Sat outside and it was lovely- only recommendation would be that they consider a couple of space heaters
Food and ambiance was very good, however overpriced in my opinion.
Excellent service, impeccable food! The mussels and the NY Stripe were fantastic. Definitely going tomorrow night for drinks around the fire pit!!
Service was okay food wasn’t bad it was Labor Day weekend I’m sure they were
All was good. The price was over the top, higher than many NYC restaurants.\
Lots of young adults; Two were caught having sex ion the men's room stall
I might go back but I would look at what else is in the area
Food and service were excellent. However, a couple brought their enormous dog and everyone trippped over it. It ruined the atmosphere
Had a wonderful dining experience at the Backyard Restaurant! On a nice evening, the ambiance is hard to beat. While there are no water views, the yard is lit with lanterns and has a wonderful vibe. The night we were there, they had a duo singing to acoustic guitar which was fabulous!
The food and atmosphere at Backyard are as good as anywhere in Montauk, and the service is far superior to some of the better known hot spots, especially since it comes without the "we don't need your business" attitude that is front and center at the Surf Lodge and other busy places.
Terrible food and service. Felt like restaurant about to close down.
Service was poor from the moment we checked in 30 min from check in tip seated and the table wasn't even set when we sat down Drinks took a long time to get Food was expensive and fair
Lovely setting — they put all the tables on the lawn in the garden. Food and service were impeccable.
Me and my sister came here for a quick bite because we wanted to try something new. Outdoor dining area is right by the pool which was very relaxing. We ordered a lobster Greek salad , truffle fries to share and a flat bread with goat cheese summer squash arugula and shaved parmasean. The food was great!
The ambiance and the staff at the restaurant are a 10+ our meals were good, not great. To be honest I had the mussels and some were a bit fishy but our dining mates had the pasta and they enjoyed it immensely! You won’t be disappointed.
Arugula salad really good - chicken amazing - waiter cool
Solè East is a magical spot. Dining here is a wonderful experience, from the beautiful al fresco tables to the great service, food and music, it’s a win, win, win!
Disappointed in our visit for my wife's birthday. Saw many good reviews beforehand but we didn't have the same anticipated experience. Overpriced food that was just Ok, portions were rather small, skimpy pour of wine (see photo) for $14 and a 6 oz. Sprite soda for $5. Bill was slightly over $100 w/o gratuity and we didn't have appetizers, desert or coffee and only 1 drink each as mentioned above.
Restaurant was pretty empty at 7:15 pm on a Thursday night but host seemed to be preoccupied and took a while to get his attention.
The outdoor dining area was very nice and the breadbasket with olive oil/garlic for dipping was very good. Service was friendly and had the appropriate attentiveness. We were glad that the noise level was reasonable during our visit.
We sat ourselves after waiting 10 minutes at hostess desk and no one was there. Grabbed or own drunk menus. Waited another 15 minutes before flagging someone over to see menus. Waited 20 minutes for black coffees. Almond milk was bad and had to get a new coffee. Meal was semi cold. And took another 15 minutes to get check after asking twice. Saddened by this experience and would recommend to no one to eat here ever.
A typical fine dining restaurant. Drinks were good! Service was very good. Food was unfortunately pretty forgettable. Prices were high for what was provided but I knew that going in and was prepared to spend money. Overall decent but nothing spectacular.
Incredible food!! Expensive but great service and beautiful area
The food was good but nothing special. I thought it was overpriced. Service was choppy, the waiter was very good but the rest of the staff were clueless and unprofessional.
Awesome food, excellent service. They turned the music down for us, started a fire bc it was chilly & closed some doors to block the wind. Very accommodating. Mongo was our waiter and he was fantastic.
Everything was so fresh and delicious. One of the best meals in town. Lovely setting too.
I made a reservation and when I arrived I was told there was no chef and no reservation and had to go else where
Music was too loud.
Lovely restaurant with small but diverse menu. Delicious food, nice atmosphere (had the fire on as it was a cool rainy eve). Bartender very friendly. Two of us ...each had an app, then split salad and entree. Portion sizes just right. Will be back.
Fun and energetic place, very loud so not a place to chat over dinner. But great for dinner followed by dancing! Great staff
While the food was very good, the service was awful! For the amount of money it cost to dine there you would think the service would be great....it was not at all. Would not recommend.
Took forever to even get seated. Hostess was MIA for most of the time. After finally being seated in the dark, we sat for about ten minutes with empty glasses before it became clear no one was coming to serve us. Left soon after that, one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Went to pizza village, would easily recommend going there instead.
They will not be around for long if they run their restaurant the way they did this past Saturday. Even though there was a concert going on, if you cannot provide proper service do not offer reservations or at the least communicate with your patrons rather than have very unorganized and unattatentive staff. After taking over thirty minutes to get a pitcher of water we should have left. A party of approximately fifteen people were seated next to us they received drinks, apps and even main courses before we even got our food. Their waiter even gave them free drinks because he was sorry they ran out of the fish. Several other tables in our area also had this problem of waiting for food and no staff around to see what was going on (maybe problem with waitress, who knows). After searching high and low for the manager he apologized went to check on the problem and promised the bill would be cut in half. He did find the food which was very good but when we finally got the check nothing was taken off. We just wanted to get out of there so we paid for the food and left. We could have easily left and not paid the bill as no one was around but we did eat our food and I know the right thing to do. I did stop in the lobby and spoke to someone that works at the front desk and assured me I would receive a call or email on Monday morning. I was holding off on writing this review but I do not want any other family trying to enjoy their summer to endure the embarrassment we went through on Saturday. For the price of the food and the overall experience, I do not recommend going here. Take your hard earned money and go to one of the many other amazing restaurants in montauk that will treat the costumer right.
Service was horrible! Everyone was complaining
Our server was basically absent while we were there. It took forever to get drinks or food. We had to go to the bar to even fill up our water glasses. The food was also just so-so. I was really surprised because this was one of my favorite spots to dine last year. The setting is still gorgeous though.
The Backyard Restaurant is the best in all the Hamptons. It will make your stay worthwhile.
While the clam chowder was amazing, the rest of our dining experience was disappointing. There were bread plates on the table but we never received any or were offered any. Our entrees came and we didn't see our waiter again for a half hour. My husband and I would have liked another drink but there was no one to take our order. My husband finally flagged down our waiter so we could give him our dessert order, since supposedly they're known for dessert and great coffee. We should have skipped it. My creme brûlée was cold and they didn't have cream or half and half for the coffee just soy milk or skim. They took the dessert and coffees off our bill since our service was so bad. I can't blame the waiter, he also had two other tables with large parties at each but we were paying customers as well. Get more help or assign your tables to your waitstaff more evenly. We won't go back. It's too bad it was an interesting spot.
DJ and restaurant owner repeatedly ignored our requests to lower the music. Staff was rude and disrespectful. Ruined our one year anniversary and they didn't care! Will never go back.
I was looking for a nice restaurant to accommodate a large party of 15 people. Despite I didn't have huge expectations regarding the size of our party and place that could accommodate all of us ( adults, teenagers and kids) last minute, we were all very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and amazing service . The whole staff was super kind, very efficient and provided all of us with great food recommendations.
The food was absolutely delicious, with a special mention for the seafood and chicken. The kids even had the pleasure to do roast their own smores in the garden.
This restaurant is a proper gem and I highly recommend it.
Absolutely the best restaurant in Montauk. The food is spectacular and the service is even better. With the best ambiance one could ask for! I will definitely be back soon!
Great with groups! Great ambiance. Went for a birthday + bachelorette and they were incredibly accommodating and friendly. Great staff! We sat right by a speaker so it was loud, but kept the party going!
