Who needs a reservation when you’re not even going to be served once you’re seated? Went for lunch on a Friday, actually had a reservation. Was seated, provided water. That was the last time we were provided anything to consume. Waitress came by 10 Hey Min after being seated, it was busy so we understood. The two of us ordered a sandwich and edamame, no drinks. 20 min after that we asked if we could have our edamame and the waitress quickly responded “food should be ready/ I’ll go get it” we then advised her we never received the edamame and she responded “oh yes, let me go get it”. 15 additional min later NO EDAMAME AND NO SANDWICHES. 45 min total we spent there and were served water, nothing else We then decided to leave. As we were walking out we advised the hostess, who was very kind and had served us on previous occasions, that we’d been here 45 min and had not even received our edamame. She said sorry and to let her check but at that point or lunch hour was wasted and we had to get back to work.
I understand it could get busy, but when the 2 people in the table next to us get seated after and get served Before we do (their SALMON looked delicious btw), then there’s a serious problem. Either she forgot to input our order or forgot to grab our food. Either way, we will not be going back and we will make sure to tell our partners the same.
Perfect for a quiet early dinner conversation meeting
This is a stylish restaurant. It has an Asian cuisine but heavily influenced by Japanese. The sushi and sashimi were exceptional. Featuring extremely fresh fish, the taste of the ocean was never far away. The dragon roll had a particularly deft crunch to it. Our server could not have been more welcoming or more professional. The wine list was good but like most Chicago dining, was over priced. This is a truly wonderful place to share a meal with someone that you like.
this was a very pleasant surprise! Great Sushi ... and the service was impeccable...
Took my wife for her birthday and made a reservation and they knew the special occasion. Even though there were very few people in the entire place, the service was the worst o have experienced in decades. The food was average at best. I will never go back there.
Disappointed as I have been coming here for lunch for years. Fast, courteous service and good food. In and out in about 45 minutes which is perfect for a lunch work. Alas, on this visit it was in and out in almost one and a half hours - our food didn't come until over a half hour, and then we could not get our check and had to ask the greeter to get our check for us. I don't know what happened but it was a bad day and a big inconvenience for us as we were running up against scheduled conference calls. Will go back but hope this doesn't happen again.
My wife and I had an amazing pre-theater dining experience. The service was prompt and courteous. We executive chef / owner was very friendly and enjoyed talking about his dishes. Definitely get the chef’s cervice which was delicious. We will be back!
Really enjoyed the sushi and cod...surprised it wasn't busier!
Service and ambiance was wonderful. Unfortunately the menu was not. We came for Asian fusion and sushi. What we got were dishes that were foreign to us. We ordered “yellow tail” and were served a large grilled bone. It was the leftover fish from the sushi chef. We had others but we were not pleased with them. The only good dish was the Asian ceviche. We left after the appetizers. No dinner.
We dined in on Friday and it was not busy at all. However, for some reason we did not get a server and had a hard time ordering food and getting someone to ask for something. It's so odd that we did not even get a server at our table. Although the owner? came to us and took our order but still we waited so long and it was not pleasant. The food was good but a little overpriced for the size and quality. I used to come here once in a while but i would not come back for a while.
Wonderful restaurant in the Loop of downtown Chicago. We only had sushi, although there are several other options on the menu. My husband said it was the best sushi (maki rolls) that he's ever had. Also, we were given a complimentary appetizer and the chef, Jimmy, came to our table to make sure we were satisfied with everything. He then brought us another complimentary sample of another sushi. It is a bit pricey for sushi, but that is expected in this area of the city. Overall, a very good experience.
Took some colleagues here after a long work day. Incredibly fresh sushi, sashimi that was hand crafted beautifully. Every dish looked amazing and the fish was very fresh. The spicy tuna roll was my favorite appetizer; wish we would have ordered more. Scallops were cooked perfectly. The pear sorbet with berry soup was light and delicious; perfect finish to a fabulous meal. Will come back next time I'm in Chicago.
Great sushi!! Nice menu with a good variety to choose from. Friendly service.
I've been to AraOn several times, both with friends and with clients, and it's always been a good experience. The food is delicious, the location is great, prices are reasonable. Generally speaking, service is quick. This time around, though, service was like molasses. We waited forever for our food and for our check. The whole thing took our group of 4 nearly an hour and a half to get through, when in the past I've done lunch in 45 min to an hour. It was incredibly frustrating. I hope this was just a fluke, otherwise, I will have to rethink coming here.
