History and innovation go hand in hand at Bambara, from the décor to the menus. Critically acclaimed and locally loved, Bambara’s grand arched windows, original brass accents and travertine marble blend stylishly with its contemporary design. In Chef Nathan Powers’ dynamic exhibition kitchen, ingredients from local farmers and ranchers are reimagined as inspired New American bistro plates. In a nod to the diversity of tastes and preferences of our clients, we are happy to offer a range of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options in addition to our regular menus.

Bambara Ratings and Reviews
I have been multiple times at Bambara but Jake (Our Waiter) made it very special. He is very classy, professional, friendly and most importantly, Jake is very pleasant to talk to, he is smart and he knows how to provide extremely excellent customer service. My hat off to Jake.
Best food I have every had. The atmosphere is great. Cozy and quiet. The food is mouthwatering. I would eat there every night if I could. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel Monaco also has a great atmosphere. When your done eating you can play games out in the lobby. The giant scrabble board is a must after dinner.
Asked for a romantic table. (Double birthdays and New Year’s Eve) Stared at a coat rack all night. lamb was good but the pork or lamb belly in sauce tasted very gamey, couldn’t eat. There was a piece of plastic in my husbands wine glass. We were kind of shocked, but didn’t make a big deal of it.
Had duck confit next day. Very little duck present. Service erratic.
The cheeseburgers and fries from room service were GREAT!
Did love staying at Monaco and coming down for dinner.
Do need to work on food a bit though. Usually fabulous. This time, very inconsistent.
We went for our anniversary. Letting the staff know it was our anniversary beforehand through open table turned out to be a good idea. They had special menus printed out that said "Happy Anniversary" and the staff seemed particularly attentive and aware of our special evening. They also gave us a free dessert at the end of the night. Overall the food and service was fantastic. We both got the filet and it was one of the best filets I've had in a long time and I eat out a lot at nice places so I'm not easily impressed.
We are here on Christmas Eve while staying in SLC for the holidays at the Grand America. For the price, there are far better options in downtown SLC. The bread was stale, my wife’s gnocchi was perhaps the worst she’s ever had - very heavy and dense with oil, as if they’d been sautéing for hours and been rewarmed in oil. The filet was cooked well but fairly bland on flavor. I had the special - a chicken roulade that was fine, but certainly not special. Maybe I’m too much of a good snob, but we were not impressed. Wouldn’t ever go back and definitely would not recommend.
I'm pleased I scheduled ahead for a reservation as it was well worth it. I took my adult daughter and her boyfriend and thoroughly enjoyed our time together. We weren't rushed, the starters were out of this world, the entrée crazy good and even ordered amazing dessert and coffee. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and obviously loved being there. I'm so pleased Bambara is open. I did Christmas Day with my adult children in 2014 and will always remember the wonderful evening together. That was our last Christmas together so there is bittersweet memories for me. We'll be back for yet another memorable experience. Cheers
This was my third time at Bambara. Two dinners and a brunch. It is fine. Great space, the staff are wonderful. They are always friendly and willing to help. They are prepared and accommodating. It is the reason I am willing to go back.
The menu is well rounded and while there may be to many "friets" on some of the entrees the selections sound exciting and delicious.
Once delivered the presentation is very nice and the amount of food is what one would expect. But each time I have looked towards the kitchen area and asked myself if the main chefs are off tonight and I received the second string. Mind you I have been here on a Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday morning. Nearly a year time span. The food just doesn't pop. It's good, it is tasty and has flavor but tends to fall flat. There just isn't real depth to the sauces or flavor in the pork.
I have ever been fully let down and certainly would not caution someone against a visit. The staff and ambiance factors come into play to support the creative menu. For $100 a person (with a cocktail) I want the kitchen to stand up and deliver the words on the page.
Had a reservation for 5:30 but we had to call to let them know that we would be late about 15 minutes due to the traffic at that time of night was horrible. They had no problem with our tardiness and sat us at a small booth. The booths look great but if you are over 175lbs it is a tight squeeze. I had to sit next to my wife in order for us to move the table further away so that we could enjoy our meal. Our server Cal was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Our dinners and wine were very good. The filet was cooked medium rare as requested and the potatoes were awesome. My wife had the gnocchi and loved it. We didn’t have time for desert because we had a 7:00 ballet show to catch. Great place to dine at wish we had more time to enjoy it instead of having to rush because of our time schedule. We will be back again in the future.
Our reservations were for 6:30 and we had a theater engagement at 8:00 PM. I told our waitress that we had to be to the theater at 8:00. It took her 20 minutes to bring my first drink and 15 to bring my second. She put our order in late and we were forced to cancel the order at 7:45. This girl was the worst waitress I have ever experienced. She was not very apologetic and did not offer to comp our appetizer. I had to speak to the manager who was very accommodating about everything but the experience was a disaster all around. When I asked for Chardonnay she came back 15 minutes later to tell me that the Bar had run out and then she took another 10 minutes to return to tell me that she had found some. Wow!
Appetizers “Small Dishes” left a lot to be desired - very acidic. Cheese plate was not diverse or profound in flavor. Entrees were fantastic. Wine list was over priced, but what fine restaurants isn’t. I didn’t like the selection though either - there was not that many to choose from.
We went for my wife's birthday as it is her favorite dining out option and once again they did not disappoint. Her filet of beef was perfect and left her completely satisfied with our evening out. We have dined here on multiple occasions and they have never failed to exceed our expectations with their outstanding meals and service.
We were there for Thanksgiving buffet. While the food was good, it felt like most of it were cheap items (carrots, green beans, veggies in general) and very limited on seafood and main entrees (Salmon was very good, but small potion). We feel it was overpriced at $75, we would have been happy at $40 or $50 max. Most likely won't go back for another thanksgiving.
