My group of 4 made reservations at this restaurant for brunch. Online and on their menu in the restaurant it says they have mix and match bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary’s. However our server told us they no longer do that, and only do bottomless mimosas. Some of our plates of food were brought out cold, the food wasn’t very appetizing. We ended up paying and going to Starbucks down the street for coffee and breakfast
Definitely will not be back. Not like it was before and that's too bad.
Have eaten at Avenues many times---over several years, since it opened----and the value, per dollar, is outstanding among all eateries in Kansas City. (Variety of menu's from week to week----is sometimes difficult to catch up with!) Suggest you be there at least once---during happy hour----and you will be impressed with menu choices and wine by the glass pricing. (Wine dinners are excellent value for the dollar spent, btw.)
Brunch was very good & service was excellent
We were there for brunch. Food was delicious, service very good. Ambient noise level was an issue.
This is one of my favorite places to have brunch.
Saturday, 930 brunch, yikes. Our server (Emma) had either just recovered from head trauma or was baked. Introduced herself twice in a five minute span. Brought the wrong drink menu. Proceeded to ask if we had any questions, then apologized for bringing the wrong menu when we asked for the brunch drink menu. Then, wait for it, brings the exact same menu. Didn't take our food order, and was MIA for 5 minutes when we were her only table. Got up and left. Avenues has great food, so we will be back, but will not done in her section.
I recently had dinner at Avenues and boy was it the BEST! We loved our server Katherine, she was kind, helpful, and an absolute delight. She was the best waitress I have ever had. She recommended the bacon dates, lobster ravoli, and the most delicious german apple cake I have ever tasted and buddy am I an expert at german apple cake. I will come back just for the food and for the wonderful service.
I have always enjoyed Avenues Brunch but this past Sunday it was off. The Chefs table was missing items each time we went through. The food was good but items had to be sent
Saturday brunch was very busy so service was not the best. Our water was served in coffee cups because they had no glasses. The food was very tasty and the price reasonable. Very loud in the back room so be prepared.
I love this place Saturday brunch. The bottomless mimosa's are amazing and the food is great!
My husband and I had made reservations a week and a half prior to our brunch date with our friends.
We could tell our server was not feeling well. Her voice was basically gone and did not look lively. She did not begin waiting on our table until we had been sitting for a good 10 minutes.
We ordered bottomless mimosas and they were hardly “bottomless”. She came and checked on our table just a few times, therefore not refilling our drinks as much as we would have liked.
My husband and I have been to your restaurant in the passed and received this same service but were willing to give you guys the benefit of the doubt.
The few times our waiter came to check on us, she spilled an iced coffee all over the floor that resulted in it spilling INTO my shoe.
Another time she came over, she spilled a cup of ketchup all over the floor and it got all over my husbands jeans.
We were SO dissatisfied with our service and overall experience. The drinks were very watered down, the Buffett didn’t have any plates, and when we asked for them to be restocked, they brought out wet plates. We ended up apologizing to our friends many times....
When we received our check, our server had our bill wrong and charged us for something we didn’t even order.
The list could go on. I’m afraid we won’t be visiting again unless we are compensated.
They changed their Brussel sprouts although it had the same description as it used to be on the menu. We didn’t like the new recipe as well. Other than that everything was real tasty. The Wiener Schnitzel was excellent. Salmon was done just right. The bacon wrapped dates were good as usual. The shrimp & crab appetizer was excellent. The sauce that came with it was great. Overall good value.
I made a reservation for 12:30, she sat us 5 minutes late and we did not have a server come up to us for 30 minutes. Once someone finally took care of us it took another 10 minutes to get a mimosa and no one even apologized for our wait. I understand they are busy, however there were 2 other open tables by us as well. Food was barely warm by the time we got it. I’ve had great experiences here before but was extremely disappointed by the service this time, unsure if I will return.
Not sure. I have been here often and was surprised to see the new open layout in the main dining area. I think it has lost its charm.
I gave a low rating for service because the server never brought our change. I deducted it from the tip but I still think it is WRONG for servers to keep any change without being told to.
Server was polite but inattentive. Buffet was not well stocked. Had the classic eggs Benedict and wondered where the hollandaise sauce was. Each time I go here, it's a bit worse. Ordered a refill on our bottomless mimosa and it took so long to get it that we had to leave before it was served.
I’ve always enjoyed Avenues and found the food quite good. On this particular night, three out of four meals were served at a tepid to cold temperature. When the plates were returned to the kitchen to be reheated, they came back with warmer fish but still cold vegetables. A price adjustment was given on these meals which was nice. Also, as I have celiac disease, I asked that my salad have NO croutons but it did, underneath the lettuce. Not safe for me at all. Hopefully our next visit will be better.
Very disappointed to make a reservation and not be informed about the limited pre-fixr menu. Service was good. Food was below expectations....filet oscar?? Tiniest, thin filet.
Loved my omelette and my husband loves the biscuits and gravy. As always, a great dining experience and we love breakfast !!!
I believed thry tried. The fixed meal selection was good. The food was cold so that ruined what what would have been a good dinning experience.
Waitress was very friendly but service was a little slow and she didn't check back with us much unless we waived her down.
Valentine’s Day. Seated at worst table in restaurant. Right be front door on 2 degree day. 3rd course was served before second course on fixed Valentine’s Day menu. I’m not sure if we would have been served 2nd course at all if we had not mentioned it. Food was cold when served. Water glass was empty most of dinner. It was a busy night, but still good restaurants can handle busy nights.
On the bright side the bacon wrapped dates we’re amazing
We really thought the Valentine's prix fixe menu left a lot to be desired. Main courses were very uninspiring and extremely expensive for what we received. The desserts seemed to be a hodgepodge of homemade sheet cakes and/or store bought cakes.
Our party had to wait for drinks twice (didn't get our second drink until dinner was over). My steak was charred and crispy on the outside and raw on the inside, and the side of potatoes were cold. Our table was 4 inches from table next to us so conversation was difficult. I wanted a cozy, delicious meal for my husband and friends for Valentines day, but ended up spending 100$ on dinner and might as well have gone to fast-food. We won't be back.
Since this was a birthday/Valentines dinner I had higher expectations for a better experience. We have been to Avenues Bistro before, but this time we were slightly disappointed in the overall experience. It seemed as though the restaurant was more concerned with turning tables than offering a positive dining experience. The staff was moving at an extremely fast pace and the food seemed to be coming out of the kitchen quicker than usual not allowing for patrons to enjoy a relaxing dinner.
We were seated next to the kitchen entrance which also led to a rushed, hectic dining experience. Especially when you could hear the conversations taking place in the kitchen and repeatedly heard the employees calling out “Corner, Coming In, etc.”.
The parting gift of Macaroons was nice but not being acknowledged for a birthday was a little disappointing since we had never experienced this.
This restaurant is not what it used to be...
A half hour after we were seated, our beverages arrived. The asparagus was missing on the Shrimp Louie. The bill was incorrect. Very unusual for one of our favorite restaurants. Appears they were understaffed for Valentine's Day.
Food has been terrible our last several visits. They were out of prime rib and subbed a paper thin, overcooked “ribeye” steak in its place
the valentine dinner was truly special and a terrific value
Great food and great service!
Great value. Prime rib was delicious.
Everything was great
We love Avenue Bistro. They are a great option for dinner.
Good food, service was slow. Had reservations and was seated on time
We booked a reservation for 6 for Saturday night. They sat us in the bar area, where a Michael Jackson impersonator was performing. It was awful. It took too long to get a drink, and they ran out of chips. We noticed no one else had food, and our server confirmed the kitchen was backed up. we cut our losses and left.
Terrible service. Reservations were for 7 and we were promptly seated but we sat for at least 15 before our server came over to take our drink order. Once we placed our food order which were salads and mains no apps it took forever to come out. Our entrees finally came out @8:30. There were other customers in the restaurant who were seated after us and ate and left before us. Food was just okay. My husbands food looked like it was just thrown on the plate with no care whatsoever. We will not be going back
We have a second Saturday Breakfast Group. We meet at different restaurants around town. One of our group has several food allergies and Avenues is always very accommodating. There is something for everyone on the menu
I have always really enjoyed this menu but the overall service experience is often times terrible. It took almost an hour to get our food and it was cold and the server (who was amazing and attentive when we first arrived) pretty much disappeared. It's one of those places in the perfect location with an awesome menu but they just can't seem to get it together to be consistent. We were late for our show and it was not a good experience this time.
I would say it was a very neat experience for my dear granddaughter and myself. I did have the special and of course that made it very inexpensive.
The food was excellent, and service very fine. Thank you for the high quality. J Boat
