Crab cakes were amazing! All the items we tasted were made with care and celebrated the ingredients. Great wine selection. Would definitely go again!
Great atmosphere and attentive friendly employees. The French Dip Sandwich was extremely delicious with a very generous amount of meat. Willing to travel the 40 plus miles for The French Dip!
Food was bad, felt very rushed, just not good overall, will not be going back, ever, which is a shame, Barrett’s was always one of my favorite restaurants

My experience at Barrett's Grill on January 10, 2020, was a perfect storm. I arrived on time for my 12:45 p.m. reservation only to be told that I would have to wait twenty minutes for a table. When I explained that I had a reservation, the young lady at the hostess stand told me that the restaurant had a large number of reservations that afternoon. I stared at the computer screen which was right in front of me and saw that her statement was untrue. She then explained that there had been numerous walk-in customers. I asked why the restaurant accepted reservations if they were not going to be honored. Throughout the exchange, the hostess was pleasant enough. Suddenly, another woman who worked at the restaurant appeared and was extremely rude. I asked to talk with the manager, who was quite competent; he quickly identified and readied a table that had just emptied.
A server, a young man, appeared and took my order as well as the orders of two women who joined me. The server seemed distracted; I asked for sweeteners, which he forgot. I had to remind him. I ordered fries, which he forgot to bring. I had to ask the manager to check on them. (I should have tipped him in accordance with his performance. Shame on me! I tipped too much. How will he learn?)
I've dined at the restaurant on numerous occasions. This experience was an aberration of sorts. To be fair, the food there is consistently good. In spite of this positive, I doubt that I'll return at any point soon. I was extremely offended by the way that the second woman at the hostess stand talked to me.

Seated at spot looking directly at busy (noisy) kitchen entrance exit. Asked hostess to move & although she provided another table it was accomplished in as unpleasant an attitude as possible. Asked her if she had never had a patron ask to move a table before & she said NEVER!
At late lunch there’s appeared to be 3 waitresses (could have missed one) who were very busy (bussing own tables & setting up). However, it also appeared that they were helping each other so that service was attentive with refilling drinks and such. As an aside there were also two hostesses and another man opening the door. Strange allocation of resources.
Food was good; Brussels sprout side dish recipe may have changed. Couldn’t eat it, although have ordered and liked it on
previous visits. Kind of mushy not crisp as I recalled; possibly from yesterday.
Will be back probably as it is convenient to movie theater and prices are ok. Would not pick for a special evening out.
William was fantastic! My mother and I came for brunch as part of my Christmas gift to her. He was friendly, attentive, brought us samples of their popular cream of corn crab soup before our meals, and a delicious dessert on the house. The food was amazing too! Will definitely be back!

We shared a delicious app called Shrimp Cargot — served in an escargot dish with butter and cheese — as well as a bottle of Malbec (½ price bottles that day). The crab and toasted corn soup was wonderful, the wedge salad a bit large for a “small salad.”

Made reservations but still had to wait. The seating wasn’t the best. Say where my chair kept getting bumped by people walking by. Overall experience was good.
Barrett's Grill is generally one of our favorites but fell short of our expectations on New Year's Eve. Our party of 4 was seated promptly at the time of our reservation and proceeded to order cocktails. After a considerable wait, we inquired as to the status our drinks and were told the bar was backed up. After additional time passed, we inquired again and were told by the server she would check. When our drinks finally made it to the table, the ice had completely melted causing us to question how long our drinks sat unattended.
Our Bacon wrapped scallops and Shrimp Cargot appetizers were outstanding, as were our main courses of Prime Rib and Filet.
Following coffees and dessert, we requested our bill and found a charge for an extra dessert that we didn't have. Our server went to correct it but returned with a subsequent bill that was still wrong. While the one erroneous dessert was removed, another was added. The apparent confusion was the result of one of our party ordering from the Prix Fixe menu, which included dessert. Rather than spend more time on New Year's eve discussing accounting, we paid the bill and moved on.
We have always been impressed by the quality of food and level of service at Barrett's, which influenced our choice in making our New Year's Eve dining reservations. Based upon our experience, staffing was inadequate to provide the level of service one reasonably expects on a special night.

We were there on New Years Eve & had a reservation. We were seated immediately and the wait staff was right on point. Food was fabulous. The only complaint I had was the noise level. Of course, the restaurant was full & that made it loud, but I could have done without the cello & saxophone

It was New Years Eve. They had a special 3-course menu you could order from, or not and most of us took advantage of that. The food was delicious and the service was great. Everyone loved it.

Had 8:00 p.m. reservations. Upon arrival, told there would be a short wait, and informed hostess we would wait in the bar. Waited 30 minutes to be called -- decided at that time to eat in the bar. Told hostess upon leaving that we were disappointed we were never called for our reservation. She said the manager came into the bar looking for us -- bar area is extremely small, and feel it would have been impossible for the manager to have missed us. Food and bar service good, but would have preferred having our reservation honored.

Great food, service, and value. This place is consistently good. The only issue is every time someone enters the restaurant there is a very bitter cold draft that runs straight through the seating area during the winter. I think that maybe adding a winter buffer to the front doors would help. We used to live in the upper Midwest and this type of entrance buffer was common place in the winter. May be worth a try.

The food and service at Barrett's is always excellent! My husband and I have eaten here many times and have always had a great time. If you like a quiet dinner atmosphere, go before 6PM.

Went there for our anniversary, it was ok but very loud and felt like our server was rushing us through. Didn’t ask about refills. The food was delicious just wish there was more for the price you paid.

Barrett's Grill is a really nice informal place for lunch and dinner. I recently took 5 staff members for lunch. Service was very friendly but slow and, at times, confused. The food was good. The 6 of us had a wide variety of items from the menu and everyone enjoyed his/her food. The desserts were great.

We hadn't been for quite a while, but it was consistent with our memory of very good American cuisine with generous portions. A little noisy and difficult disability parking due to the proximity of the theater, but food and service very good.

Even though Barrett's Grill is adjacent to large mall, it's one of the few good places in the area. All of the staff was super nice and helpful. The ambiance is pretty quiet, but not library quiet - we could engage in conversation without yelling, plus we weren't so close to the next table that we got to hear their conversation. My food was pretty good. The starter salad with mixed greens, goat cheese and candied walnuts was tasty. I had the fish special, which was overcooked and too dry. The rest of the vegetables with it were fine. My friend had the salmon special which seemed cooked well, but not so overcooked. Overall, I would give it a try again.

Ok, I know it was Thanksgiving, but nothing on the menu for a vegetarian? Nothing? It's been years since I went to a restaurant and couldn't find at least an appetizer or two, or a single entree. My choice was kale salad. And the special soup: butternut squash (which came with bacon, even after I mentioned I was a vegetarian.) I didn't want to make a special request because it was Thanksgiving and the place was packed, but I was very disappointed. (And hungry.)
