Every bite was delicious! Excellent service! What more do you want from a beautiful restaurant.
Pro's: Good Food, friendly service, bar atmosphere
Con's: Prices, We had a group of five and the food was $201 before tip and wine. For those prices the service and seating ( very sparse - what you would expect at neigborhood casual place - benches, chairs) and pace of the service was not up to what it needs to be.
We absolutely love dining at Bar Avignon. The ingredients are farmed locally and prepared by chefs who love what they are doing. The wait staff is professional while at the same time being warm and welcoming. They have a great wine list and a full bar staffed by very talented mixologists. Dining at Bar Avignon is like dining at a dear friend’s home without the need to hang around to help with the dishes.
All night Happy Hour to celebrate warm weather! Great service! Great wine! Creme Brûlée! Wonderful!
Alway love Bar Avignon. Great food, on a menu that rotates frequently. Friendly and attentive service. Cozy ambience
I've been to Bar Avignon 12 times since August of 2014 when I moved to Portland. I have been a big fan but over the past year the quality of food and wine has greatly declined. This was honestly one of my worst meals I've ever had in Portland. The flank steak was so way over cooked, no flavor and completely dried out. The potatoes were totally undercooked and hard. I should've sent it back but I tried to make the best of it and eat very little. Server / Manager / Bar Tender seemed uninterested in engaging to inquire how we liked it or ever asked us. Even the wine list was super limited with stamps all over it of sold out. Until I see any news of a head chef / management change here I would highly caution against a visit here.
Always great food and service at this neighborhood favorite!
Our waitperson was wonderful, all the staff excellent. Food very very good.
We had a good time but the pasta was too salty.
I love Bar Avignon. The service is really the secret to the place. I have had a number of different servers and each one has been excellent. The food is consistently wonderful and the wine list, though short, is first rate. The desserts are always very good. The dessert wine list is a little short on cognac and very long on Amaro, but the list offers many unusual and interesting choices, which the great staff helps you explore.
We had a wonderful meal, and a great evening.
Loved it! Great food, wine and service. Small and personal - our ‘local’.
Excellent food in a cozy environment with friendly staff, truly a favorite ! Thanks
Spectacular on every level; Food, Wine, and Cocktails.
My friend had the first oyster of his life and it was out of this world. Highly recommended.
Portland Dining Month and returning from a trip combined for a great reason to try this restaurant, which we’ve wanted to do for a long time. So glad we got a reservation! A small space but manages to be cozy and not uncomfortable. Terrific food served by a fun, friendly staff.
Excellent food and service. Portland Dining Month special. It was our first time to this restaurant and will definitely be back .
Wow! Great service amazing food and libations. I felt I was in France. Sweet and cozy loved the flower arrangement on the bar as well as the stars above
We tried the 3-course special for March Dining Month. Within our group of 4, we were able to taste the soup and salad for first course, chicken and pork for main, and panna cotta and chocolate cake to end the meal. The house special wine for happy hour was a great value. Service was attentive. We will definitely come back.
My husband and I went here with our parents for PDX Dining Month and had a lovely time! Beautiful decor and excellent service, and the oysters are great. The only let down was the falafel dish- it was incredibly dry, even knowing that falafel is usually such. A bland dish overall. The rest of the table ordered the pork cheek and that was phenomenal! The panna cotta had too much gelatin, but those are the only complaints! Otherwise this is a great establishment and definitely worth the investment.
Very good, well crafted food. Service was generally good but a bit scattered. Would totally recommend and come back myself.
Group of 6 friends gathered after not having seen one another for awhile. Had perfect seating corner, great service
My favorite restaurant!!
Definitely a cozy place, great for a date or a small group of friends. The overall ambiance is quiet for the space, warm and calming colors provide an intimate setting. The food was very good, well prepared and presented. My wife and myself agreed that we'd return when in the neighborhood.
The food was good and the service was great! Very welcoming and accommodating when we requested a different table to better suit a disabled friend. I’d go back.
Loved this restaurant! Such a cute restaurant in a quaint SE Portland neighborhood. Great service, food and ambience! Will be back for sure.
We were there for March Portland dining month. The 3 courses were delicious and well paired. it was nice to have several choices, too.
We love this restaurant. We first found several years back when the Portland dining month was started. We went there last night and once again is was really good. My husband had the skirt steak and said it was the best he’s ever had! It’s Portland dining month. Try it.
I love this corner place. It is a welcoming, comfortable and pleasing restaurant. The staff is wonderful and friendly. The drinks above standard. The soup is always on point. I was only slightly disappointed in the panna cotta. The huckleberries on top saved it. My friend however loved every crumb of her Chocolate Cake with Orange Chantilly.
We loved it and will be definitely coming back!
We were seated in the back, which provided some privacy. Sure there were boxes but it’s easily forgotten. Food was great - especially their steak and the service was smooth.
The food was an okay quality but nothing special and overpriced. Enjoyed the ambiance. I would not go out of my way to visit again.
Always tasty food and good service by nice people
Bar Avignon has some of the best service people in the city. I always feel welcome. The food is consistently good with the mussels being my favorite. I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends.
I had high expectations and it was just okay for the price.
The ambiance and service was fantastic. However, all the food from the Portland Dining month menu wan't mindblowing. The soup and ragout were great but everything else, especially the dessert was just ok.
Went for Dining Month. Loved the ambiance and the intimacy. Struck up conversations with couples on both sides of our table about what dishes they likes and what to order. Settled on the potato leek soup, the pork cheek ragout and the chocolate cake. They did not disappoint. The food was AMAZING! We were talking about it all weekend. Wish we had gone back there Saturday night instead of the other restaurant we went to. That one was a disappointment. We will definitely go back to Bar Avignon next time we are in Portland.
What a delight. Super friendly, attentive service. Delicious, great presentation
Awesome! Great food and service. Good location too.
One of our top 3 favorite places to eat on Portland. We’ve been eating there for years and never had a bad meal or bad service. Food is really delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Love this place.
Fantastic service from every staff member. The atmosphere was lovely and comfortable. Great cocktails. Neighborhood feel with elevated food.
Always outstanding. This is our go-to special place.
