We have had dinner here in the summertime, outside on the river and it was lovely and delicious. Our winter dining experience was quite different. Seated by the window as requested for a special occasion, we were all frozen , which made it difficult to enjoy our meal. If the restaurant is unable to adequately heat that room, then it may be to their benefit to close it during the winter months and seat everyone in the main dining room. We rushed through our dinner, welcoming trips to the restroom to warm up in between courses. :-) We'll go back in the summertime when we can sit outside!
This was a very “okay” meal. The salads were fine: fresh but forgettable. The apps didn’t really sing to us, so we passed. The bread (for what it’s worth) was bad. I had the lamb and I will say it was a standout dish. Cooked to perfection, the lamb and pistachio crust was tasty, as was the jus that came with it. Potatoes were fine and the Brussels sprouts were soggy and disappointing. My boyfriend had the NY strip and although it was cooked perfectly (medium rare), it was just okay. Very pedestrian dish. The bread pudding was okay as well. The wine we chose was excellent, so cheers for carrying a decent bottle. I’m upset we wasted a night out on a meal that was overall disappointing and not noteworthy at all. The worst part was how over priced it was. I’d recommend Tarry Lodge or any other place for a better meal at a more reasonable cost.
The service, the people are good, experienced, educated. They know how to treat a customer. Portions are big but their taste are not the best. I do not know may be we were just unlucky with my husband but after we had dinner, we had both stomach pain.
Wonderful food, great space, nice employees - relaxed fine dining.
We went for Christmas dinner, and it was delicious. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Restaurant was full but service was great. Staff were attentive, polite and helpful. My son and husband ordered pasta dinners and I ordered chicken, all very good! Will go back again!
Excellent service and excellent food! We all loved our food. Each dish was made with perfection. We will definitely be back.
We went for Christmas lunch - couldn't have been better. Food good, service terrific - including accommodating a vegan. Thank you! We will return.
We went for Christmas Eve dinner and this was my first time dining here. We had an early reservation (6:30pm) and got there early (6:00pm). They seated us right away. There were only a few other tables seated at this time. We ordered our apps and within less than 5 minutes after the appetizers arrived they brought out our entires. We were clearly still in the middle of eating our appetizers and they just moved plates around to make room. We ordered the Bronzino with was under seasoned and the veal which was over cooked. In summary, the food wasn’t good and the service was rushed.
Very friendly staff and good food. Pizzas are not offered but are available and very good. Salads are good. Fish special red snapper was not as good as the halibut special last visit. $9 for chocolate lava cake with a scoop of ice cream was reasonable. One scoop of ice cream was definitely not worth the same price that we were charged. Very nice setting.
My first date went great she loved the food and the scenery
My three companions enjoyed their meals. I did not like my filet mignon. They were most apologetic and asked if I wanted a replacement, but I didn't need that. They gave me two wines glasses on the house and deleted the charge from the bill. I'll give them another chance -- but not for the same meal.
The service started out very attentive, wonderful description of specials, getting water and cocktails all went well. Although it was a Saturday night, the restaurant was not even 1/2 full, yet the service broke down when they brought the appetizers. They brought 2 out and then we waited, there was no reason they shouldn’t have come out at the same time as there was plenty of staff and the place was not busy. Once we got all the appetizers, the staff seemed to disappear except the nice girl who kept our water glasses full. They finally cleared the appetizer plates and then we waited and waited and waited. And, then waited some more. Finally, the waiter stopped by and said our entrees would be out soon. And, then we waited and waited again. They brought out 2 entrees and disappeared, it was quite a long, uncomfortable wait before the other 2 dishes appeared. The evening continued in the same fashion. We were 4 people in a restaurant that was not busy and it took 3 hours from being seated until we got our check. I can’t imagine what it is like when it’s busy.
All that said, the food was delicious.
Our meal certainly did not live up to expectations. The veal was so chewy, we had to cut it into small bites (wish we had thought to ask for steak knives). The restaurant was almost empty - not surprising if the rest of the menu was equally poor.
I have been here in summer and winter and had two very different experiences. I love the water views and in the summer this is one of the best outdoor restaurants on be water. I had great Salmon. Watermelon feta salad and more. Great service and ambiance. Recently, in Winter I ate inside. While still nice with great views it was a bit drafty with all the glass and being on the water. Also this time I had the salmon and it was just mediocre. The sides were good and service was very good but I will have to go again to see if the food improves.
Very good food quality. Portions a little skimpy for the price.
Great food, large portions, very attentive service
The place was EMPTY at 8 pm on a gorgeous Saturday night. We’d been there several times before and never seen it empty like this. Creepy ambiance.
We are regulars at Arezzo but something seems to have changed and all aspects of service have dropped to pretty unacceptable levels.
First time here with friends- definitely a nice time with very good food and service. We went early on a Sunday evening and it was not crowded, which made it very quiet and pleasant. Our server was very professional and understanding- there was a problem with the tonic dispenser (serving soda instead) and after two tries and their going out to get a tonic bottle, everything was fine- definitely went the extra mile!.
We'll be back!
Being a native New Yorker and Italian American who has traveled in Italy, I have a very high standard as to my expectations of Italian food. As a new resident of Connecticut, I’ve found that most of the restaurants I’ve sampled were OK, but not at the level I’ve grown accustomed to until I discovered Arezzo.
Simply put, the food is exquisite and the service is warm, professional and very attentive without being hovering. The ambiance is mellow and relaxing, great for a romantic dinner or large gathering. The outdoor space on the water looks wonderful (alas, weather was not conducive to outdoor dining at the time).
I can’t wait to go back, and now believe I’ve finally found my favorite Italian spot! I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed. This restaurant is also great for vegetarians and folks with gluten intolerance.
- Buona Mangia!
The restaurant is easy to find and parking is good. The servers were patient and understanding. The ambience whether inside or outside ( on the river) was great. Saturday night, service was a bit slow but the restaurant was busy. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Host and Waiter were very friendly and accommodating. Attentive to our needs. The meals were delicious. All of our questions were answered. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
My husband and I can't say no to Italian food, and Arezzo did not disappoint. With a great outdoor patio on the water we enjoyed a date night on Friday that was complimented by a hearty bottle of wine. The burrata as a starter was absolutely delicious and I can't say enough about the Paparadelle and Ragout.
Ambiance and food were superb... service on the other hand was below par...
Great food excellent service but they billed us for extra entrees.
I loved everything about this restaurant! The food & service was excellent-generous portions. Nice beers on tap & a view of the river was so pretty! I went with a friend and look forward to bringing my husband there soon-I know he’ll love it as much as I did!
Food was unique and tasty. Beautiful night outside
Service was friendly, but slow and they seemed overwhelmed with number of customers they had to serve
We went on Saturday. Maybe not the same on weekday
Wow. Went on a Saturday night. Service and food quality has seriously deteriorated.
Service was excellent, enjoyed the ambience, nice presentation, but people go to restaurants primarily for the food. Considering it is an Italian restaurant, the chef needs a cookbook.
Great food and location (that offers dining right on the river), but very disappointed by the service. We were a party of 4, and 2 of us received our meals 10 minutes before the others. To make matters worse, we watched meals get delivered to 3 neighboring tables as we waited. This is unacceptable at a high end restaurant.
Great location on the water and terrific menu. Service, while well-meaning, is a bit slow--seems they could use a couple more waiters. Food was superb!
My dinner was so poorly p
Nice view, easy parking in adjacent lot, waiter was attentive and food was excellent. We would come back.
Went here for my anniversary and had a great dinner. The waiter Paolo was amazing. The food wa delicious! I highly recommend the outdoor seating. The view of water was fantastic. This place is a true gem! Bravo!
Great views waterfront and nice ambience. The food was nothing special ....
I am in town working and so have been reading up on various restaurants and trying them out. I read very good reviews of Arezzo and the menu looked tasty to me. It is on the water and sitting outside on a lovely early evening was just beautiful. The service was mostly really good (my main waiter was not particularly friendly or helpful but everyone else was great). I would say the food is good but, for the price, the quality and caliber is not high enough. The ideas are good but not perfectly executed for the cost. Ingredients could be better, fresher. I ordered a watermelon salad to begin with. It was a special appetizer. Marvelous idea with cucumber, pistachios and dry ricotta. However, the watermelon was mealy, the temperature of the salad was warmish (not pleasant - it should have been cold and refreshing)) there was no dressing or whatever there was had no impact, etc. I will make it at home because the ingredients were a good combo (I usually use tomatoes not cucumbers but that is a nice addition) but mine will be better because I will use ripe and firm watermelon and balsamic of some kind and it will be cold. The homemade fettuccine (with funghi) was really good but the sauce, while good and filled with mushrooms and redolent of fresh thyme and the truffle oil it was advertised with, was quite over salted. This seems an egregious error, amateurish, masking the otherwise tasty flavors. After a few bites I felt such a sodium rush that I took the rest home. It is still in the fridge... I know I am sounding like a total food snob but it was reasonably expensive so I expected better. I can imagine someone having a different experience than mine. Perhaps I just ordered wrong. I think if you want nice pasta you could be pleased and the menu offers many other options besides pasta. However, for myself, I would not go back. I'll try one of the other highly recommended restaurants in the area. Westport and surrounds sure has a lot of them!
I am a regular customer here. Food is always good, service is just mediocre. Friday night I had the Halibut special and it was excellent. It came with a side of mashed potatoes which unfortunately were cold. We ordered desert for the table and coffee. They brought out the 3 coffees but forgot my tea. It is these little mix ups that prevent me from giving this restaurant an excellent rating. Funny thing is, I have never noticed a manager or anyone in charge walking around. Nobody has ever stopped by my table to ask how everything is. One other item I wish they would address. For parties of 4 they use these cheap folding tables outdoors. On 2 sides the folding legs protrude and don't allow you to sit close enough. By the end of the night you leave with a sore back.
The setting on the water is beautiful but food is always hot or miss. Service was very good.
Went with friends, three couples altogether. My husband ordered veal saltinboca (not sure of spelling) was suppose to have prosciutto- it didn't. Also, his dinner came out a good 7 minutes after the other 5. The veal was very tough. Our drinks also came at different times before dinner.
We ordered coffee and ask to see a dessert menu but instead he rattled off a few choices and walked away. We never had a chance to order dessert! The three ladies didn't finish so we ask for a take home bag. They arrived at the table with one bag and everything in it. We ask them to please separate then when the bags came we each got the wrong one.
