserved my table via open table. And she advised me she couldn't seat me I had to sit outside if I wanted a table to myself. (Outside on the patio when it is 40°).
I decided to dine at the bar and the staff was totally great but the hostess, never ever smiled wonder if she even likes working in the establishment. Did not find that quite welcoming
My husband and I went here for Christmas dinner. The ambiance and service was excellent. The noise level was perfect for conversation. We could hear each other but not the people next to us. And they had a belly dancer! She did her thing at intervals throughout the night. Every now and then they would turn up the music and she would come out. Very enjoyable performance! I had the chicken and my husband had the ribeye. Chicken was so so but he enjoyed the steak. Would definitely recommend the chocolate mousse cake and the chocolate mousse trilogy for dessert.
We were visiting Atlanta and chose Basils from a AAA listing. Our meals were delicious. The food was fresh and creative. We split crab spring rolls as an appetizer, had salmon and veal marsala for dinner and lemoncello cake for dessert. We enjoyed it all. Our server was very attentive. There were several large parties so the noise level was probably a little more than normal. We would definitely go back if in the area.
This restaurant is an undiscovered gem. The food is consistently excellent with some specials very night. We had the ceviche and greek salad for starters - the former has a little orange juice to soften the citrus, - then seared tuna and salmon with barbecue sauce - both excellent. Tuna was incredibly tender and sat on a bed of mushroom risotto. Highly recommended. Great service and reasonable wines.
This is a regular go-to restaurant for us, and this was another great meal. The tuna tartare was delicious with very thin tasty bread crisps. Similarly, the grouper special was cooked perfectly and served upon request on one of my favorites, mushroom risotto. The 'deconstructed' paella is also delicious. Service is always attentive but not overbearing or aimed at rushing you out. Fridays they have a very talented Brazilian guitarist, Ernaldo, to add to the atmosphere. Highly recommended.
Was eating on my own for this outing. The restaurant is located in a former small home so it is cozy seating. I arrived early and there was plenty of seating with valet parking. It was filling up as I left at 7:45. My server was attentive and I was thrilled that my glass of wine was a full pour. I will return just for this ! The food was great and the vegetables were outstanding. Outdoor seating is available with heaters.
The space is charming yet sophisticated. The service was excellent. We started with tapas- Mediterranean mezze, baked Brie and Kibbel rolls (A-mazing flavor). For entrees we had their grouper special, paella with tons of seafood and chorizo (made more like a seafood rice soup rather than traditional paella in Spain, which was a plus for us), and the scallops. The prices are reasonable for the area. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our food as well as sharing bites of each other's. I really have no complaints, and all of us said we will definitely be back. Can't wait to check out the patio on a nice afternoon for lunch!
We had a wonderful "co-celebrant" birthday. Wonderful food, table and ambiance. A very special night for our family. Many, many thanks for YEARS of this being our "go to place"...Mother's Day, Birthdays...Thank you Joseph and all your staff. Another wonderful night. So special to have a restaurant we know we can go to and know we have ultimate service...in a city (Atlanta)
We sent a note to the restaurant requesting a table outside as it was a birthday celebration. The outside wasn't available at all , due to chilly weather I presume, but no reply offered to our request. Inside they seated us right next to the only other occupied table, so our cozy meal became a group conversation. Fine, but not as we requested. The food and service were excellent .
This is my third time at Basil's this year, and the food and service are consistently good. Great place to take out of town business colleagues for good food in a quiet environment where you can have a reasonable conversation without competing with loud music, TVs, and other diners. Both trout and tuna were excellent, as was pizza-like appetizer and mezze and antipasto platters.
Enjoyed two appetizers, entrees, and desserts.. we cleaned our plates for each. Our waitress was there when we needed her but not hovering, and the manager/owner treated us to an extra glass of wine. It was great experience, and we will return. Also, loved the live solo guitarist playing instrumental music. Cheers Basil's!
Good food, service and ambience. The only reason I gave it a moderate on noise level was because we were seated fairly near a little combo playing. Otherwise it would have been quieter. I have been many times over the last 20 years and will definitely be back.
