Anthony's HomePort - Des Moines Ratings and Reviews
Met on a Sunday evening with a party of six. The seating was exactly on time. The table comfortable and with an excellent view of the waterfront. Waitress was friendly, but got down to business with drink orders and a review of the Sunday menu options. Drinks were delivered quickly, dinner order taken and she reviewed each order to make sure it was correct. Food came within a very reasonable time, hot, tasty and exactly as ordered. Prices are very reasonable considering the food is fresh and local (prices compared to comparable Seattle dining were VERY reasonable). Excellent experience. Would absolutely recommend to others.
The food was fantastic, and the prices were quite reasonable, especially for a seafood restaurant. We went at night, so didn't see the views, but I'm sure they're lovely, and it sounds as though in warmer weather there's a lot of outdoor seating. We'll definitely be back.
Had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, even though we were on time & the restaurant wasn’t busy at all.
Lobster, baked potato, string beans were delicious. Loved the sourdough bread.
Great service by wait staff. Windows seats, but too dark to see the view.
However, the key lime pie was not good at all. It was too sweet and didn’t have much lime flavor. Could only eat a few bites
My 26 year old son called me out of the blue to see what was new with me... been about two weeks since we talked. He works in South Seattle, I work in Federal Way. Anthony's Home Port is half way between us. I felt end of holidays, would love to have a special lunch with my son, so I made online reservations for 11:30 am. We pulled up at the same time. Anthony's was having a steak and lobster tail special. We both had that and a side salad. Great location, great atmosphere and food. We really enjoyed it. What a thing to have sons that are doing well in life and appreciate family and their father. It was very good!
Service was much too fast - we felt rushed throughout the meal. We ordered beer & glass of wine, they brought out bread and water, as we requested. Salads arrived quickly, which is good. However, the entrees were brought out and we had not yet finished our salads. They removed ones salad plate before he could finish his last few bites! Same thing for ordering dessert, server wanted us to order before we finished our drinks and the main course. Of course, the bill - almost $90 - was brought out quickly too! I guess it's better than waiting for a server who doesn't show up. racing thru 3 courses - not my idea of a pleasant Saturday evening meal. The whole meal took One hour, total, from being seated to signing the check. Nice location, but couldn't get a refill on water, food average at best, and RUSHED service. Thanks for validating parking, but it was not an enjoyable meal.
Nice place. Busy night we almost got ran over in the parking lot. Service was great but she had a hard time hearing us over the noise. We ordered the seafood fettuccine and crab fettuccine. They both were bland without much flavor. I've ordered this several times and have never been dissatisfied. But we still finished them. The crab cakes were great but pricey for 2. Desert is always good. Get the lava cake! It's worth the wait!
I had made a reservation asking for a window for a birthday party but they put us way up in an extremely dark corner. It took us forever to get drinks and our food and the waitress messed up two of our orders. The prices were extremely high especially for how little food we received there was no Ambience at all. Our bill was over $400 and they could not even give us one free birthday dessert we will not be going back.
Very disappointed in the service from the hostess. Two of the four of us hit there a little early so decided to go to the bar and wait for the other two. We ordered drinks. Our other guests arrived about the same time as our drinks. We had to pay our bar tab before being seated in the dining room and also had to carry our own drinks into the dining room, even though our hands were full with bags of holiday gifts. I have never been in a situation like this where the bar tab wasn’t just transferred to the dining tab and our drinks weren’t brought to our dining table by a server or hostess. Very disappointing.
We took advantage of the sunset menu, which was a great value. We had an evening engagement and told the waiter and everything moved like clockwork. The pan-fried oysters were nicely done--slightly crisp but not overcooked. The cod very fresh and moist. We were a bit late for the sunset but were seated next to the window and the water and boats were lovely. I also appreciated the relative quiet. A nice ambiance for relaxed conversation
We were a party of four celebrating a special accomplishment by one in our group on a Friday evening. We have had excellent experiences at Anthony's Seattle waterfront location on prior occasions. We chose Anthony's in Des Moines this time because it was a more convenient meeting place for our group. Also, a couple of us had been to the happy hour at this location multiple times in the past and it was very good. Unfortunately, when it comes to dinner service, there is little comparison between the Seattle and Des Moines locations. Our mussels were funky (how did the kitchen not catch that?) and our steaks were overcooked--definitely not the medium rare we requested. A tough tenderloin filet? That was a first for me. The drinks were good - so kudos to the bartender. But the kitchen needs to work on their quality control. Our server was the bright spot of the night and really saved it for us with her upbeat attitude, sense of humor, attentiveness, hustle and overall professionalism. My excellent cocktail and the quality of service (including the young man who cheerfully greeted us with our water) were the only sign we were in an Anthony's establishment. My advice to ownership is to get someone down there from your Seattle location to instill your company's ethos (especially in the kitchen) to preserve your good name. The current on-site management team obviously doesn't care.
