A modern take on the classic American steakhouse, Arroyo Chop House is one of only a few restaurants in Southern California that serves exclusively USDA Prime beef. This strikingly handsome restaurant, inspired by the Arts & Crafts architectural style for which Pasadena is famous, is clad in rich mahogany and the cozy booths are bathed in seductive light.

Our steaks are aged and hand cut daily and then perfectly seared in a 1,500 degree oven. Traditional steakhouse side dishes include creamed spinach, baked potatoes, asparagus spears with hollandaise sauce, and Arroyo Chop House's famous onion rings. We also offer live Maine lobster and fresh fish, Alaskan King Crab legs, fresh oysters, and shrimp. Compliment your meal with a bottle from our award-winning wine list and finish the night with one of our delicious desserts such as a Grand Marnier soufflé, warm apple pie, butterscotch pudding or chocolate pecan pie.

High quality food, beautifully prepared and top notch service. Cocktails were nicely done too! Prices are in line with other restaurants in this category, maybe even slightly less. We will definitely be back!

The steaks are expensive, BUT you do get what you pay for at Arroyo - USDA Prime beef. The filet mignon was worth every penny paid! I also highly recommend the lobster mashed potatoes. The asparagus was really good as well. The evening was capped with a nice souffle. All portions, including the steak, were larger than I thought they'd be. I plan to go back someday soon!

The meal was delicious as always. We have been coming here annually for almost 10 years. The steaks were juicy, tender and so flavorful. The sides were a perfect accompaniment with the steaks and the chocolate soufflé was a delightful end to the meal. We all had very happy tummies when we were done with our meals.

Once again, I am disappointed in the overall experience at this place. I’ve been coming here dozens of times since the late 90s. I like the ambience of the place, and I like the drink service. The food quality is not what it should be. The side dishes are good, but the main feature, the steaks, always disappoint. Tonight I had the aged New York steak. It’s about 12 ounces, before it’s cooked, and cost $67. Supposedly it’s aged for 40 days. First of all, for a prime cut, it’s not marbled enough. And then, aged 40 days it is not. There’s no way. It was too tough and slightly, mealy in texture. Also, I ordered it medium rare but it came as medium. Not juicy or tender. I’ve had choice cuts that were better. I don’t know if they just don’t age it properly or if they’re misleading. Either way it’s unacceptable. Oh well, it’s my fault for always coming back and expecting a different outcome. Definition of insanity, right?
