So disappointed. Our first dinner in Charleston and we were looking forward to trying oysters. Our waitress started the conversation letting us know their oysters were not the best. We proceeded to try their hush puppies but could barely bite into them they were so hard and/or old. She never came back for future orders so we ended up closing check to find a much better place for dinner.
One of my favorite places to eat when we come to Charleston.
Tuna tartare not as fresh as it should be
Scallops with shrimp risotto was very rich and very salty. Scallops carmelized only on one side.
Mahi Mahi came with a rice that was very oily and fish was overcooked
Server was very nice and attentive.
We had the Green tomato app which was good followed by the crab cake entree. Good overall . Service was average.
Great oysters and excellent service. Best in Charleston
We would dine at the restaurant again. However, we would specify larger oysters.
Our waitress was very good.
They say your experience with a restaurant can either be enhanced or destroyed by the wait staff. Our dinner at Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar could not have been more enjoyable! Originally, we had outdoor seating reservations, but with the evening temperature dropping into the 40's, neither my wife nor I, were really excited to go. I called the restaurant, and the front desk gladly switched our reservation to inside. Upon arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile and brought back to our table with no delay.
Our waiter, Michael, personified what an excellent waiter should be! He made himself available the entire time we were at the restaurant. He explained the menu in depth, how dishes were prepared, allergy concerns, portion size, and what were the most popular, or recommended dishes.
Selections included: Calamari (generous portion), a dozen Little Neck Clams (very fresh), Swordfish ( perfectly presented, and cooked "just right"), and Shrimp and Grits ( a true specialty of Amen Street). The food came in a well scheduled timely manner- never did we feel rushed, or wondering when our meal was going to arrive.
Highly recommend the restaurant! Ask for Michael!
Tasty dozen mixed premium oysters. Tuna tartare fresh but would have preferred wonton chips to tortilla chips. Loved the calamari! This was my husband’s second time for lunch here this week! Very good but busy.
Our first time here - will definitely be back whenever we are in Charleston. Oysters were fresh and the fried shrimp were the best I have ever had. Give Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar a try.
Casual ambience, good service, delicious food at moderate prices. Requested a sandwich that was on their menu in the past, but no longer listed. They made it for me special. It was a Fried Green Tomato BLT with Pimento Cheese. Incredibly delicious! I hope Amen Street will put it back on the menu.
Our service was great and the food just wonderful. Very fresh and the right sized portions.
Highly disappointed! Went to Amen Street with great expectations. Server had attitude, rolling her eyes after ordering drinks. The baked oysters were cold, covered in a hard congealed cheese, no sign of spinach, no flavor.
Local ousting the half shell, fortunately only ordered 6, were the smallest oysters I have ever encountered, and consequently lacked any flavor.
Spend you money at Pearlz, great oysters, great service, great vibe.
We enjoyed happy hour at the bar before our dinner reservation. Great deals!
One of our friends have been raving over Amen Street for years. We can add ourselves to that list, dinner was excellent!
Outstanding!! The scallops with the shrimp risotto was so delicious! The raw oysters were delicious. The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable. Our server was friendly, professional and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Raw bar was great, rest of the menu was just OK
Our server Michael sealed the deal! Fantastic shrimp and grits. Fun ambiance and lively crowd. Yummy oysters to boot! Thanks Amen and Michael for a wonderful evening!
Fantastic meals & service on our last evening in town / haven’t gotten out much in the last 20 months so this was a real treat!
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere. The food was good but not as good as I would have expected. I just didn’t walk away with the thought that it was someplace I want to come back to.
The scallops with shrimp risotto was outstanding. I would highly recommend it, as well as the beet salad. Our server was attentive and engaging in conversation. Would highly recommend.
All of the food was excellent and the cocktails were unique and perfect!
If you like raw bar this should be your go to places. Large choice of premium oysters and the house are very good .
Cooked to order burgers are always a good choice.
Good food and good service for lunch!
Wonderful drinks, appetizers, and main dishes. I expected more from the Pecan Pie. Wait staff was attentive, but I also felt like she constantly had somewhere else to be.
Disappointed with the hostess. She checked us in and then put her hands all over knives and forks at her stand with no regard to her hands being clean. I requested different silverware and she seemed surprised by my request. Michael our waiter was great. The scallops were excellent and the blackened Mahi was okay but a small portion.
Our server was wonderful. She was attentive and personable. The food was delicious all around.
Great menu. Excellent service. Salmon and scallop entrees were very good. Risotto was the best ever.
Great place for cocktails, oysters, a snack or a full meal. Attractive restaurant and bar, non fussy, well priced menu, attentive service and excellent bartenders. Definitely will return
Excellent seafood. We really enjoyed our dinner.
We had a delightful long lunch here on a beautiful fall day. The local (Charleston and Beaufort) oysters were really nice, served with no fuss. I was stunned by Amen Street's take on shrimp and grits, served in a gravy with tomatoes and Andouille sausage. Maybe my favorite S&G of all time. Megan took care of and was wonderfully helpful and informative even in the middle of a lunch rush.
House oysters were fab. Scallops cooked to perfection. She-crab soup crave-able. Service just ok.
Made a reservation and walked right in to our table. Server friendly and helpful. Food excellent. You should give it a try.
Service was great, food came out very well paced with our meals hot when they came out. We had the shrimp & grits and the scallops risotto, both were very good. Wold recommend their Bloody Mary too.
Ashley was an excellent waitress. We went for an early dinner due to something we had to do later. The food was absolutely fresh & delicious & that she crab soup....so tasty smooth & delicious...had 2 servings. We had the seafood tower & those mussels w/ the garlic sauce inside was to die for. Everything was delicious & just wish we could have had the dinner menu. But we will definitely be back again.
Food was amazing and the service was quick and friendly! A great pitstop for good seafood on any Charleston trip.
We were in Charleston from Dallas so I selected this restaurant from Trip Advisor. The fried green tomatoes were excellent as were my shrimp and grits. Our waitress was less attentive than she could have been, but overall, we really enjoyed dining there.
We had a wonderful meal at Amen. Our waiter, Tim, was excellent! He was entertaining, informative, and gave great menu and drink recommendations. Amen was recommended to us by friends and we will definitely be back.
She Crab soup is delicious!!!
Our server Mike was fabulous!
Shrimp and grits and swordfish special were 10 out of 10. Our server was very good and the cocktail s as well. Will go back here every time we are in town
