Cheap for portion size, the mango lassi was massive, however food was average and service wasn't good.
service need to be improved. We waited for someone to take orders for dessert, sadly no one came. One of the dish was requested to be more spicer, sadly it was not. Overall good value for money. Good veg option.
The restaurant advertised a 50% lunch discount but refused to give me one. That was dishonest. Plus, the food was not good and one of the worst examples of Indian food I have had.
The place is very tastefully decorated and it feels more like an evening place - rather than lunch. We had a 50% off A La Carte menu - so tried it for a team lunch. Starters were small and disappointing. Tasted ok. Mains were much pretty for taste and portion size.
Glad I wasn't paying full price - doubt i'll go again unless there is an offer. Staff were fairly good but came across slightly unexperienced.
It was an okay lunch. No serious complaints but then again no major compliments either.
I dislike leaving a negative review but this restaurant's shortfalls invite one I'm afraid.
It's nice enough inside and friendly BUT, the menu choices are very limited with several 'favourites', including prawn dishes being unavailable . This a bit of a con as one of our party, upon enquiring if a prawn Dhansak was available, was offered king prawn at £12.95 (or £13.95?). This was ordered but was found seriously lacking in flavour which, for twice the price of the more tasty 'regular' prawns, was very disappointing. This was more galling because the option was only taken up because of a general lack of choice.
In addition, the raitha supplied with our popodums was also particularly tasteless, the pulao rice a strange unappetising grey colour and the naan breads quite greasy.
There are far better alternatives quite close by and they will get my future patronage.
Great City location
Great food selection
Lovely service on New Year's Eve, staff very nice ! Food great, thoroughly enjoyed it overall a great place for a reasonably priced Indian.
Really good food. Well priced and good honest service
First time and thought it was okay without being outstanding. Nice to see a few other people eating as well, very often with these Indian restaurant's they fail to attract a lunchtime crowd. The 50% offer is good as I felt the menu price was a bit steep compared to places of a similar nature.
Food was tasty but service was poor! Booked via the App with 30% discount however bill around with full amount! Quite disappointed with that, they knew full well we booked via app, clearly trying it on to see if they could get away with it! Wouldn't go back on this basis despite the food being nice as don't like being cheated! If you don't want to offer discounts don't provide offers via open table
I recently visited Anokha with a fellow foodie friend. We love Indian food but more than that we love food that has that extra special taste.
Anokha has outstanding flavour and we should know because we tried so many dishes. From the King Prawn starter and the othe four we tried lol to the Lamb Shank and the Lamb Jalfrezy, all were exquisitely presented, staff were warm and very chatty. And oh the naan bread was soft & fluffy.
Anokha also accepts the tastecard which took 50% off of food so we were over the moon.
We went here for a leaving lunch on a Tuesday. The place was very quiet and the service disappointing. The food was indifferent, their website built up an expectation of something special however. The 50% off food was the attraction but still £30/head.
Booked this restaurant as it was the closest Indian to the hotel (the missus is pregnant and can't walk far) and we were both very happy that we picked this place. It's hidden amongst the backstreets and so I would never have found it if it wasn't on Opentable. The staff were great (the main guy in particular, however Im sorry I have forgotten his name) very polite and courteous. For a Sat night in the city the place was busier than expected and the atmosphere was just right. The starters were excellent, especially the king prawns (although an extra one or two would have been even better). The mains were delicious, and I would recommend the lamb shank. The only bad point I could make was we were charged for poppadoms we never received (the manager did take them off the bill when we pointed this out) however, on the plus side it's not a bad thing we didn't get them as we had more than enough to eat as it was.
A great place in the City for a curry - and the lamb shank curry is really good!
We visited the restaurant tempted by good reviews and 50% off offer and haven't been dissappointed. The food was fantastic, much better than you can find in majority of Indian establishments in the town. Also the service has been great and although we've been the only guests at the time, we felt really welcome and comfortable. Overall a really good experience, highly recommended.
Terrific quality Indian - not oily or too heavy and with the offer it's extremely good value.
great food at Anokha, service was good after a slow start, ambiance very nice and exceptional value with the offer
Slightly off the beaten track, this contemporary restaurant offered good quality food that not only tasted different but was fresh and unlike many other Indian restaurants, not oily. The lamb was good quality and very tender. The vegetarian dishes were unusually delicious. Service was good and comments made were taken on board. e.g. I felt that a sauce should have been served with the Shish-kebab. This was instantly rectified.
I would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant.
I enjoyed the food here but the portions weren't great, starters were very small therefore quite overpriced for what it was. But service was good, the restaurant is very nice looking and with 50% off it was not too bad.
Very nice Indian food with great service. Definitely a cut above your average Indian restaurant and good enough to take clients.
