Backyard Kitchen and Tap
Our server was pleasant but drinks and food were just OK.
Food was good and most of all it came out nice and hot so I had hot food to the last bite. They were very accommodating which was appreciated.
Would go there again
Backyard Kitchen and Tap was awesome! First time there and I went based on a friend’s recommendation- it did not disappoint at all! The food was hot and fresh, wait time for it to come out was reasonable, and the service was friendly. Before my fiancée and I finished our meal we were already talking about coming back and planning our next meal 😂. Four thumbs up!
Loved the ambition of the Restaurant Week menu, but I was outvoted by my friends who ordered from the regular menu. Excellent choice of drafts. The first joint I ever went to in San Diego was the Mexican restaurant/bar that used to be where the Backyard is now - fond memories.
Excellent food & great place to watch sports
We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious trout dish and spicy chicken sandwich. Everyone enjoyed the hummus appetizer and the brownie and crime brûlée. The restaurant week menu along with half priced bottle of wines made for an economical and tasty meal with friends.
Server could not have been sweeter and more helpful. She made up for the not amazing food. This is a great bar/bar food restaurant, but some of us thought our food was pretty good, some thought it was fair, not the best. Go for the bar.
We were sat at our table and waited 30 min without as much as a hello from a server so we moved to the bar
Food is great ! Service was good too, but the music is very loud and the restaurant so cold that it makes it hard to enjoy the service or food when all your thinking about is how cold you are and how fast can I eat this to be done and get warm.
Amazing food and great location. All members of my party had a great time.
Went for San Diego Restaurant Week on the last day and was told that they were not honoring it any longer. We were disappointed but decided to give it a try anyway. Service was super slow and food was mediocre, probably not going back.
Service was Great!!! The jerk chicken was amazing.
It was great. Food was spectacular and service was friendly.
Quieter and less crowded than next door at Mavericks which was a relief! Service was slow but friendly on a busy Saturday. We had a large group which was easily accommodated. I got the poke quinoa bowl which was too expensive for its size, but tasted ok. Everyone else’s portions were good. Ambiance was nice, but lack of fans outside made it hot and sweaty! Also dogs are allowed in patio. Not a fan.
We have been visiting this place for football games and anytime we stay in Pacific Beach. You can make reservations so you know you will get a table. Last Saturday we had an excellent waitress even though the place was backed! She was very attentive to us as if we were the only one sitting there. The food was excellent.!
Reservation made a week in advance, we arrived on time and had to wait an additional 30 minutes for our RESERVED table to be ready. We were seated in a horrible spot with a giant wall beam in the middle of our two tables that were haphazardly thrown together. This was upsetting as we had requested an outside table and then were smooshed inside and half of our party was unable to converse with the other because of the wall beam. They apologized for the situation but I don’t feel that we were made a priority even though we made a reservation a week in advance.
A great place to celebrate a 21st Birthday!! Friendly service, good drinks and everyone enjoyed their food selections. The best part is that it turns into a great bar/club atmosphere after 9:30pm. Great music and terrific ambience for a 21st celebration!! We can’t wait to comeback for a Sunday brunch :) during football season!
Great food and great servers, food came out quickly. Lively place and nice, large outdoor seating area.
Nice outside patio. Food was good; nothing spectacular but not bad either.
Our appetizer The cauliflower garbanzo bean was so greasy, the kale was drenched in oil. The Mac n cheese was so greasy too and had no taste
Great service, great food!
This particular reservation was for brunch but we wound up returning to Backyard several times during our stay in Pacific Beach. Brunch was outstanding and our returns for just cocktails and our final lunch before leaving were all quite good as well. Service is a little slow at times (a single bartender for the entire restaurant at 6:30pm seems a little less than ideal) but everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful.
Came here for a birthday dinner w/ friends. Food was great with a fun atmosphere!
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great location. Great for Instagram (if you care about that).
We were very large party that kept changing in size and they did their absolute best to accommodate us I even wrote a great review about them on yelp and I very rarely write anything on yelp.
In addition there are a variety of choices on the menu made it very easy for us to accommodate our large group. Best of all the food was really tasty and the service was great again I cannot recommend them enough for large groups and of course for small groups to
Great local spot. Love the dog menu. Friendly service
We were there for Cinco De Mayo visiting from south Florida! They have great music and DJ but do not let the loud music fool you. The food was delicious and the service was great as well! Definitely worth a visit! It’s location is right on a strip in pacific beach with lots of bars and restaurants!
Cool place close to the beach. Casual relaxing to watch the games on TV and kickback. Clean as well.
Fun Saturday brunch!
Took one hour from being seated to getting a drink
Food was hot and fresh.
Good food, decently big portions. Fast service, except the bar service was quite slow. Drinks were good, although like many places the prices were high and alcohol content low. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and the atmosphere is fun, overall recommend.
Backyard has surprisingly gourmet food. The prices match the value of what you are eating. The waitress I could tell was annoyed for some reason with us. Typical attitude of people working at a bar. But otherwise it was really fun and the food was great.
Fairly noisy but it was also basketball championships.
Excellent size portions that are tasty. The only negative is that the dining area is way too dark.
DJ, bartender, atmosphere and mimosa bar was great! Wish I would have tried the pancake bar as well. Loved that we got to experience the 1st weekend with the unlimited mimosas. I had biscuits and gravy, which I normally love, but I did not like it at all. My fiancé had the brisket hash, and he did not like that either.
Good meals, dessert was okay.
Awesome. Cassidy was stellar.
Service was super slow. 15 minutes to get the menu and place order (we already knew what to order). 30 minutes for appetizers to come out (just 2 appetizers). An additional 30 minutes for entrees to come out (just two entrees, a quinoa bowl and ravioli) Ravioli entree literally only had 4 pieces. Food tasted okay/good but service was overwhelmly slow and food was not worth the longer wait. Not to mention parking is difficult around noon with paid parking right next to it for $5 0-1 hours. With this slow service, expect to pay more than the $5 for parking.
