Overall disappointing experience. The food was lack luster in flavor and appearance. For the price point and the celebrity connection the dinner was not great. I would head to Pepe's and get a slice before going back to Bar Americain.
Bar Americain is always dependable for a very good dinner. Waitstaff is always excellent - and Jana was a delight.
Kudos to all who work to make dinner an always-wonderful experience.
I absolutely adore this restaurant, and chose it this past weekend as the destination dining place for my mother's 85th birthday. Our table for 11 was perfect and guests from all over the country couldn't have more delighted with the extraordinary food, beautifully spacious and contemporary decor, and fabulous menu selections. Simply the best... again and again!! Can't recommend more highly.
Incredible food. Excellent service. Would come back without any doubt!
The food did not meet my expectations at all. The high prices were not supported by quality , freshness or portion size. I ordered a trio lobster , crab & shrimp as an app. The dish consisted of 2 small shrimp, the avocado W/lobster was already turning dark brown when served ( this is what happens when avocado isn’t served fresh).
I ordered Mahi Mahi as an entree which was over cooked & dry . The diminutive size of the fillet would make it quite easy to over cook I suppose.
Although I am a fan of Bobby Flay & did enjoy his burger place here on Long Island I was dissapointed with the food . On a positive note everything else about the restaurant (service & atmosphere) were exceptional.
Our food was prepared perfectly. Always is. I have never had an issue with this restaurant. I would definitely recommend for the best healthy meal, or even just dessert.
We visit Bar Americain regularly and have always enjoyed the experience. The staff are engaging and efficient, management is very involved and accommodating, and the food and drinks are delicious every time. The menu offerings provide many options, from small plate apps to phenomenal steaks, lamb, and fish. Desserts are incredible. This is a favorite spot.
As always the food was great and most important for me, the service was excellent
Great way to start off our night
Food was amazing, my only complaint would be I ordered the lamb and I ordered it medium it was a little bit on the rare side for my liking, otherwise it was delicious as was my husband's meal. He had the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection, We would go back again
Very limited menu although good choices. The lobster avocado appetizer was outstanding.
My wife and I normally just get the same meal each time and have not had a reason to complain yet. Hope your experience will be the same as ours regardless of the meal you choose.
Meh. Bobby Flay’s take on American meat and potatoes. Too bland for my palate.
Just stopped in for drinks and apps before seeing a concert. The service was excellent but the food was not. The French onion soup was very good, oysters small and flat bread pizzas were terrible!
Karen, as always, and all staff outstanding. Delicious food and even better service/attention.
We had dinner with some friends very nice restaurant great food and service our server Sean was friendly didn’t rush us after our meal it was a little pricey but we all enjoyed the food and the atmosphere we would recommend this place
The food was good but very pricy for what you got. There was no salad or veggies with most entrees. If you ordered the $51 steak that’s all you got. I ended up paying $11 for potatoes to have a semi complete meal. Our waiter was nice. The meal was delicious but pricy. I would recommend the lamb chops. We were surprised when we were seated next to another (loud) couple when there were dozens of other empty tables available. I wonder if Bobby would approve of this first time experience at his place. Not sure we would go back.
Service was great, food was over priced for what we got. The rolls were hard like they had been reheated too much. My lobster was over cooked in parts and chewy.
Very nice and hospitable. Our waitress knew everything about our food. Food was delicious....we ate every bite!! And made our night special with desserts to acknowledge our anniversary and my partners birthday.
Everything was fantastic. Even my very selctive wife loved everything about our dinner.
We have dined here many times in the past and have always made excuses for the overcooked seafood. Tonight was no exception. The Cioppino lobster, clams and shrimp were not up to par. The trio appetizer I had was coated with a vinegary liquid substance, not mentioned on the menu and I sent it back. It was taken off our bill but it made our anniversary celebration less than stellar.
No excuses anymore. Will not dine here again.
Steak (filet) was over cooked, well done. There is no way you should ever give someone a steak well done that asked for medium to medium rare. Lobster avacado appetizer was super spicy and had a very dark color to it. Price point is way too high for quality of food that you receive.
Over priced. Limited menu
Usually have good food at Bar American, however, today the fried chicken meal was very poorly prepared and not edible. Chicken was thin and hard and potatoes were cold. I took the minute breast to give to my dog, but it was too hard for him. Won't order that dish again.
We always enjoy our meals at Bar American. We always ask for Sean to be our waiter. He always remembers our drink orders. He has seen us so often that he asks about our family he has met and we ask about his. All from casual conversations over the last few years. THAT being said, we had 2 disappointments with food this time. I tried the clam chowder which tasted only like bacon and salt. Chef Flay, please ease up on those 2 items in the prep. in New England, clam chowder should taste like clams with some potatoes, maybe corn and kick it up a bit Bobby style with white pepper or cayenne. Next we ordered the asparagus side dish. The sauce tasted like dishsoap or some kind of chemical. The dish could not be eaten. Maybe the capers off. Who knows. Love the steak. The cornbread is to die for and the Bartender makes a great martini. Sincerely, Jackie Martin
It was great and food was great!
Time after time Bar Americain delivers the best menu, with the best flavors, best service and a totally enjoyable experience.
Great atmosphere and service. Would recommend. Service was wonderful.
Went here for my birthday and the food was not worth what we paid for in terms of quality and taste. My entire party of seven were very disappointed. In no way is this a negative reflection on the wait staff, but you go and come back to a restaurant because of the food.
Patrick is the warmest Chef of all time for meeting and greeting clients. The best in the BIZ
Only issue was too much salt on the steak. All other food was great as was the service.
Menu was sparse, way overpriced with no sides unless you order them separately for another hefty price.
We were rushed through dinner, they were clearly trying to turn tables quick. Our table is next to the waitress stand which was very disruptive. Decent food but expensive didn’t make up for the other issues.
Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The restaurant had a good vibe and was great for date night
As always, excellent food and service! One of my most favorite restaurants.
It was great. Best lobster we have ever had and the filet was awesome too. We would definitely go again!
Had birthday dinner here. Was not overly impressed with the food. It had no Wow factor to it. Restaurant is nicely decorated and our server was relatively attentive but no personality.
It was nice, but I felt the price was too high for what you got. It was too noisy.
The food was good. It was not really good or great. For the cost, it should have been.
Martinis are great, thanks to a Tommy! However, the food is decent...some dishes are over salted. The chef and team should try the food before serving it to guests.
Food was OUTSTANDING and our waiter (Sean) was exceptional. While it is on the higher price side, it is Mohegan Sun after all, I feel it’s worth the visit. I will undoubtedly return for another meal here. Highly recommend the cedar plank salmon.
