   Pro's: Good Food, friendly service, bar atmosphere Con's: Prices, We had a group of five and the food was $201 before tip and wine. For those prices the service and seating ( very sparse - what you would expect at neigborhood casual place - benches, chairs) and pace of the service was not up to what it needs to be.

   We absolutely love dining at Bar Avignon. The ingredients are farmed locally and prepared by chefs who love what they are doing. The wait staff is professional while at the same time being warm and welcoming. They have a great wine list and a full bar staffed by very talented mixologists. Dining at Bar Avignon is like dining at a dear friend’s home without the need to hang around to help with the dishes.

   I've been to Bar Avignon 12 times since August of 2014 when I moved to Portland. I have been a big fan but over the past year the quality of food and wine has greatly declined. This was honestly one of my worst meals I've ever had in Portland. The flank steak was so way over cooked, no flavor and completely dried out. The potatoes were totally undercooked and hard. I should've sent it back but I tried to make the best of it and eat very little. Server / Manager / Bar Tender seemed uninterested in engaging to inquire how we liked it or ever asked us. Even the wine list was super limited with stamps all over it of sold out. Until I see any news of a head chef / management change here I would highly caution against a visit here.

    I love Bar Avignon. The service is really the secret to the place. I have had a number of different servers and each one has been excellent. The food is consistently wonderful and the wine list, though short, is first rate. The desserts are always very good. The dessert wine list is a little short on cognac and very long on Amaro, but the list offers many unusual and interesting choices, which the great staff helps you explore. We had a wonderful meal, and a great evening.
