About

Arro is the latest endeavor from ELM Restaurant Group (24 Diner, Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden). At the helm of this casual French spot is ELM’s executive chef/partner, Andrew Curren, accompanied by his wife, pastry chef Mary Catherine Curren.

The focus of Chef Drew’s kitchen is a wood-fired grill, and he will continue his philosophies of preparing all food to exacting standards in house and incorporating local and organic products whenever possible. This commitment has earned him many accolades from local press as well as mentions in Food & Wine, Bon Appétit and Saveur magazines. Mary Catherine and her team will craft a thoughtful menu of both traditional and seasonal desserts on site, and bread will be baked fresh daily at Easy Tiger.

The exclusively French wine list was curated by two master sommeliers: Craig Collins and Devon Broglie. Classic apéritifs and handcrafted cocktails, as well as a thoughtful selection of beers, are available.

Food and service was excellent. It's a really cool place and my only complaint is that the tables for two on the back wall were entirely too close to one another... Literally just over a foot or so. My neighbor at the table beside me literally rubbed elbows with me.

Lovely setting, great location but overall Arro needs work. Food is good/ fair but not great. Beef Tartare a "house specialty" was poor... Burned toast, dice of the beef was to large and chunky for a tartare, and flavorless... Beets were good, Parisian Gnocchi, Steak Frites, all good but not great. Desserts ho hum. Waitress could not make the French press work for coffee. I expected more overall culinary skill and more flavorful French fare. Overall a decent experience but the greeting staff was rude and then sullen as they oddly had plenty of open tables, we had a reservation but kept trying to put us in a vacant side room.

Our dinner was outstanding, start to finish. Everything was impeccably fresh, artisanal, beautifully presented, and perfectly seasoned. The food was among the best restaurant food I have ever had, including many great meals in France. Ambiance: artsy, informal, a little noisy ( server graciously turned down the volume of music when asked).

First off the website is unclear as to the location. Let's try this, "SW corner of 6th and Nueces." They do have valet parking which is great for 6th St. Staff and waitress were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and prompt. The drinks were excellent as was the wine list. We had the fried blackeyed peas which were surprisingly delicious. Both my wife and I had the Bar Steak Frites (Steak and shoestring fries with a garlic aoli for the fries. Everything was delicious except that the steak was tough. A place like this should be able to get a better steak than this, heck I can get one at Costco.

I loved the food, especially the butternut squash salad. The wine list had great variety, and the night we went it was half price bottles. Which was a fun surprise. Arro is very comfortable, and the noise level is just right.

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to try one new restaurant a week. My parents were in for the weekend and I wanted to impress. Arro did not fail! A first for us all, we had no idea what to expect. I made a reservation for 5pm Friday. My parents arrived a few minutes before they were open. Someone told them to come back shortly and gave them a voucher for free bubbly and frites! The service started even before we sat down and it only got better. Amazing waitstaff, impeccable menu, and the wine selection was out of control. Really really well done from top to bottom. The 1/2 pound chicken may be the best chicken I've ever eaten and definitely a table pleaser. The Parisian Gnocchi was superb. Blood orange sorbet with crème fraiche. This is bistro food at its most luxurious. The best part was the quality of service from our waiter- Knowledagble, kind, charming and engaging. Can't wait to go back!

Not seated at a table despite reservation and timely arrival, host staff either inexperienced or lackadaisical. Emergency reservations placed and honored at another restaurant and apology received from friendly staff member. Drink was well made, staff generally friendly and professional on a busy night, obvious camaraderie that is nice to see. App eaten at bar was fine. Hopefully others will report an overall better experience.

Had a wonderful first date, came here because the beautiful ambiance in the pictures. Unfortunately they quickly sat us at the corner of the restaurant with a big window by the alley where a bright fluorescent light was shining through. We didn't let that bother us of course, but as I planned the date it bothered me that the ambiance I was trying for was ruined by the one spot in the restaurant they chose to sit us at. Maybe if we look like we're on a date they should sit us somewhere nicer? We were two guys and maybe they thought we were friends... idk.

GREAT food!

We got here for happy hour. The food was good and the happy hour drinks were even better!
Interior is nice and polished without being stuffy or trendy. We sat at the bar, the bartender made great drinks and provided excellent service.

Arro has declined into yet another sixth street saloon with a limited menu. Cuisine is faux french, more akin to bar accessories with a chicken or flank steak enhancement.

Our waiter was lovely and very helpful. When we arrived, it wasn't busy and we had a comped app and our first two ordered apps came out quickly. Then, it weirdly took about 40 minutes to get our third app (beef tartar) and an extra 15 to receive additional bread that we had requested. When we finally were given our main entree, we were no longer hungry because of the wait time. The wine was delicious and the music played was good.

My first time dining here, I enjoyed the experience from start to finish. Food was great, and I had the wine flight which allowed me to sample three different reds. Couldn't go wrong for $12, and the wines were good ones. Service was excellent, and I really liked the ambiance - being a fan of Easy Tiger, I was looking forward to trying Arro and wasn't disappointed.

Food was very good - Pig Ears, Bone Marrow and the Ora King Salmon were the highlights. The service was erratic. While I server didn't do anything wrong, he was rarely around and was always in a look of panic when he did show up. Luckily, the beverage manager was awesome! He poured all of our wine, gave us food suggestions and balanced everything out.

We have been to Arro and the other ELM restaurants several times in the past and always love the food. This is our first time since the new outdoor area was opened up, and we loved the addition! It opened up a whole new experience for Arro which has generally been confined to the bar area, tables, or side room. Our food was great, but the service could use improvement.

Great outdoor eating area . Managed a quiet table for four near the back corner ....dinner at 6....happy hour prices for starters and house wine...herb salad was very fresh and full of flavor...grilled okra was slightly blackened and perfectly seasoned.... Friends had quail and loved it. Wine selection has various price levels for any budget. We were there on a Wednesday night ...dreamy weather to eat outside. Our server was attentive but not pushy and the suggested wines went well with all.

The new patio is amazing, it feels like you are in a movie set, I love that you can bring dogs. The service was absolutely outstanding, all of the somms and servers are knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing I would add are round tables, especially on the new patio.

arro has changed the format of the dining experience and to me not a good change... while they have lowered their prices the resulting choices on the menu has been very restricted. before the change I would have considered the restaurant to be on a much higher level than a lot of restaurants in Austin and such attracted a more upscale crowd ... now with the new price point the restaurant is not much better than the typical restaurant one finds on 6tth street... also the restaurant has expanded their seating capability and the kitchen can not keep up and so wait for food is now just too long.. too bad they changed such a good restaurant...

Went to Arro to try the new menu. Definitely downscale from former menu but prices are lower too. More fun, casual bistro and less "fine dining". As appetizers we had watermelon salad, grilled okra, and bone marrow. The fennel in the salad was very interesting and quite good. The okra was also quite good and the bone marrow was very, very good. For main cures we had the Waygo steak which was excellent and the Gnocchi which was good. Good QPR. Very good wine prices.

To give them the benefit of the doubt, it was the first night of a new menu and an entirely new style for Arro. However, we had booked reservations long before and nobody bothered to tell us or publish that info anywhere. They only mentioned the construction of a new patio, which is cool, but not the coolest on 6th. We were expecting more of a long, French dining experience as it said on the website and we got a set menu that was short on options and not impressive. The steak was chewy and meh. The marrow was dynamite. Service and kitchen were a bit overrun, but you could tell they really cared and tried to make it up to us. We were just expecting something different. The wine selection and recommendations were all amazing, if a bit pricey.

Birthday celebration with friends. They were not serving escargot (very disappointing......it's in the menu on their website), they were out of mussels and the amberjack. Doesn't leave a whole more to choose from. Everyone got the steak frites. Drinks took a long time to make their way to the table and waiter was not very attentive. And, the restaurant was not very crowded. The chefs board was good, the steak frites was ok. Overall, was an okay dining experience. With so much to choose from in austin, it's hard to imagine going back.

If you like French wine (I do) then this is one of the best wine lists in town...not grandiose but some really delicious, non-obvious selections. And, as always, the service is tight and the food top-notch. Every time I go there, I wonder why I don't go more often.

If you re looking for a place in Austin that is worth the drive in to under construction downtown? Go here. On the corner of 6th Street W at 601 this valeted dining space is worth the trip.
The chef's board of wonderful cheeses, pork and lamb where a great start. The Gnocchi and the fish dish were outstanding. The servers were interested you serving you as a guest and help make wonderful choices. The deserts are to die for... The cheesecake and the Pots de cream are creamy an flavorful. The pastry chef know what's what!!!

We are spending several days here in Austin and look forward another trip before we leave.

The food was yummy, but the entree course was very slow to come out. We enjoyed the cheese plate. The steak had good flavor but was chewy. The okra had a nice flavor, but some pieces were difficult to eat. The gnocchi was delicious. The staff apologized for the entree holdup appropriately. Overall we enjoyed the meal.
