Bamboo Sushi SW
Over priced hipster style sushi. The flavors of the signature rolls such as green machine conflicted one another. Honestly way too much sauce drenched over the green machine that later in the night made up an upset belly. The pickled apple on the kimono roll just confused the taste of the fish.
This was one of the worst places for sushi in Portland, extremely disappointed service, and the sushi was horrible. I would rate this place for the ambience and nothing more.
Consistently some of the best sushi in Portland. Their specials are always interesting, and there is a high-energy vibe to the place.
Mid,Average, NW could never
Madison is one of the best servers we’ve ever had in any restaurant!
Bamboo Sushi is like no other sushi restaurant I have ever been to. The energy is awesome, service fantastic, food incredible and the service outstanding.
It was super busy and they were out of a few things, but the food was so, sooo good!! Even my vegetarian brother had such a good time he’s planning on going back!
Excellent service and the food was amazing. Recommend making reservations become it gets packed pretty fast
The King salmon，Sea urchin and Geoduck is just stunning！
Best Sushi in town.
Bamboo is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. We went at 4:30 for happy hour. Everything was nice
The green machine is the best sushi in Portland. The place is friendly and happy. It's very loud and I hate when I can't have a conversation with my guests because I can't hear them even with hearing aids. The food is pricey but beautifully served and very tasty. I like the SW shop better than the one NW but the food is consistent at both. If you have the money, eat here rather than at a cheaper restaurant. It's worth it.
By far the best sushi I have ever had. Each roll was absolutely delicious, and the fried cauliflower appetizer blew my mind.
Service was great, a little noisy but a bustling place. We had the fried cauliflower appetizer, a little heat, but excellent. Also Chasing the Dragon and the Green Machine rolls which we had previously. Again, both were great. The whiskey pudding with salted caramel for dessert was decadent.
I took a friend for the first time this visit. While I was disappointed to find several very good bottles of sake were out of stock (it took three tries to done one that was available), the Omakase was surpurb. Bamboo has some excellent chefs, and it absolutely shows in their off-menu selections. Nowhere else in Portland do you very much get what you pay for. There is also a discount if you are a member of the Japanese Garden.
Four of us went for a 6:30 dinner on a Wednesday night and were thankful that we made reservations as it was crowded. It was a little noisy but the food was delicious and the service was very good. We shall return!
We tried a mix of warm appetizers ( spicey fried cauliflower and shishito peppers), albacore carpacio, nigri with special sauces (geoduck, tuna tataki, eel) and finally the ocean roll. All outstanding. We were full but so many other amazing looking offers.
Outstanding food; the staff was extremely kind and helpful in addition to being prompt!
Sushi was amazing and not overpriced. Highly recommend it.
Great food and service all around. Though, the noise level was a bit too loud, in my opinion.
Best sushi in town, with line caught fish in the menu, amongst which rarely seen salmon!
Food was fresh,
I love this restaurant...& every Portland visit, I will be dining at Bamboo Sushi! Food is so good. I wish there was location in Chicago.
My colleagues and I went there for lunch for their waygu burger special. OMG one of the best burgers I’ve had in a very long time!
Great food and service, as always.
Chose poke & bento, food was very bland as well as their “deconstructed” presentation. Ordered Friday 13th roll which was pretty good. Appetizer cucumbers were unimpressive. Definitely would have gone to a better sushi place or Poke next door.
Everything was amazing!
Bamboo Sushi is our go-to for a special night out. Love that we can make a reservation for 2 on Open Table! I always order off the menu for a spicy tuna roll and it's the best in the city. Fresh tuna, spicy, without the mayo sauce.
I would have given them five stars in the food category, but they do not serve coffee. That was the only negative, however, it's well worth the money: Good food (some stuff I've never seen before), great service (right on top of things), and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. Highly recommended.
Our food was served one person at a time. There were three of us and we waited about 20 minutes between the first meal being served and the last. So we couldnt eat together. Because we didnt want to be rude and eat before everyone had been served, mine had come to room temp and gotten soggy before i could eat it. I made reservations here to bring my friends to a nice dinner, but i was very unimpressed with the service time. The wait staff were friendly and I enjoyed the menu, but i felt awkward the whole time waiting and waiting with food sitting on the table. The wait time wasnt very long, but because we werent served together it felt longer. Overall, i dont know if i’ll be back. I did appreciate the sustainability and high end feel at an affordable price.
CROWDED. Reservations highly recommended. "Energetic atmosphere" is a good description - with a sassy note of cacophony when the place is full. EXCELLENT attentive service. Good expense account blowout. A bit hard on the pocketbook if you're not on the corporate dole, even if you only have tap water. Oh, saki - if you know your way around that beverage.
Note - Folks waiting for a table will leer at you, especially if you are over 40. "Get off my lawn, lingerers!" is the clear message from eager diners lusting after your spot.
Make reservations! Excellent sushi & very creative. As soon as u sit down they bring edamame. Sushi is beyond good as is the Yukami. VERY loud & busy but absolutely worth it
Horriable service, condescending help staff and zero communication for there being no birthday special. I would have happily paid for something.
Wonderful food. I recommend the green machine + albacore.
Highly overrated. Food is mediocre for the price and portion size. Seating is close and uncomfortable. Service was good, however.
I have dined at this location on two different occasions and both were disappointing. Not certain why this particular location cannot get their act together. Both times that I dined at this locale I had reservations and we were seated 30 and 45 minutes after the scheduled time. All the while, we are staring at empty tables waiting for someone to occupy. All of this said, the pearl location is one of my favorite restaurants. The service, staff and food are excellent.
As always, an excellent menu and our server was very attentive and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome.
Dishes and service were very good. Affecting lunch experience- bill was surprisingly high. Came with 3 teens, ordered 4 very small food items and the bill/tip went to 3 digits! For the guests from Japan, poke was quite spicy.
