Best food anywhere. Already made reservations for next month. Ribeye was tender and cooked perfectly. Service was exceptional.
Excellent! Great service, delicious food!
We enjoyed the tasting menu so much! We added the wine pairings and we were delighted. The food was impeccable and our reservation for our next visit is already on the books. Artisanal is a must for those who enjoy amazing food and wine.
Excellent birthday dinner! This place is absolutely exquisite and a rare gem. Could not choose a better place!
Food and service second to none in the Carolinas!!
What a wonderful evening my husband and I had here! Everything was fabulous, the service, the waiters and waitress, the food! We will definitely come back!
This restaurant is amazing! A very special dining experience. The owners are "hands on" and are there to make sure you are enjoying the ambience, food, view and entire evening. The entire staff is professional and caring. The presentation of the food is as exquisite as the taste of the food! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

I travel the world for business and leisure and I'm always searching for a gem resturant with beautiful interiors, ambiance, great food, service and setting.... never would I expect to find a resturant of such class and perfection in Banner Elk, NC. ARTISNAL is truly a dining experience in all aspects.
If ever in the area, please take advantage of this award winning restaurant, it is worth the drive.
Just do it!! You will remember!
Ambiance was superb for our early evening, outdoor table reservation. Menu was creative and our app/entree selections fabulous! (prawn/lamb/ribeye). Extensive wine list and knowledgeable, helpful, friendly server. We will definitely return.
We had an enjoyable visit to Artisnal to celebrate a birthday. We sat outside and enjoyed listening to sounds from the creek. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious. Recommend the scallops.
Artisanal certainly met our expectations in every way. Exceptional service, setting and delicious food presented artistically.
This was my first dining experience at Artisanal and it was absolutely amazing. I went here with my girlfriend for our anniversary and not only was the food amazing but the service was impeccable. I recommend this atmosphere for anyone.
Great food, beautiful atmosphere, good service. All in all this place has it totally together. Only down side is the average person will feel like a Walmart Greeter here. The snobbery at this place is epic. Between the management and the clientele it is difficult to get ones nose high enough to feel comfortable. Be interesting to see how this level of crust will play out in a more competitive market when they open their South Point store in Charlotte.
Always a great place and great food! Our orders included steak, flounder, salmon and crab cakes and everyone was happy.
Expensive, but definitely worth it
A top end restaurant located in an elegantly restored barn, surrounded by farms outside Banner Elk, and about a mile off the highway to Blowing Rock. Artisanal Restaurant is our new standard for fine dining in a non-urban location. Since we hate big cities, it's our new standard for fine dining, period. There are two modes of ordering: the sampler plates, or the dinners consisting of three optional courses. We ordered a first course and a main course, followed by a shared desert. The menu varies daily, but suffice it to say that everything was fresh, vine ripened, perfectly cooked. Tomatoes tasted home grown, as did peaches. Amazing beef short ribs was expertly prepared (sous vide to medium rare, and quickly grilled for a thin brown crust). Portion size was generous, service was exemplary. Can't wait to go back.
Unbelievable, as usual! Best dining option in the entire state!
What a treat. From the valet taking our car to been greeted by the hostess and everyone in between our visit could not have been better. Friends have recommended Artisinal for many months. We finally went for our anniversary and were not disappointed. We had the tasting menu and ever dish was superb. They even brought us a special dessert for our anniversary. The wait staff were attentive but not obtrusive, our water glasses were never empty. If the saying "you get what you pay for" is true. We definitely got a wonderful meal and dining experience. It was worth every penny.
Fabulous dinner! The menu changes frequently so there’s always an opportunity to try some new preparation. We were delighted this visit with the grilled Hawaiian prawns, the king salmon and the flounder. What a treat!
Great service made even better by a tasty rib eye
It is always outstanding. Still dreaming of the pimento cheese scones with pepper jelly! My visiting friends talk about the dinner all year. Thanks for always making it memorable.
Oh my my my! One of our best super gourmet dining experiences of our 44 years of marriage.
From ambiance, to service, to incredible chef’s creations.... just amazing!
An amazing and unforgettable night as always. The only thing that competes with the food is the service. Everything was perfect.
This was only our second time. We were not disappointed. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent.
Always exceptional! We make reservations as soon as we know when we will be in the area. The menu has great variety and it’s hard to choose as every dish sounds wonderful. This recent trip I had delicious grouper with a perfect wine that was rcommended to go with our meal.
We have been to Artisanal several times and have always enjoyed ourselves. This time we were a bit disappointed in the entree which was black grouper. The accompanying vegetables were excellent but the grouper lacked taste.
I would rate this a 5 star restaurant but for a few minor issues. The main course was served before we were done with our appetizer and the creme brûlée did not have that hard crust-if you are going to use a blow torch, make it a hard shell.
For a $200 dinner we wanted to take our time and enjoy it. It was almost like they wanted to rush us out.
For such a professionally run kitchen, I was surprised by this.
But it was a place I would go back to. The chef is very talented.
The staff was the best part of our experience. Me and my date were greeted by the most adorable, well-spoken, and helpful child. The night was a little cooler than we expected and before I could even offer my date my jacket, a hostess had brought a shawl for her to cover her shoulders... Our one complaint would be a lack of information on the website. An updated seasonal menu would have made our experience perfect.
An incredible dining experience from the location, venue, valet parking, wait staff, wine selection, menu and of course, the food! Fine dining at its best and well worth the trip to Banner Elk!
Great as always!
My second dining experience in a month, with a good buddy, as difficult it was to fathom, exceeded the first with my girlfriend. My same wait person, Emma Stone, was consistently excellent, knowledgeable, and resourceful regarding food and wine offerings.
Upon entering through the very large portals of Artisanal, welcoming you into a vaulted ceilinged great-room-like-barn, constructed of beautuful textured, colorful wood, rendering a comfortable, cozy feel to ensure a lovely dining experience, one is convinced a special dining experience is in store, as, indeed, it was.
As my first course, I repeated the deliciously prepared Beets, Carrots & Breadcrumbs [with Vadouvan/Chevre Goat Cheese/Pistachio/Arugula], tastier than the title implies.
Just when my taste buds' prior experience with the Rib-Eye steak was superb [my girlfriend had the fabulous Hickory Smoked Pekin Duck Breast, unchoke Kumquat/Spinach Pudding/Caper], my Grilled Leg of Lamb main and friend's 48-hour Short Ribs were over the top, prompting me to make the short ribs my very own main course when I return.
Just when I thought my prior dessert of Lavender Creme Brulee Tart could not be topped, the Peaches with a Raspberry Foam Topping topped it.
I am sure to return.
Beautiful atmosphere and location. Very good food with a high end wine list.
Artisanal's setting is breathtaking. We so enjoyed sitting outside to enjoy it on a cool, misty summer evening. We ordered the chef's tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was beautifully presented, innovative and delicious. We appreciated Artisanal's dedication to serving sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. Service was just right. We were well-attended but never bothered. Our server was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and never pretentious as some servers can seem at high-end restaurants. Our date night was truly memorable. We look forward to their Charlotte location opening this fall.
Fantastic cuisine, stunning setting and ambiance!
What a great surprise! This restaurant was recommended by a number of people and we had no idea how wonderful it would be. The building and grounds are beautiful, the ambiance is outstanding, the service is beyond fantastic and the food is outstanding. It is perfect for a romantic evening or a large group sitting outside. They have it all covered. Another amazing thing is that the owner is the chef and in the kitchen supervising and his wife helps serving and talking to the guests. Both are very involved in the overall production. The only unfortunate thing is that they are not open year round. It would be perfect for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. One thing I forgot to mention is that it is in a very beautiful scenic part of the country in North Carolina.
What a unique memorable evening with dear friends ! Artisanal has it all... mountain views, outdoor dining beside a rushing mountain stream, outstanding cuisine made with fresh local items and friendly impeccable service. One would have to travel to New York, Atlanta or Charlotte to enjoy a restaurant of this quality.
Been here many times in the past. This trip particularly good. Everything was great this trip.
Fabulous venue! Great food, service, ambiance!! Perfect!!!
Celebrated our anniversary there. Tried numerous items -appetizers were pimento cheese, beet salad and octopus with squid ink pasta. All were fabulous. Entrees were Cap steak and wagyu beef. Excellent! Wine selections were perfect! We were too full for dessert. Will definitely go back!
One of the finest restaurant experiences ...period
