I was very disappointed that a 2 year old child was seated with his parents in the main dining room. The child was not well behaved and the staff did not seem to take any notice. I will never go back there again and felt that the over 70 crowd was not welcomed. Don't forget, we are good tippers.
Very noise atmosphere. Meals varied, scallops were outstanding but rib dish was a big disappointment. Great service!
We love American Beech and make sure to have dinner here each and every time we visit Greenport, which is at least four or five times per year. Really cool ambiance, fun cocktail menu, and most importantly good food. The burger which was recently added to the menu (last year or two) has become one of our favorites and we love the duck wing appetizer. If you’re staying in Greenport I highly recommend this spot for pre dinner cocktails and then a sit down meal.
Everything we’ve had here is great — fried chicken, brussel sprouts, pork Milanese, burgers, squash latkes. Staff is very nice. Definitely get the brussel sprouts!
Love this place. Has become our usual first stop when we get into Greenport. Always choose to sit at the bar because we love the bar staff so much.
Ambiance is great. There is beautiful outdoor seating. They told us they have blankets, but when we asked for one it was never brought to us. Some of our meals were excellent, but the short ribs were a huge disappointment. It was more like a bowl of noodles. Hard to find any short ribs .
EXTREMELY NOISY VERY UNPLEASANT
All appetizers must be prepared in advance. Every time we have been there, the appetizers come out within 5 minutes. Entrees come out extremely fast also. They want to turn over tables. TIP: Do not order entrée until you have finished your appetizer.
Love this place! Limited but great menu.
I fear American Beech has become almost too popular! It is a happening place, but lost some of it's charm. And is very loud.....
It was a great experience. I only have one complaint and it’s about the outdoor bartenders. Number one, they weren’t friendly. And number two, we ordered 4 cocktails and we were standing at the bar drinking our cocktails. And when we turned our backs for a few mins, they took our cocktails away! We all probably only had three sips! We then of course had to order new cocktails and when we got the bill, they charged us for the ones they took away!
Really loud spot that tries too hard to be Hamptons-esqe. Went there for dinner, but spent all of dinner listening to super loud music and dealing with drunk 45 year old men stumbling around. Also - two bathrooms for the whole place and bar - serving hundreds of people ... poor logistics. Won’t be going back.
Food is exceptional! Get the shrimp curry - I know it feels like an off order @ this place but it was exquisite!!
Small menu - nothing unusual. Asked for my burger "medium", came out raw in the middle. Sick for two days afterwards. Noise was loud. Lots of noisy children under 4. Ordered food which came out before my wife came out of the bathroom (ten minutes?). Clearly the mid-day focus is on turnover - getting the most bang out of the tables they have, and perhaps the outside bar running up tabs. Pricey too. Built around attracting the 25-40 millennial crowd.
Bottom line: unless you are visiting from NYC, have young children, want quick service / overpriced simple fair, and don't mind dropping $$$, don't go. There is lots of fine food elsewhere in Greenport. PS: return the burger if not cooked all the way through. I didn't, and I paid
All the dishes were outstanding and the servers super attentive and knowledgeable. Best restaurant in Greenport if not all of NoFo.
My husband and I were looking for a place that was vegetarian friendly. We had been to American Beech before and I noticed in addition to their other vegetarian options that they added The Impossible Burger to their menu. We both ordered the Impossible Burger. For appetizer, he had the tuna crudo and I had the watermelon gazpacho. We had a very nice and delicious dinner and a great evening.
My second time there. I first time the Fluke was much better, I was disappointed.
Food was ok but not all great. Pasta was bland. Duck wings were great. Tuna crudo was warm. Fluke was tasty but otherwise just ok. Service was competent but kind of aloof.
Food was very great. Drinks were amazing. Atmosphere was very cool. I would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back!
We love this place.....food is terrific and a reasonable value..................it can be used for anyoccasion
Hectic, loud, crowded. Food okay, service doing its best.
We ate at 5 PM on a Sunday evening. The outdoor bar is always energetic; we ate inside but the doors were open, so the noise level bothered some in our party. As locals we are used to it and don't even hear it but that was not the case for our visitors.
The staff was very courteous and professional and the food was amazing! We were extremely pleased with our meal! The only minor complaint is they had a DJ set up in the bar area outside which made outdoor dining impossible for our family.
Could have easily rated food a five, if, honestly, the strip steak, while cooked exactly to my taste, was a bit tough and room temp when delivered. Staff was attentive and very accommodating, even to the pint of searches no put a decanter for the wine I brought in. Corking fee is a tad high compared to other local restaurants, but this birthday celebration warranted something special from my cellar.
The food at American Beech was delicious. We tried the burrata and mac n' cheese appetizers, scallops with corn salad and flounder. Everything was fresh and flavorful.
We dined at American Beech last year and liked it enough to return with visiting family. Ambiance, location and bar were as nice as we remembered. Unfortunately, the waiter was barely polite, and the food was not nearly as good as we remembered (especially considering the prices). Would return for the bar, but probably not for dinner.
We enjoyed our meal but tables are much too close together. Service was good and it’s fun to eat outside. The location is good in the charming town of Greenport.
We felt tucked away and relaxed in this atmospheric spot. The menu was full of interesting choices using local ingredients. A meal here is a mini vacation!
Eat at the bar, hopefully being served by Ryan, and order the Duck Wings to start your meal, not to mention a delicious cocktail. ;-)
Service was very good. Appetizers were small and relatively expensive for what you got. Main meals were acceptable, not over the top for the price.
Not the first visit to American Beech. As always - food is very good, cocktails - perfectly created and blended, service attentive, yet not annoying. Highly recommend to visit while at Greenport NY
2nd time with our server, she is wonderful at her job and lovely! Please thank her
Great food, amazing service, really fun vibe outdoors. So glad they had veg options and were willing to make menu adjustments for vegetarians. Would recommend and will be back.
Great Food.. Great Location.. Well worth a visit.. The menu is very imaginative. Great Flavors
Pleasant outdoor setting, noise level acceptable, friendly staff, suffficient food and drink options
Jack was the most amazing waiter ever! What a great evening. Thank you so much!
The restaurant was sweltering with no functional ac. The noise level was toxic. The food was fair. The waiter didn’t come by once to see how we were doing - I couldn’t get his attention for a pepper shaker. The pasta was lacking flavor. The shrimp was fair. Would not recommend to anyone over age 30 - it’s a scene. Will not return.
Great food. Have never been disappointed.
A bit loud inside on a Friday night, but a good vibe. Great food and a fun and comfortable place to go. Number 1 on my Greenport restaurant list.
What a fun, vibrant spot. Excellent food. I felt like I was on a trendy, energetic vacation and not in the usual sleepy town north fork joint.
