Anthony's HomePort - Des Moines
Nice meal with good service
The food was amazing, the service was amazing, the place was packed and we had a blast! Anthonys never disappoints!
The 3-course sun set dinner is amazing! Great tasting options for all three courses.
The wait staff is very pleasant and attentive!
Good service and good foods as always. Good value
Appreciate that staff was taking measures to wipe down surfaces due to coronavirus.
Downstairs was closed. Upstairs menu was limited.
Well done. Food and service was very good
No complaints at all!
Great location and everyone was so nice. Food was tasty!
The food is very good here. I prefer the Wild Alaska Salmon with the cornbread pudding (yum). I love the combination along with the green beans.
Great views. Dinner was ok. Basically it felt like a touristy place. The service was great though.
I've already sent my feedback waiting to talk to general manager
The food was absolutely fabulous! We had appetizers dinner and dessert! Our server was spectacular! Love Anthonys and so happy it’s in my little town!
I love eating here, for the view, the ambience and the food. I can always count on good information on what's fresh, what's good, what to stay away from. This time, the rice was a bit underdone, and I commented on it to the server so the kitchen knew. Typically this is a 4 star restaurant at a 2 star price. Great value, a place I bring visitors.
We have been dining at Anthony's for over 35 years and this is the first time we have not had an enjoyable time. To start off we had a tray of 4 full glasses of water dumped on our table and two of us got soaked clear to our shoes. One of our drinks from the bar was served in a cracked glass. When our dinners were served one of them was not what was ordered and had to be corrected. To top it off, a group of 14 was seated across from our table and was so loud that we couldn't carry on any conversation at our table. We felt that some kind of compensation should have been offered for the water being dumped all over us and for the messed up dinner order and nothing was. Seating such a large group in the dining area didn't consider the rest of the guests in the area.
I feel as though My expectations were set pretty high and they did not deliver. The service was great, we had a very friendly waitress and our dinner was out extremely fast. The food was subpar, especially when comparing it to the price point. They do not do anything special for birthdays, I would definitely recommend Saltys instead.
Had an enjoyable lunch with an old time friend, location was good for both of us.
The $25 special was a great value. The sunset view was wonderful. The service was slow and not very attentive.
The food is always perfect, so many options, and the view ! top notch.
Delicious seafood with wonderful view and relaxing ambience.
Not sure what was going on during our last visit to Anthony's but the service was mediocre and the steak my wife received was gross. We asked for medium it was over cooked and no flavor at all tasted a bit like it was tossed into a microwave and warmed up. We would have asked for a new steak though our waitresses visits to our table was far and few between. We haven't ever had an experience at Anthony's like this before so I hope its not a trend going into the future. I would have to say if a person were to put a price on this meal it was probably worth $75 (with drinks) out of the $150 we spent.
We requested a quiet area since my mother/in-law is hard of hearing. We were seated at a far table by the window with a lovely view. It was perfect. Our server was lovely, patient and informative. Aside from an over dressed salad, I should always request dressing in the side, the seafood was delicious as was dessert. We enjoyed a leisurely dinner. Anthony’s is a favorite place for my mother-in-law and it had been some time since she was last there. We enjoyed a special evening together. Thank you.
Good dining experience. Went there on a date for Valentines Day. Loved the setting, but portions were a little small.
Valentine Day is always busy, but we had a great meal and fun time.
Exceptional service, fantastic food. Was a memorable Valentine's Day for my wife and I
Even though it was Valentines, our server made us feel like we were the only people there. We got our drinks and appetizer quickly, and refills on the beverages and bread was seemless. I look forward to coming back soon.
Excellent fresh food. The mahi mahi was out of this world. Though it was very busy we did not feel rushed. Sitting in the bar looking outside is outstanding. Though Anthony's is a bit pricey it is a great place for special occasions. Great variety and prices for happy hour!
My wife had the Mahi Mahi and loved it. I tasted it and it was great. You don't get much for the price but that's Anthony's. I had the fish and chips. Batter was a little soggy (perhaps oil was not hot enough) and the fries were not hot and crispy.
Once we were seated the service at the table was very good, and the food was very good. This after a discouraging beginning when the front desk mishandled our reservation upon arrival and again after waiting over twenty minutes. Poor front-end management.
On Valentine's Day the restaurant was very busy. No complaints about the service or wait time. We both ordered the mussel appetizer and were disappointed. In the portions delivered to the table there were shells without mussel meat. Other shells had tiny, tiny bits of mussel meat. Part of the mussel experience is dipping bread into the broth. However, at Anthony's, if you want bread you must purchase it separately.
Wait staff seemed overly rushed and stressed. Relaxed wait staff makes it a more enjoyable time. Stress rubs off on the customers. Was Anthony’s a little short on wait staff that evening. Most of the time service is excellent. Thanks.
Our visit this time was disappointing. One of the party got the crab toasts which she felt was very good, another guest got the Mahi Tacos which were mediocre and a disappointment from other occaisions. I got the pan fried oysters but the batter was a bit doughy, the texture felt as if they had set too long under a warmer. The help was a not as attentive as they should have been, we had to wait a long time to wave a server down to get a spoon for the soup.
Server was so attentive and we love the winter 3-course meal specials!
Anthony's is always a great choice for a special occasion dinner. Food was excellent!
It has been awhile since I have been to Anthony’s Homeport in Des Moines. This was a birthday celebration for my daughter. The food we ordered and the service was great. Ashley our server was always checking to see how we were doing & making sure if we needed anything & servers going around asking if we need more coffee and cream. Thank you.
A little loud, it was very busy in the dining room. Food was ok and the service excellent.
Food was great. Of course you can't help but love the view. Only thing in my case I was busy trying to handle two 90 year olds on their 69th anniversary. Would love if the waitress had asked if we needed our parking validated. Thankfully it wasn't downtown price since I forget all about it. All in all they had a wonderful time. Would always recommend Anthony's!
There was no single thing that made it a sub-par experience, but many small annoyances. A few items were: Some of the waitstaff was great, but one was missing in action for most of the meal which made ordering things difficult, one of the drinks didn’t show up until half way through the dinner, the main meal took nearly an hour to show up, one entree was thoroughly over cooked, the house lights were really bright, glaring the windows so much there was zero view even though it was one of their best tables, and so on. I considered actively complaining at the time but I’ve had to do that before at one of Anthony’s restaurants and I’m not comfortable being the guy who always finds fault, plus the waitstaff I’d complain to was missing. So we just dealt with it.
