New Years Eve
Other than when my husband reached under his chair to pull himself closer to the table and the seat was split and clipped his finger, creating a bleeding flap. The server brought a bandaid immediately. The worse thing was the loud woman 4 tables over that kept dropping the “F” bomb, that’s not the restaurant’s fault. There are apparently some people who should not be allowed out in public.
Great wine, awesome food and excellent service from Anthony.
I do think they could add some grated part cheese or spices to the olive oil for dipping bread but all in all a nice evening.
Hostess was super rude when we first got there. Our actual server was fine. Food was just okay. Drinks were good! Probably wont ever go back. Not worth the $$$
While the waiter initially messed up our order, they not only made it right but went way overboard to do so. And the rainbow trout dinner was fantastic. The triple chocolate cake was phenomenal
The food was surprisingly underwhelming. And the atmosphere felt dirty. There were even graffiti tags painted in the men’s room. Sort of felt like nothing had been updated since 1995 including the cleaning.
Overall just fine. We had a lovely meal, food took a bit to receive but perhaps just indicates the care they put into it. Tiramisu was lovely !
As always, food was excellent - from beginning to end. Interesting and yummy concoctions.
We have been going to Bar Italia for the past 25 years, at least twice a year. It has always been a pleasure, good food, friendly staff, great ambience.
It was my first time to Bar Italia. The food was average, the drinks and service were excellent. The place needs a makeover as far as tables, chairs and decor. Very dated.
We had only eaten outside at Bar Italia before now. The patio is really nice—but the inside is really dated & worn. Definitely needs a facelift. Service was good, but food was only fair.
Delicious food as always! Patio is so cute!
Poor service this time. I watched several table after us get drinks before we were even approached by a server.
It took a good 15 minutes after we sat for a server to come over.
Server was not attentive and the bussers would clear my husbands plate from table after each course but for some reason left mine.
I pushed mine to side to hint I was finished but that did not work.
My wife and I had reservations and were seated promptly. We decided on outside seating and the ambience was wonderful. Wait staff was very courteous and helpful. Food was wonderful.
Always love Bar Italia!!!
Food good but not spectacular. Service a little rushed between salad and main course.
The food and service was great. The tiramisu was a little disappointing and might have been old, but our waiter was able to remove it from the check and was very apologetic about it.
Celebrating my husband’s birthday with his brother and wife. Love the proximity to The Chase Park Plaza where we were staying & the beautifully lit outdoor ambiance. Fresh homemade pasta is incredible. Also enjoyed the gazpacho and spinach salad with roasted salmon. Great service and lively atmosphere.
Great patio for outdoor dining. Short on staff, one of the managers stepped up and took care of us. Really enjoyed the evening
After ordering they brought bread to the table with NO butter or dipping stuff. We had to ask for something to dip bread in, they brought stale olive oil and nothing else. We had to ask for pepper and grated cheese. Then they brought our salad and an entre we DIDN't order. The guy said this is what you ordered, I said no. We ordered a pasta NOT a beef item. Then they brought the correct pasta but it was COLD. She said it's supposed to be served at room temp. what? Then we noticed both the salad and pasta didn't have all the ingredients the menu described. We questioned and she said they ran out of some of the ingredients so substituted with cashews and they didn't tell us in advance or ask if ok. What if I or my friend were allergic to cashews. Also the spinach salad was awful, no taste to the dressing. The entire experience was TERRIBLE. Never go there again. They did let us order a chicken item and return the pasta.
Food was very good and our server was very nice. Getting our food was a very slow process, but like everywhere else, minimal staffing at best. We appreciated the effort.
Would highly recommend! our food was excellent and wait staff was very attentive. It is a very cozy place to eat and unwind.
We were in town to drop our daughter off at WashU and wanted a nice dinner out. I’d heard about Bar Italia from a local WashU parent so we made a reservation. OMG, not sure what I expected but it exceeded all expectations!! We had some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had! Our waiter was very personable and rec’d a nice wine to go with dinner. The patio was so pleasant! Can’t wait to go back!!
I love this place! It's our standby, easy neighborhood italian restaurant with really satisfying dishes and a beautiful outdoor patio that is a really beautiful way to spend an evening of food, drink, and conversation with friends.
This place has always been amazing. It was our anniversary making them an obvious choice. They had a special appetizer watermelon salad with balsamic and feta. I had a veal ragu while my wife had a seafood pasta with scallops and shrimp.
Top notch service and a reasonable wine list.
Bar Italia is always a great place to dine on a beautiful summer evening. The patio is awesome, great food and service! Happy customers.
Lovely garden atmosphere. Delicious, fresh food. Great place to show off St Louis to friends.
Reliable and really excellent menu; delicious salads, locally sourced; entrees are varied and typically include veggie and meat options, all nicely presented. Beef tenderloin is really outstanding
Everything tasted amazing and was well curated. It’s decor is a bit outdated but they make up for it with service and quality.
We have been wanting to try this restaurant ever since we moved to St. Louis. We had some friends in town and had reservations to sit on the patio. We were quickly seated, however that was the quickest thing that happened all night. We were finally greeted by a server who brought us two glasses of water for four people. We were never greeted by our actual waiter until well into the evening and it was just a gruff “are you ready to order? It was frustrating waiting so long to order. When finally we ordered our drinks, it took a while to receive them and when the wine was brought in a bottle, the server left before he opened it. He had to come back and open it and tell us a few more things about the entrée specials, but only when we ask. The food was really great tasting, so that was a good part of it. However, it is unacceptable for reservations to be accepted if they don’t have enough staff to accommodate the diners. It will be a while if we go back.
Best service in a long time. Had a wonder butternut squash ravioli dish!
This was our first outing back from the pandemic, and we were able to reserve a table outside (socially distanced!) near the greenery where there was a lovely breeze. It was perfect! We got a nice crisp wine, carpaccio, the caprese & mixed greens salad (such amazing vinaigrette), and the mushroom penne and balsamic chicken as entrees. Finished with the most amazing expresso martini. Bar Italia was always my go-to for birthdays, date night or other occasions, so it was really nice to be able to return after 2 years.
Outdoor dining nice and safe. Could be made to look more attractive. Food great
It was great!
We made a reservation for outside, but when we arrived they said they didn't have a table outside for us. They didn't apologize nor ask if we wanted to wait until a table was ready, they just immediately sat us at a table. OK. The food was very good, but we were all disappointed to find out that when we asked our pasta to be changed to papparadelle we were charged an upcharge (which the server did not tell us about). The bread was excellent, our appetizers (bruschetta and caprese and beet salads) were delicious. The cocktails were very good. I was a little disappointed by the wine selection. The wine we ordered was apparently not available which we discovered when the bottle was presented to us and it was a different vintage year. Server didn't notice this and couldn't tell us anything about it. We asked several wine questions which she didn't seem to have any knowledge about......no big deal, but if that's the case and your table is interested in wine, you should bring over a wine expert on staff. Other than that, she was a wonderful server. One thing that bothered me was the bathroom........it was dirty and tired. The rails that supported the stalls had at least an inch of dust on them, and it was starting to drip down the side panels of the stalls. It takes serious effort to NOT clean that on the regular.
Great evening- delicious food!
Celebrated daughter’s graduation and the evening could not have been more perfect. Great setting, great service, and great food! Thank you!!
Always good! Great service and food
My salmon was really good, friend #1 had steak. She really liked it. Friend #2 had pork
In a white sauce. Pretty gluey.
We asked for a dessert nenue. We asked every 20 minutes, 3 times. Finally a guy came over and told us what was available.
I didn’t like that we had to wait an hour to find out what desserts you had.
Beautiful scenery, delicious food and cocktails. I have to give to 3 stars because the service was very lackluster. The waiter spent more time with the table next to us and I personally felt ignored. I understand places being short due to the pandemic but to watch your waiter’s demeanor change with 3 steps to another table is a turn off. Not sure if I want to give this place another try.
