As always, it was awesome!
Our third time to Anson over the last month and a half. Each time our experience was excellent. We do prefer sitting upstairs where it is quieter. Favorite entrees are the whole flounder or the scallops. Their ceasar salad is one of the best we've had as is their creme brûlée. Look forward to our next visit.
Great food, great service.
Everything from apps to dessert was awesome. Service was great, setting was beautifully decorated for Christmas.
We wanted to have an excellent dining experience while we were in Charleston for the night. Anson’s never disappoints. Excellent service, food, and drinks. The menu always has a great mix of traditional standards and then options with lots of flair.
Food was excellent and server was awesome. She was very helpful in helping us make a choice. She even went as far as to show us how to cut our flounder off the bones.
I suggest that you move all workstations out of the line of sight of the dinners. Watching and hearing staff scrape dirty dishes while eating is a turn-off.
Crispy flounder is still worth the trip. Can't go wrong here.
Very nice! Steak and flounder were fabulous.
Always the best food and service!
Best dining experience we had in Charleston! The host and our waiter, Rafe, were incredibly hospitable and lead us in the right direction for our meal choices. The restaurant felt homey and warm and inviting. We had the Osso Bucco which was falling off the bone and the Veal Parmesan which was so good, especially when paired with the pasta (the sweet sauce was unreal!). When we left, the host came out and took our picture for us by the beautiful flowers and store sign. Truly such kind and genuine service, which is not something we found in every restaurant during the off season.
Good place to eat, service and food is good nothing exceptional. I was a bit disappointed with the ambience the upper part of the restaurant looks like a hall and all the chairs are banquet gold chairs, not very warm at all.
Food was sub par for a restaurant competing with those like High Cotton. Also, no bread anywhere in this restaurant? Seriously? I had a pasta dish, still no bread! Not even saltines with salads. We’ve had much better meals at chain restaurants at 1/3 the price. Will not go back and do not recommend it!
Family visit to Charleston. We wanted delicious upscale food but not in an overly upscale fancy restaurant. Anson was perfect! Wonderful atmosphere (loved the warm feeling decor upstairs !) and delicious food (we had the fried whole trout and it was expertly prepared and amazing tasting!!) Their in house ground grits are the best I’ve ever tasted! The service was impeccable - so friendly, attentive and professional.
Service was great. Friendly atmosphere
We are locals and love Anson. The fried flounder is outstanding and the new roasted oysters are wonderful too!. We are alway made to feel welcome and love the service we received. I had the halibut last night and it was exceptional. Don't forget the pecan pie, just like Grandmas!
Great food and service. Wonderful atmosphere.
What use to be my favorite restaurant has gone down. I always order the signature dish the crispy flounder . This time was dry and had very little apricot glaze on it. I haven’t been there in about a year but was disappointed in the food When we left the restaurant manager seemed very unconcerned about the flounder. Saying we should have asked for more glaze and admitting they had reduced the amount of glaze they put on the flounder Probably will try other restaurants now instead of going back here. Service was average. Waiter pouring water from across the table and getting it on the table cloth and didn’t ask about food after served.
Everyone in our party of five ordered different entrees and only one person enjoyed the flavor.
Food was great but drinks were awful.
Very good experience all around. Great steaks, appetizers, and awesome deserts!
Good place to quiet time and delicious dinner! Very good food and well trained stuff! Recommend!
A Charleston gem and a true southern dining experience ! Our dinner of fried okra and the famous flounder dish was outstanding. Wait staff was efficient, thorough ,professional and friendly. The ambiance is cozy, charming, lively with a touch of southern elegance!
Darnell was top notch in his knowledge of food and drink! Would highly recommend!
Always a great meal at Anson. You can't go wrong here, it is our go to when we are in Charleston.
Food and service were excellent. Highly recommend!
Everything was perfect! The okra and shrimp and grits appetizers were delicious. The whole grouper was as amazing as it always is. The crème brûlée was so good! The entire evening was a wonderful way to celebrate a joint birthday.
Service was great. Flounder was wonderful. Veal was way overcooked.
My wife and I had the Crispy Flounder. Everything was great.
Delicious food, attentive service, great ambiance. Highly recommend!
Food was excellent as was service. It was however a bit pricey. Limited wine selections by the glass. I was expecting more in the way of a Southern low country menu. All in all a good time.
Great experience from welcome to the check. Friend green tomatoes were top-notch. The service was fantastic. Recommendations from our waiter (Darnell) were on point. Ambiance, check. Would recommend for anything from a date night to family dinner to a group of friends.
The service was very welcoming. Food are amazing, their flounder and shrimp&grits are so delicious!
Great atmosphere and good service. Biggest complaint was lack of seasoning on the food. Everything from the okra to the steak to the shrimp and grits needed a bit of salt.
Great spot. Would go again. Service was great
Very consistently good!
As always, another great experience. Incredible food prepared for and delivered by Charleston hospitality like none other. A great venue for families, couples or anyone wanting to enjoy some of the best Charleston cuisine. Tonight, I again had their signature crispy flounder which again lived up to my expectations. A+
Great Resturant! We love this restaurant. Service is normally great. This time we felt rushed after sitting down at 8:00pm. We were out with friends and they mentioned the same thing. This was a first, so will definitely go back and hope not to get same waiter.
