Food was not great.
We had great service. The last thing we were served was coffee snd it was luke warm. Even the refills were not hot. We ordered coffee because we wanted a nice hot drink before stepping out in the rain.
Food was an issue. Catfish served cold and Flounder tasted reheated. Didn’t say anything while we were there due to with family. Disappointing.
Just an all around wonderful experience, ambiance was perfect, the setting was beautiful, the service was exceptional, and most of all the swordfish and the filet mignon were just perfect.
Great Experience ! We were joined by friends from out of town and this was our first time at Anson. Our waiter Will was outstandiung ! Every reccomendation he made was spot on. The fried flounder, tile fish and swordfish were all excellent and the shrimp and grits were our best since moving here in 2017. We will be regulars here for sure!
Food and service was great! You have to try the fried green tomato appetizer- delish!
Food and service was wonderful. Pricy for a local draft beer. We were seated promptly even though we were 20 mins early. Will be back!
The food, atmosphere and especially the service were exceptional. We have never had a bad experience.
We had a lovely Valentine’s Day dinner. One of our favorites.
Our first visit to Anson was Valentines night before seeing the very funny Queen St Theater production of ‘I love you, you’re perfect, now change.’
The food was fantastic. We both had a fish special (two different dishes), cooked perfectly, and very very good. Our server was Jackson. He served us flawlessly, including a very good wine recommendation.
I am sure we will return on a future visit to Charleston. We stay at the Indigo Hotel and Anson is a two block walk from there...
It was a great evening.... Indigo, Anson, Queen St Theater.... made for a wonderful Valentines night...
Great, we really enjoyed it!
Never disappoints! Four of us had an earlier reservation a 5:45. Service was excellent - so sorry I don't recall our server's name. Everyone was delighted with their choices. The whole crispy flounder is just delicious but it is a whole flounder so consider how hungry you are or how much you can actually eat! The apricot shallot sauce is somewhat sweet. Appetizers: shrimp and grits appetizer is almost enough for a meal and is so good. The fried oysters are among the best any of us have had. Fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese? If you are a Southerner, this is heaven. We have been here several times and it is always a treat - lovely service and delicious food!
We always enjoy going to Anson’s. There was a group of young loud patrons with a very load intoxicated guest. Otherwise great meal and service!
Great waiter - mediocre food
Great to return to Anson;first time we’ve been back since the fire! So much charm, ambiance was great. Our waiter, Darnell, was outstanding and the food was delicious. We won’t wait so long to return!
Excellent food and service. A lovely dining experience. Highly recommended.
Incredible food! Loved the Atmosphere’ lovely evening!
It had been 8+ years since I was last in Charleston, when at the time I lived there. The experience was everything I remembered so fondly, it to be!
Lovely evening. Attentive service. Delicious Charleston seafood. One suggestion - a more leisurely pace would be nice; entrees arrived shortly after orders were given.
Wonderful all around
One of our family's favorite local restaurants for the past 20+ years. Amazing food, top notch service, equivalent to some of the nicest restaurants in Europe and New York.
wonderful dinner. perfect service. Will be back for sure
Anson was a great sining experience. Our server, KJ, was fantastic. She answered all dietary restriction questions and made delicious recommendations. The fried green tomatoes with bacon jam and pimento cheese were outstanding.
IF 10 STARS WERE AVAILABLE I WOULD DO 10. THE OWNER AND WAITER WERE GREAT. THE ATMOSPHERE QUIET AND ELEGANT. THE MENU EASY TO UNDERSTAND. THE FOOD WONDERFUL. COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. WENT ON A RECOMMENDATION FROM MY BROTHERS WIFE. VERY GOOD ADVISE. SHE IS FROM CHARLESTON, WE ARE FROM COLUMBIA SC.
Everything was fantastic
Poor salad; a rip off
Excellent fried green tomatoes and whole fish
Service could be better
Our experience at Anson was great as usual. Jackson gave us superb service and chatting with Phil was an added treat. The only mid-step was that I ordered the scallops (in my head I wanted the scallop special) but I got the regular scallop dinner.
Did I say anything? No, because I didn’t realize it until the wee hours of the next morning! Delicious never the less.
Good food although the sliders were a little too salty. Great fried chicken and creamed corn
Prompt, excellent service. Fried oysters piping hot and crispy, tilefish and succotash perfectly prepared. Crab cake mostly crab! Sancerre correctly chilled. Great dinner.
We love Ansons. The manager and staff are wonderful. They and the food bring us back every-time we are in Charleston.
I was satisfied with the food and the service was great!!
We had a great experience. Outstanding service and the food was excellent.
There was a fairly long delay after ordering our food before the meal came out. The waiter apologized, I doubt it was his fault. That was the only negative about our meal. Everything else was excellent.
Very good food with excellent service. Fried flounder is fabulous. Easy walk to all downtown sites. Full bar. Parking is a challenge.
The last 2 times I have been the noise level was quite annoying to the point that I will have a hard time recommending Anson's to my out of town quest. The food was great and service .
Many better options in Charleston, Anson is very average.
Anson has been one of our favorite restaurants for many years and they hit it out of the park the other night. We arrived and our booth was ready, which during Restaurant Week in Charleston is often not the case at other restaurants. Billy, our server, arrived quickly, welcomed us warmly, and took our drink order. Our guests had never dined there, so he gave them a quick overview of the classic dishes on the menu and what was particularly great that night. He brought fresh bread, which we usually skip so as not to be too full, but once one of our guests tried it, we actually cleaned out the basket. For appetizers, one guest ordered the she-crab soup, and two of us ordered the fried oysters--delectable! For entrees, three of us ordered the flash-fried flounder, which is a show-stopper; my husband ordered the catfish. The flounder was accompanied by the best baby butterbeans I've ever had. My husband's catfish was on a bed of succotash. We all cleaned our plates--we laughed about it later--it was completely silent once our entrees arrived we were eating so hard. What a neighborhood treasure! We can't wait to go back.
