We went for our Anniversary on Saturday night.
We got there early to have a cocktail at the bar. We were greeted by Alex, the manager. He organized our wedding party at another restaurant and it was perfect!
We were so happy to see him and he made our night special again.
best steak in the city! a trip for my birthday every year. Enjoyed by all!
Excellent dining. One of the top restaurants in the city. Very high end dining.
Fantastic experience. Service was on par with what I expected. Food and drink was top notch
Perfect place to splurge for my steak loving husband's birthday! Excellent food and service. Loved the ambiance.
Awful and ridiculously overpriced. First, they tried to seat us all the way in the back under an exit sign. When we refused the table, they sat us at a better one near the front. The portions were tiny (my scallop appetizer consisted of two medium sized scallops for $18). The 8 oz. filet mignons shrank down to tiny portions after being cook. The wait staff got half of the entrees wrong. Dinner for 4 people, including two rounds of drinks, tax and tip came to almost $700! Never again...
Service and food make for a pleasant dining experience as usual.
The overall atmosphere is nice but the music was loud enough that we had trouble talking across the table. Our server even had trouble hearing us at one point and forgot to bring our appetizer. The food was excellent.
Food was great. Chris was a professional and very attentive. My husband steak was well done not medium well. But it still tasted great. It was his bday and he recieved a slice. But we still order the banana creme brulee. Overall...I recommended. I love the knife options.
First of all, our waiter, Matthew, was excellent. Very attentive but not in an annoying way. Our steaks were great and the popover bread is always a favorite of mine. The décor an ambience were enjoyable. Nice selection of drinks, wine and beer. The "cookie" dessert was great. My husband ordered it (I ordered an after dinner drink), but of course I tasted his dessert and it was delicious. We will be going back again.
Best aged steak my husband ever had!
Great experience from start to finish. Everyone needs to treat themselves to this adventure at least once! Saving now to celebrate my birthday there again next year.
The back pillow is great for cuddle comfort afterward. Superior restaurant.
My boyfriend’s birthday
There were six of us at a table in the back with the lovely Jessica Hahn (sommelier and wait staff). Five of us had the US Kobe beef which was phenomenal and one had the Dover Sole, which he also raved about. The wine list was overwhelming, but with the help of Jessica and our focus on the French reds, we were able to have a wonderful Bordeaux first, and then moved to an even more amazing Chateauneuf de Pape! Somehow we still managed to have sorbets or ice creams, all made in house, to our delight. Highly recommended for a business dinner or special occasion. Not inexpensive, but worth it completely! Compliments to the chef, and especially to Jessica, who took phenomenal care of us.
Wow! I can’t say enough good things about our experience at Barclay Prime. We have been wanting to go since we saw the Philly Cheesesteak edition of “Worth It”.
We got there early and got a few drinks at Happy Hour. The staff was so friendly and the cocktails were great. We were seated for dinner and it was a really cool vibe. It’s like a warm cozy elegant library. At first it was kind of interesting, but ultimately we decided it was fun and we were all about it.
For an appetizer we got the colossal shrimp cocktail. Biggest shrimp I’ve ever seen in my life. It was delicious. They were huge and meaty and yummy. The bread for the table was also easily top 5 restaurant breads we’ve ever had. My husband said it was his favorite ever. Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Maybe like cheese in there somewhere? Delicious.
For entrees my husband got the cheesesteak and I got the American wagyu filet. Wow! We shared both. The filet was perfectly cooked, the most perfect steak crust I’ve ever seen, gave it like a crunch and a little smokey flavor. There was a little flaked sea salt that added the perfect texture and seasoning. The steak itself was like butter. We have been to tons of steakhouses, all the best in Philly and New York and this was definitely my favorite. We also had the au gratin potatoes which I highly recommend. I love potatoes. My husband jokes that I am going to turn into a potato because I eat so much of them. These were the best au gratin potatoes I’ve ever had.
The cheesesteak I was a little afraid of. The elements of what make a cheesesteak what it is are specifically not elevated. That’s the point. However, this was the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had. We decided that it kind of has to be in its own category. Like it almost doesn’t count as a cheesesteak. The wagyu melts in your mouth, and the cheese is next level. I got a part on the end that was all cheese and bread and it was just wow. We will definitely be returning!
It was amazing . Dimly lit . I def felt the business casual vibe.i was with my sister and we had enjoyed everything about the place . The food was marked as anyone would expect from a high end steakhouse . We had the sliders to begin, juicy and tasty . Main course was the Wagyu philly cheese steak and the Dover .... my sister said it was too tasty As in over seasoned I thought it was just right . The Dover had a lemon tho lemon sauce which def could’ve been taken down a notch but it was good as well. We had a plethora of sides such as Brussels sprouts, truffle Mac and cheese and truffle whipped potatoes . My favorite was the potatoes and the cheese steak. Above everything ... our waitress ; I wish I could remember her name was remarkable, she was friendly , upbeat, informative , and just so much fun and really sweet . Thank you barclay prime for making our trip to philly memorable
Great food. Great service. My favorite steakhouse/restaurant to go too. Not only are the steaks phenomenal, the sides and apps are just as good. Awesome wine list.
Amazing food and drinks even better experience.
Andrew, our waiter, was personable, kind, and welcoming. We love Barclay Prime and had another wonderful experience there for New Years Eve.
Best meal of my life. Worth every penny.
Wow! My husband and I visited Barclay Prime on a Saturday evening to celebrate our anniversary. We made our 7pm reservation about 6 weeks in advance. When we arrived, we were given the option to check our coats and were seated immediately. I don’t think I’ve ever used this word, but there’s no other way to describe it—this place is swanky. It gave me Mad Men vibes, only more modern. The seating is comfortable, and though the dining room was full, it never once felt crowded.
Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The pacing was perfect. We started with cocktails—I ordered the Metropolis which was amazing and my husband tried the Bourbon’s Eden which he enjoyed. We also shared and order of shrimp cocktail, which may have been the best (and biggest) we’ve ever had and the fresh, warm popovers were fabulous.
For entrees, we ordered a Filet and the dry aged Ribeye with sides of potatoes gratin and Brussels sprouts. The Filet was everything you would expect—tender and delicious, but the ribeye just may have been the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. The restaurant offers a selection of sauces on their menu—I can’t imagine using one because the steaks stand out so much on their own. The sides were also wonderful, but I would highly recommend the Brussels sprouts!
We received a delicious complimentary slice of cake for dessert, and we also ordered the frozen cappuccino desert to share. It was phenomenal and unlike anything else I’ve had.
Overall, I would recommend Barclay Prime to anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience. I have a new favorite restaurant and I can’t wait to go back!
Never disappointing, always great food and service.
Server was amazing!
I was at Barclay Prime with my wife, we both enjoy good food and drinks, so it was a good fit. We started with a Sidecar and a Metropolis at the bar, both were excellent drinks. We then went to our table were we ordered a bottle of champagne and a half bottle of cabernet franc to pair with our dinners. We started with the tuna tartar and seared scallops. The tuna was good, but nothing special. It did not have much flavor beyond the tuna and a hint of lemon. The scallops, however, were great, fresh and seared perfectly with great flavor and texture. They were very fresh tasting. Next, we have the beef carpaccio and a wedge salad. The wedge was fine for what it was, other wedges I have had had a mix of crumbled blue along with the dressing and some onion and tomato to add flavor, this was simply lettuce, bacon, and blue cheese dressing. The beef carpaccio was good, very light and fresh feeling as well, it was not smothered with arugula which was nice. For the main, we had butter-poached lobster, an American Waygu Strip, brussel sprouts and potatoes al gratin. The potatoes and brussel sprouts were fine, what you would expect at any steakhouse. The steak was amazing, cooked to perfection, seasoned and seared perfectly. It melted in your mouth. The lobster too was cooked perfectly. It was tender and juicy, and delicious. To finish off the meal, I ordered the key lime, raspberry cheesecake and it did not disappoint. It was light and fluffy, but still rich and creamy.
The service was good, the servers were attentive, and not over the top of you. With that said, the service was not great, just good.
I have been to a lot of steakhouses, this is one of the better ones, but I would say, based on this experience a but overrated but I would still give it another shot.
Amazing food! Amazing staff! Amazing atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back.
We love the Barclay, we wish we could get there more often. Each course is excellent, and the service is even better.
Expensive but good
The food was amazing all our dishes were absolutely delicious I had to poached lobster actually three of us had that and we had the Dover sole which was phenomenal and the crabcakes plus we have the carpaccio the wedge salad and a bottle of beautiful wine and some cocktails it was just an absolute beautiful evening
This was our 3rd Christmas Eve dinner at Barclay Prime and as always it was truly exceptional. The atmosphere was festive and the food was incredible. Probably one of the best steaks I have had in a long time. We will be back next year.
My parents and I came for Christmas Eve dinner. We ended up being in the lounge which I think was even better than the actual dinning room. When I walked into the dinning room to get to the restroom it was much louder with so many people talking. The lounge had a really nice ambiance and was a good volume.
Friendly, fantastic customer service. Comfortable and intimate atmosphere. Top quality and presentation.
A perfect dining experience!
This was our first time here. The food was AMAZING and the service was excellent. The portion sizes were larger than we expected as well. We will definitely be going back when we are staying in the area again!
As usual steak was amazing.
Broccoli Was way over Done (Burned)
Service by server was not to the standard, actually very poor, did not take time to explain, cut every question of ours short, he was completely off his game. Definitely not what we would expect at Barclay Prime. I wish that one of the managers would notice and at least try to make us feel more welcome.
On the other hand Bass men where amazing.
They put us as a no show and a wine glass spilled on me by waitress and they charged us for the glass
