Food was fantastic, sangria was tasty, and service was very good. Music was heard, but not overbearing to our conversation. Great last meal to a 10 day Canada vacation with high school friends!

It was a great experience. We were visiting from Vancouver and went to watch the champions league final. The lad at the entrance who I believe is the owner was great and gave us an awesome table to watch the game. And the server was also awesome throughout our time there!

Service was good, noise level made conversation difficult (OK - it is a tavern, so I should have expected that), food mediocre and only marginally connected to Barcelona. Probably a great place for an after work booze up, but no so good for a couple of old friends doing catch up.

Was a birthday celebration and it looked like they did not even check the reservation sheet to see. Also requested a standard table but were originally going to be sat at a high seat table. Food was mediocre at best. Would not recommend as there are so many better options out there.

Waitress staff were very polite and were as attentive as they could be -- it was lunchtime in downtown Calgary, and they were serving multiple tables. The restaurant was basically full, so the kitchen staff was dealing with lots of orders, all at the same time. We had a group of eight, so we ended up being seated at the back of the restaurant. What I didn't appreciate most was the bartender took a break around 1:15, while we were still eating, opened up the back door and lit up a cigarette. He (and perhaps others) basically stood by the door, which pulling all the outdoor air into the restaurant for air flow, and we all had to put up with his cigarette smoke for 5 or so mins. During this time there was no one to complain to (all the waitresses were busy), and I didn't realize that it was an actual staff member who was smoking until he came back inside and closed the back door. Everything was ok except for this, but this experience definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and the next time I book a group lunch, Barcelona Tavern is now very low on my list as a restaurant option.
