Surprising~ great dinner wonderful staff
I needed a place for a business meal. Preferably one with a nice view. I'd never been to Back Bay Bistro, but it looked good. Turned out it was perfect. Quiet enough for our business conversation, yet a vibrant atmosphere throughout. And on warmer evenings, the patio dining option would be a lot of fun. Plus, the food was terrific, and the service attentive without being intrusive.
We had a "staycation" planned and walked across the street to Back Bay Bistro for happy hour. They had a very nice selection of food specials, as well as beer, wine, and cocktail specials.
We decided to go back for brunch the next day for a treat. The food variety and presentation were excellent. Mimosas were included. The service was great, from the hostess who recognized us from the night before, to every other person we interacted with. They seemed to take pride in their work--how refreshing nowadays. We complimented our waiter and he said he wanted us to come back. Well, it shows. Keep up the great work, everyone!
Sunset on patio was very nice. Food was very good. Menu a bit basic. Could have some creative specials that they can change out. Heater was avail but ended up warm enough to not need it.
We were celebrating a birthday and it was a beautiful fall day, so we could eat outside. Our server was very nice and friendly and attentive. Will go back!
Sunday brunch was outstanding! Excellent selection of seafood items.
Overall, this was a fun experience. The view is amazing. So nice to be on the water. Service was great. Food was tasty although you should really go to enjoy the view.
The service was great, the food was just as good. We found this on the map and glad we checked it out. Very reasonable price for what you get
We enjoyed Sunday brunch at this beautiful restaurant. It overlooks the bay, and we enjoyed watching boats, kayaks, and paddleboards out on the water. The huge buffet is thoughtfully arraigned around the perimeter with plenty of space to move around.
Everything we ate was delicious. Salads, breakfast items, carvery, omelets, fish (even crab legs!), and desserts. All nicely prepared and delicious.
We truly enjoyed this experience!
My favorite relaxing Sunday brunch atmosphere. Food is very good staff is extremely nice & accommodating. Very peaceful outside dining.
It was an "okay" brunch. Very expensive for the quality of the food. The waffle was cold, turkey was dry, shrimp was okay but nothing special. Brunches tend to be very costly and hard to eat that much food. Have gone to other brunches that were not so expensive. I believe you pay for the view and location. As more people arrive it got a lot noisier. Sitting outside on a nice day would seem to work better. Might go back to the restaurant again to have a glass of wine, enjoy the happy hour and the view, but probably not the brunch. Will add the service was good.
Don’t ever go for dinner. Good is overpriced and not good at all. Very sparse environment and not good ambience.
Sorry just wasn’t impressed...I went for dinner. I heard the brunch is delicious...
Worst experience ever!! Special event happening at the restaurant. No tables available except outside or sitting at the bar.
The hostess argued with us about where we could sit.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and we ended up paying for the special event band just to get a table. This restaurant should not have taken reservations for dinner on open table if 90%of the restaurant was set aside for the special event. Their event was not even at 10% capacity.
THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER. AND IT WAS OUR ANNIVERSARY!!!!
Sat outside with kids and was pretty and quiet. Food was great, saw a beautiful sunset.
Birthday brunch for my daughter. We sat outside and watched the boats come in and out. It was a very nice time.
service was terrible. some of the food was good but some was not. brussell sprouts were not cut small enough or cooked enough. view and ambience are great. hope they fix the weaknesses.
The scallops were delicious. Would come back just to have them again. Celebrating a birthday and hoping for romantic setting but a bit stark - better for lunch or brunch. Our waiter couldn't have been better and gave us wonderful service.
We had a fabulous dining experience. The sea bass was over the top. Great service and amazing place to watch the sunset.
Great experience. Food was excellent. Service was efficient and friendly.
No atmosphere at all. We felt like we were in a cafeteria dining room. The food was so bland and the prices high for the lack of quality. The French fries were good though and the wait staff was sweet, but incompetent. We were interested in this place for a private event, but that will NEVER happen.
We have only gone for the always delicious weekend brunch. I suggest going before 11:30 as it does get very noisy. However, that is not all so bad as the open setting is pleasant even though it is the reason it does get noisy.
This is my first review ever since i have being using Open Table.
It was my daughter’s 21st Birthday we made a reservation over the phone a month a ago for 10 people, when I called to confirm they only had 4 people so I booked it with open table and requested outside seating
When we got there it was difficult to get the hostess to give us a table outside.
The table was set for 8 people I advised the front desk that the reservation was for 10 as it clearly stated in my open table reservation and she told the waiter, it too more than 10 minuets to get our table even though they were only servicing 3 tables.
It took more than 15 minuets to get our drinks ( were brought drinks for another table)
We had to ask the boss boy for bread,
It was NOT a good experience...we live In Newport Beach and dine out often almost every weekend and have never experienced such poor service any where.
The place needs to provide better training to their employees most of them are clueless about service.
My daughter was not even offered a birthday desert like most good restaurants offer.
I have been here a few times a the bar and it was OK.
I will NOT dine here again.
The view is beautiful though!
We thought it was extremely loud here
It was one very large open hall -
It was not really conducive for conversation or for a date
It would be better Suited to large parties in our opinion
The two of us had the Mahi-Mahi and the salmon entrees. Very good taste and presentation. Service from Ish was excellent. Sat out by the water and watched the sun set at the same time. Went back for lunch the next day.
Great Food!! Great service and very clean ! Excellent view
Had to ask for a high chair 3 times on 2 different visits in the same weekend and on the second had to get it for ourselves(we actually went three days in a row and had to ask twice the first visit). No ceviche for the brunch ...
Food was good and tasty
Music way too loud on request turned down but later up again
Rock music did not go with the atmosphere at all , negative point
Setting n ambiance nice
The food was very good. I had John Dory fish and it was delicious. My partner's New York was also delicious, as were our friend's scallops! The waiter was outstanding. There was a VERY loud concert inside so we ate outside, which was very nice!
Fish came drenched in a white sauce and it didn’t not describe this sauce in the menu had a friend who was lactose intolerant. She just ate it but it would have been nice to have the detail in the description. Boat fumes where terrible on entering the restaurant.
Bathrooms where unclean !!!
We enjoyed our lunch yesterday. It turned out to be a beautiful day and the view of the Back Bay made it a great day! Food was wonderful as well.
Good buffet, lots of options, and the champagne was constantly refilled!
We felt our food was not very tasty for the $100 bill for two kids and two adults. It was very stuffy and hot. Nothing special here unless you get lucky and get a view spot
When we arrived, we found out they were having a huge party in the main dining room and the music was Extremely Loud. They informed us that we could only be seated outside. The outside tables were down a flight of stairs and there were approximately 6 tables. It was hot and windy and not conducive to outdoor dining. No one was eating outside. Therefore we had to leave very upset and find another restaurant and celebrate a birthday. They should have called to tell me ahead of time that they could not accommodate my reservation.
The first time we went to this restaurant a few years back we really enjoyed it. This time we were very disappointed. The service was lacking but it was obvious that the server was new being that he had someone with him. The food was fair.
Worst experience ever
This place has food that I enjoyed...however the selections have been limited compared to previous dining experience...now it’s much quieter and business has been slower...probably because they have reduced their food selections...I am still happy to enjoy the Alaska king crabs....oysters, shrimp, and smoked salmon...
This "restaurant" looks like a party warehouse with dining tables as an afterthought. It is very industrial. No ambiance. It might be a good venue for a reception but would need quite a bit of decoration to create atmosphere. The design and decor is very incongruous with the waterfront location. Nothing beachy or welcoming about it. Also needs a power wash in the rafters-lots of cobwebs. A real missed opportunity.
Went for Sunday brunch and my dining companion and I were very disappointed. We enjoy lunch hamburgers here on other days but will not ever return for brunch. Food was not good. For example the crab legs were so soggy that it was impossible to crack them open. What little crab that could be extracted was watery and over cooked. The bacon was greasy and tough. The dessert tasted stall like the had been cut and left out overnight. The one bright note was the shrimp that were very tasty. Omelettes and eggs cooked to order are probably the best bet. Not recommended.
We made a reservation simply because we had tickets for a concert that was being held there. We were very disappointed when we arrived that there was a very limited/reduced menu of only 3 entrees, it would have been nice to have been told that when they called to confirm the reservation. After sitting at the table for over 30 min, we went to the hostess to inform them that nobody had been to our table to greet us let alone take an order. That being said, they were very friendly and apologetic. I got the feeling that they were a bunch of very green servers with very little experience but with great attitudes. Attitude is everything so as a result we tried to be more patient and understanding. Both of us ordered the chicken which was bland and overly salted. As a concert venue it was great and I'd definitely go back for that.
