Bangkok Thai on Main Ratings and Reviews
Wonderful experience when you are ready for something other than steak in town. Our server Chaang was wonderful. Salmon and sea bass were excellent. Should serve more veggies with salmon panang. Also, rice doesn't come with some of the entrees, which just doesn't seem right with Thai.
The last time we visited Bangkok Thai was in 2007 and I have to say not much has changed. The decor may be getting a little tired but the food was excellent. Even the green tea, which was served in a metal pot over a votive candle to keep it hot, was especially good.
The food was amazing . I would personally recommend the Cod with Thai Chili Sauce. Great cocktail selections. The mango Mai Thai with 151 Rum also a personal fave. Should you have the wonderful opportunity to eat here, ask for Dumitri, if possible. He was accommodating and attentive, and a bit of a wit. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.
The restaurant was whoafully understaffed on our visit resulting in a less than wonderful experience. The food was fine. Not great, but passable. The service was horrendous.
Customers without reservations were turned away from an empty restaurant. Tables that were vacated remained uncleared for our entire visit. The patron at the table next to us had to hunt down a waiter to pay his bill after waiting more than 10 minutes after being given boxes for their leftovers for the waiter to come back with a check.
Our dinner at Thai on Main took twice as long as it should have. If there was a reason for the snail like service, our server never informed us.
Our experience was a disappointment. The tall, hard booth seats were uncomfortable, so we asked to move to a table. They moved us to the only table with the sun shining directly into our eyes for about fifteen minutes as the sun set. The Pad Thai was fine, but the other dish was too salty, so they did not charge us for that one. The portions were generous enough so that we still had enough food.
So, Bangkok Thai on Main advertised with a Buy One get One Entre Coupon in the Park Record (local newspaper). So my wife and I and another couple each decided to use a coupon and go to that restaurant. Another couple that are friends with the other couple wanted to come along so we added them and they brought a coupon as well. In the coupon's fine print, there was a note that said no more then two coupons per table. I asked the person in charge why was that, if the additional couple walked in but did not join us they would get the discount. In fact, the discount is what brought us to the restaurant.
The manager asked if I could name any other restaurant in Park City that does not limit the number of coupons to 2 per table. I explained that most, if not all, restaurants with coupons in Park City have no such limits and named several. Well, once he had that answer he decided it was irrelevant. Then there was a section of tables in the restaurant that were 2 person tables that could be joined together or separated to make a table for 2, 4 or 6. If they were all set up for tables of 2 the distance between the tables would be less than a foot. So I asked if 3 couples arrived and sat at 2 person tables would all the coupons apply. He said yes. So I asked what as the difference? No answer, just no.
Well to not spoil our evening we waited for the 3rd couple in the little bar (sticky tables and run down) on the other side of the restaurant, had a drink and then sat a table for six made up of 3 tables for 2, all ordered entrées and decided to just go ahead and use only two coupons and pay regular price for the entrées of the third couple.
The food was very good, I loved the crispy duck. The server was great as well. The bar was scuzzy which matched the appearance of the bartender. Too bad that the management as so obstinate about its policy that it could not defend.
So, it will be a long time before, if ever, we would return to this restaurant.
I've never been a fan of Thai food but my girlfriend loves it. We came here last year and the server recommended a dish to me that was fantastic. I thought about a different dish this year, but went the safe route. It was even better than last year. My girlfriend loved her choices as well. Bangkok Thai will always be on our list for dining when visiting Park City.
My son and I had a delightful meal here. The food was delicious, more authentic and flavorful than I expected. The portions are quite large, so you should think about sharing and consider starting with less unless you want to bring some home. My son had the pad thai, and it was enough to feed two or appetizers for 4-6. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the seasoning quite good. It was lighter and more flavorful than most of the pad thai I've had. I had the Panang curry, also tasty. They served it with red rice (which they called brown), but it was so much better than brown rice - nutty, and perfectly cooked. Overall, a welcome change and we would highly recommend it.
The restaurant had great service and the food was some of the best Thia food we have ever had. It has a great menu and selection of the traditional favorites. The calamari appetizer was awesome! Highly recommended. The portions are large so sharing is possible.
Delicious ahi tuna salad, spring rolls. Panang curry was outstanding, Masaman was bland, carrots weren't fresh. Pad Thai was excellent with nice portion. Service was great as well. Rather silly that they charge for white rice... Kind of like charging for the ice in iced tea, but 2 bowls was plenty for family of five
far too long a wait over 1 hour to get our dinner! Food was so salty that I could feel the moisture sucked out of my face. My wife ordered the basiltini ( first drink on the menu) and the bartender said not to order it then suggested a higher priced wine when she asked for a lower priced one that was out of stock! Then charged us the higher price! Not a great value on main st park city. Far too many other great places to try nearby.
Good Thai food. Nice restaurant, friendly service, the usual Thai fare. I had a very tasty salmon dish with a somewhat spicy sauce. You get a choice from mild, intermediate, and two -three higher ones. I selected intermediate with some jasmine rice to help absorb the spiciness. Four of us shared a bottle of white wine. All around good food at a good price for dinner.
This ranked up there as one of the worst meals ever. And I am not a young person. Seriously. Who would have thought it in Park City? Expensive lobster roll fell apart when you tried to pick it up and was served dry with no sauce whatsoever. "Salmon curry" was a lukewarm solitary piece of salmon slapped on a plate with some sauce over it and served with nothing else. Vegetable green curry ordered extra spicy came out nearly raw with a thin runny sauce, not spicy. No white rice served with meals, and they were out of sticky rice - at a Thai restaurant!!! Waiter was apologetic as food took over an hour to be served. We understand if a kitchen gets backed up as long as food is good when it arrives. But this place is a joke.
