Service was bad. They stained my dress despite I asked them to be careful with the oily dishes when removing from table. They were very confused about the food intolerance asking several times and adding the intolerant item and the client had to ask for every dish.

Friendly staff food was gorgeous highly recommend it just book ahead as a lot tried to get in and there where no tables left

The friendly staff, combined with good food and great location made this a really enjoyable evening. Haggis bon bons were spot on, and the chicken was really flavourful and tender. Good choice of wine too. Glad we chose this for our last night in Edinburgh.

It was everything we hoped. The atmosphere was electric and the servers were very attentive and the food was amazing. We had the beetroot salad, oysters on the half shell and the ribeye with peppercorn sauce. If I could give them 10 out of 10, I would do that!

All the staff that served us were lovely and attentive. We were at the restaurant a few years back and saw the menu changed quite significantly since our last visit. All was lovely. Crab with the rissotto didn't mix well in my opinion but the £40 fillet steak was lovely. All fantastic but was recommended to 2-3 starters was too much for me and my partner. A fine restaurant

Excellent food and service. Staff gave a warm welcome and were attentive throughout. A little pricey but probably in line with most quality restaurants in the centre of Edinburgh. The menu could perhaps have a greater choice. Overall a very good dining experience.

This is a hard review to write as 3 diners enjoyed their food, mine was over cooked to the point the chicken was inedible. So have been fair and given a 3 star review. It is a lovely place in a great location, but there are things missing here. We were a party of 4 and the waitress did not explain the menu. Given they sell small plates which are not labelled small plates, you have to guess what you are ordering. It would be better for the staff to explain the menu when you are seated. The mains are also very small and it would be better if they explained what sides would be appropriate or encourage you to have a starter, as we left hungry after the meal. The staff were friendly and took off my main and the service charge for my poorly cooked chicken dish. It is an expensive restaurant with 2 finger length strips is chicken charged at £25 with no side dishes. This is itself is not an issue if the staff make you aware and you can order appropriately. It was embarrassing for us as we were entertaining a customer. I would not return as there are restaurants who are more consistent with the food and service that I would visit instead.

Delicious locally sourced and creative menu including haggis bon bons, smoked salmon and sea trout with sea beans served in a tranquil back dining room during a late afternoon refuge from the rain. The host was very accommodating to moving up our original reservation to an hour earlier which was much appreciated. Wait staff were all welcoming and responsive to menu questions. A quiet treasure on the busy Royal Mile!
