Hello

My wife and I had dinner last night at Argyle. We were disappointed last night. Here's why:

The meal was far from a value, compared to pricing for similar items on your regular dinner menu.
There was nothing special about the meal. The shared desert was cute and we were evidently expected to eat if off one plate. Not convenient, maybe cute for a high school date.
The Celeriac Bisque was virtually flavorless and the prosciutto at the bottom of the bowl needed to be cut to avoid putting the whole piece in your mouth. And it was not convenient to cut the prosciutto at the bottom of the bowl where it was impossible to see.
I ordered my fillet (5oz) medium well, not well. It was well. I was so disappointed after dealing with the bisque, I kept quiet.
My twice baked potato was less than three inches long, I know because I brought it home and measured it this AM when I had if with breakfast. What a lot of nerve, how can you not serve a decent potato?
Our waiter wasted our time with his endless explanations of everything, including the salt, as if we'd never eaten at the restaurant or any restaurant. We don't salt our food, whether it's smoked or in large chunks.
The amuse bouche was not clever and a waste of time.
There was too much interruption by the waiter and the others, that was supposed to be service. Folding the menu to the wine list was a blatant attempt to up sell me. I know how to read a wine list and when I want to read it. What was supposed to be nice, quiet dinner to celebrate the love of my life was awful.
And, I made the reservation through Open Table. It described the menu as 4 courses, we were served 3. Here's a management fail for not even looking at what the reservation service you use had posted. And of course, I would have been happier with another course, maybe..

It's not likely we'll be back to Argyle I'm kicking myself for not making a res at Vivace. My fail.

We really enjoy this lovely restaurant, but there are a few things that could be improved. The lighting is so dim (verging on dark) that it’s impossible to read the menu or sign the check without using our phone flashlight, which other diners were also doing. Pleasant soft lighting can certainly be achieved without being overly dimmed. Also the side dishes, which in most restaurants are large enough to be shared, are not large enough here. We barely had enough mashed potatoes for one serving, and the roasted root vegetables were woefully undercooked. “Al dente” veggies are one thing, undercooked is another. We go back to Argyle because of the location, the views—especially daytime and outdoors—and we honestly prefer the lunch menu to dinner. Lovely place, pleasant service.

We had a wonderful lunch with friends visiting from out of town. Service was impressive as always, and our lunch entrees were exceptional! Highly recommend for lunch - great views of lagoon, golf course and easy parking.

They were short on staff, so even though there was lots of available seething, everyone had to wait to be seated. The couple next to us sent back their drink, 4 people left because there was something wrong with the laddies restroom, we had to ask several times for things like napkins, forks, straws, bread, etc. What a mess, very disappointing!

We went for restaurant week (lunch). The full menu was limited and it was odd that they did not have a wine list. Service was amazing and the views were incredible. I had the grass fed burger and my husband had the brisket sandwich. Love both.

Food was fantastic, our server was not experienced enough though as what we are used too. We are residence of aviara and come very often. I’m surprised that dinner service was not of high quality.

Visited because of San Diego Restaurant week, and was pleasantly surprised with the value due to the special. Seating outside was lovely, with a view of the golf course and marsh. Friendly staff, who calls you by your last name upon greeting and with the menu. Calamari was a nice presentation, as it was "sticks" vs. the typical "circles". Chicken Sandwich was good, but should come with avocado and bacon. Was nice to have a choice of onion rings or fries, and they were light and good. Overall, nice experience. Regular prices are a pricey, but might be worth the view!

There were six of us for Restaurant Week. Service was great. Cocktails were great. Salads were just okay ... beet salad was tiny and wedge salad had hardly any dressing on it. Steaks were perfectly cooked but potato tots were served stone cold. We rejected them but they were served again and were still room temperature and had obviously been sitting for quite awhile. Cheesecake was delicious. Waiter was very attentive as were the servers and busboys.

Alex the manager was phenomenal in meeting unusual requests. Ryan our waiter and other staff members were nice, professional, knowledgeable and skilled and made the Birthday celebrations perfect.

Bob's never disappoints, always comes through in every important category. Cannot beat the quality of their steaks, always perfectly cooked to the requested amount. Service is unbeatable, staff so friendly, welcoming, and professional. Our absolute favorite in Carlsbad. Thank you, Bob's!

Excellent menu. Quality beef. Love how they grill with no oil or butter - beef is just that good.

Alex (our server) is a rock star and guided us through every course like a champ.

Wine list - excellent. Silver Oak and Duckhorn by the glass!

We have always enjoyed the Argyle Room for lunch. The food is delicious and the ambiance is lovely.
I wish the wait staff would be more considerate and not remove plates of those who have finished their meals before the rest of the guests have completed their meal. Also, the dessert was brought to our
table before two of the guests had finished their plates! There were plenty of empty tables so I
do not think they were in a hurry to vacate our table.

Great!!! Maitre D’ was outstanding and House Staff was very attentive offering spectacular service. Food was top notch! Great job Argyle! Bravo Zulu! Will be coming back again very soon.

We were dissatisfied with our table location and the staff was not particularly receptive to changing the table location. Considering the prices and reputation of the restaurant, the tables were bare and had no table cloth or place mats. There were to flowers or other decorations that one would expect from a restaurant like this.
Finally, for a simple standard Thanksgiving dinner, the price was very high and was not advertised in advance.
I have had much better experiences for less money.

I expected considerably more for the cost.
The service, while friendly, was mediocre at best. The food was overpriced and underwhelming. Ordered 5 Oz Wagyu, they cut it in half AFTER cooking it. Of course this is going to result in all the juice to run out. Sure enough a dry Wagyu steak??!!

Considering the price range of this place, get some white table cloths! Is this Outback Steakhouse? Probably would have had a better steak, more money in my pocket, and better experience had I gone there instead.

We loved Argyle! The service was stellar. The food was excellent- I had swordfish with a lemon butter sauce. We shared the sides among the group. The popovers are worth the trip ( served instead of bread or rolls). We had a party of 8 and had our own private dining area.

If you go for happy hour be sure to order the Asian chicken wings and truffles popcorn.

Our steaks were cooked to perfection and service was excellent. Only very slight flaw...the cushioned bench seating. Not comfortable on the lower back. Will opt for a table with chairs only next time.
