Arethusa al Tavolo Ratings and Reviews
One of our favorite restaurants in Connecticut. It's located in the quaint town of Bantam, a beautiful drive through the Litchfield Hills. They specializing in farm to table cuisine, everything is fresh and delicious. The staff is professional and very friendly. We absolutely loved everything we've eaten there!
The most impeccable service. our waiter Hunter was so helpful and caring. He explained everything to us and suggested items sometimes without any questions being asked! he really dedicated his time to us, the most I've ever experienced. without him we wouldn't have enjoyed ourselves nearly as much. the food was very good. obviously the prices are on the higher spectrum i.e. very small cheese platter for $26.00 but it was good to share and experience. they made us feel special for sure with complimentary tastings of a bite size appetizer and a shot glass of Arethusa milk with a small chocolate truffle for dessert (accompanied with appetizers and desserts we ordered). they do a good job of giving great service. i ordered the beef strip-loin for my dinner priced at $38.00 and although it was not the best steak I've ever had in my life (i prefer aged cuts) i definitely could taste the freshness and quality. the sides that came with it made the meal amazing. I would recommend ordering some type of appetizer before your meal because they are on the smaller size but for once i didn't leave a restaurant feeling overstuffed and sick. for 5 of us it was 320.00 each of us with 1 round of cocktails $12.00 each so figure around $65.00 per person w/ appetizer & meal as well. overall we really enjoyed the food and service, i'll definitely be back.
Food was exceptional. Waitstaff was very good. Only issue was we got there 15 min early and maitre d sat us but made us wait until our reservation time before giving us our menus. Odd to say the least. Never been punished for being a few minutes early before.
One of the better restaurants in the Litchfield, CT area Arethusa al Tavolo is definitely worth a visit and more upscale than the other pub/grill offerings in the area. Nice menu, perhaps some dishes a bit overwrought with too many ingredients and flavors instead of focus. End of meal shot of milk and chocolate bite has ties to Artethusa's next door Farm Dairy, which is a bit gimmicky. It's quality, nice atmosphere, and good experience nonetheless.
After hearing great reviews from family members I decided to take my boyfriend here for his birthday. We had a meal that was absolutely out of this world. From the presentation to the explanation of each dish to the wait staff that was very attentive, we couldn't have asked for anything else. We have already recommended to others and can't wait to go back.
We couldn't get a Saturday evening reservation, so opted for Sunday lunch instead for a special occasion. The creative menu had many choices and the four of us all ordered different dishes to maximize tasting opportunities. All the appetizers and main courses were delicious. We asked to meet the Chef to offer praise, and because the restaurant wasn't busy (it was pouring outside), he was able to chat with us for a few minutes.
We were in that area of Connecticut for a weekend and found the Arethusa farm, which lead us to Arethusa al Tavolo. The restaurant is about 4 years old and looks like it was built a week ago - it is pristine. The wait staff is exceedingly friendly, knowledgable and dedicated to making your meal a memorable one.
It was so hard to pick an entree that one of us picked two 'Beginnings'. The quality of the food and presentation were perfect. The decor is a little modern, but subdued. Very chic.
I would make the drive from NYC to have lunch or dinner there at any time.
And don't forget to visit the dairy/cheese store next door, or the sandwich shop across the street.
My wife and I had a wonderful lunch at Arethusa. We started with the charcuterie and deviled eggs, both of which were great. The staff was insightful on the selections and went above and beyond to give us background on some of the ingredients/sourcing of the food we ordered. Beyond that, we enjoyed our entrees and would recommend this little gem of a restaurant to anyone visiting the area.
I have never been inclined to write a bad review, but my lunch experience this past Saturday was very disheartening. We had lunch at Arethusa in June (a tourist down time) and the food and experience were outstanding. On Saturday, the fall season was in high gear and the volume of customers dining at the restaurant seemed to significantly dampen the wait staff's professionalism and cordiality and the chef's ability to produce high quality meals. I arrived very early for my reserved time and felt an immediate tenseness in the air. No warm greeting was extended by the hostess or manager and once my guest arrived we were briskly escorted to our table and menus were pushed at us. Throughout the meal, there were a number of problematic customer complaints which were handled by the manager, but while seemingly resolved this led to raised voices and significant disruption to all dining. At the end of the meal, we had barely finished dessert when our bill was thrust upon us. This was then followed by tense non verbal gestures from our server who clearly wanted us to finish and move along. Had my eggs benedict with speck turned out to be a phenomenal dish, I may have written this off as just a "bad customer" service day. Unfortunately, the overpowering flavor of the speck and burnt potato pancakes drowned out the light delicate flavor of the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce making this a very unbalanced, confusing dish. I truly hope that if I return to dine here again that the food, service and hospitality return to what I experienced this past June.
Food was fantastic as was the service! We were lucky enough to have an amazing day in October and the outside was open. Found outside dining even better than inside! If allergic to bees, not the best seat for you. The prices are a bit steep but honestly, if you are a foodie, worth the trip!
As always, Arethusa delivers. Fresh ingredients, innovative menu, amazing cocktails and service. It takes us an hour to get here, and it is absolutely worth it every time. If you are considering dining here, do not give it a second thought and reserve your table!!!
My husband and I totally enjoy Arethusa and do not mind the hour drive! This time we invited 2 friends and naturally food and ambiance was fabulous as we knew it would be! Our friends were very impressed with the restaurant and will be back!
After dinner we had the best ice cream at the shop next door....perfect end to a perfect day!
I would highly recommend this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the service was attentive and friendly. It's a lovely drive to this location with their amazing cafe and dairy right next door. It feels homey and upscale at the same time. Can't wait to come back for a special dinner!
