Shrimp & Grits
andouille sausage, smoked tasso ham, roasted tomato gravy over Geechie Boy local grits
Amen Street She-Crab Soup
Charleston's classic recipe finished with dry sherry
green goddess dressing, blackened lemon
The cream corn smelled and tasted horrible. It smelled and tasted like spoiled milk.
The fries were served cold, and the hush puppies were very hard and dry.
The tuna tacos were amazing, however the chips that were served with it was stale.
The shrimp and grits were mediocre.
Good food, good atmosphere. A little overpriced, but that is to be expected of downtown Charleston. Service was slow but the restaurant was quite busy. Overall would give it a 7.5/10
Kitchen lost our order, service slow but well worth the wait,
The shrimp and grits are the best I’ve ever had
The she-crab soup was way over spiced with Charleston's version of Old Bay.
The crab cakes were okay, but certainly not jumbo lump!
Better IPA's on draft would be nice.
Really good shrimp and grits...these get the highest marks of all that we ordered.
Time between soup and main course was 55 minutes.
The four of us had a great lunch at Amen Street snd were able to snag a last minute table when we couldn’t anywhere else. Unpretentious and accommodating, the service was great and the food delicious. the fried oysters over the caesar salad (with a side of green goddess dressing at my request) was great. Other lunches were fried green tomatoes, shrimp corn dog style, cream of crab soup, beet salad. All were fresh and delicious. A couple of frozen drink specials — screwdriver snd the frozen bellini were just what we needed on this hot day.
We are outside. Beautiful night. Danielle was our servicer. Oyster shooters, blackened mahi mahi, scallops were delicious.
The hostess was gracious; the waitress was attentive but not overbearing; the food was delicious; and the booth comfortable. The only thing I would change is the noise level - but I look forward to returning!
We enjoyed lunch. The she crab soup was wonderful- rich and creamy with a hint of spice. The "old salts" oysters were expensive but great! Service was good, not great.
It was pretty good. We had baked oysters, Caesar salad, and the swordfish. We really liked everything. Service was good. Our waitress was very attentive
Oyster shooters are so good. Seafood platter was also great. Love this place!
Unfortunately we had a server that was apparently not having a good day and was very terse in her demeanor. She was to the point of not listening to the customer but rather talking down to them. When the manager was addressed regarding this issue, he sided with the server and her bad attitude blaming the volume of customers. His consolation was to give someone a free beer. I found this improper attitude and lack of maturity in management skills very detrimental to the dining experience. The owner needs to reassess his staff and their skills to provide quality service.
The shrimp corn dogs are a must for an appetizer!!
Great service and delicious food. Always very fresh.
Always a good time here. My server, Mike, was very knowledgeable & helpful — about beer, about oysters, about Charleston. Due to a somewhat late lunch, I wasn’t as hungry as I wished I had been. So I went “light” with some raw pesters, peel & eat shrimp, and a cold brew. Looking forward to my next visit!
Best buttermilk salad ever with the bad boys
Was for my birthday. Amen has become our favorite restaurant in the last few years. Never disappoints
Wonderful restaurant…seafood (fresh oyster bar) and other options. Wait staff was attentive m. Food was some of the best I have had. See pics. Worth a stop for your favorite fresh seafood.
Terrible Dark and Stormy. Good fried green tomatoes. Nice Sauvignon blanc and Pinot Noir. Excellent filet, perfectly done, and sides. They comped the Dark and Stormy, which had very little rum, and watered down ginger beer.
Nice restaurant in the Old Town Charleston area. It was just that however, nice, nothing spectacular. The staff was efficient and friendly. The food was okay (swordfish was a bit bland and tuna tacos were okay but not overly flavorful or amazing tuna and hush puppies were dry). It was worth a try, but would recommend if you are eating here to perhaps limit your order to the raw bar, as that appeared to be what most diners were enjoying.
They were out of several seafood options, and some drink options. What we did get was good. Probably would not go back.
Loved it! Waitress was great and very fun. Food is outstanding.
Overall food was decent but less appetizing when you see cooks eating in the kitchen between plating meals, on their phones then touching your food bare handed and just felt like they do not take food safety seriously.
Service spoiled the experience.
Food and service was great bright and lively atmosphere. Would recommend
Awesome. She-crab soup was the best I’ve ever tasted. Will return.
Best oysters we had in Charleston during our trip. Nothing we had was less than amazing at Amen.
Watermelon- swordfish was amazing! Wish I had the recipe
Our server Michael was very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the meal, and his enthusiastic personality made it fun. Our only disappointment came when two items we ordered were unavailable. The substitute options were delicious, but it was a head-scratcher that items were not available for a busy Friday lunch crowd. Otherwise, everything was great and we plan to go back again.
A nice selection of oysters! The food was good and we had a nice evening. The service could have been a bit faster but we fortunately weren’t starving when we arrived.
As always, Amen Street delivered at all levels! Great food and service.
Anniversary - everything was perfect
Food was amazing!!! Tuna tacos pleasant surprise. Oysters all great.
Oh my gosh! Where do I begin? This restaurant is so consistent with their service, beverages and their dishes. Their appetizers, and entrées are well seasoned and very balanced.. We have visited several times already when we come to town for a little R&R. Everything is delicious! Trust me. We have eaten around town. Do not waste your time at the Darling. There is no comparison.
Very good, a little more on the casual side than I expected
Awesome food and awesome service. Would eat there again. Heck eating there again tomorrow.
It was just OK. Been here before and nothing fantastic. I think there are many more good choices in Charleston
For years Amen Street has had the best She Crab soup I’ve ever had. I was so looking forward to that only to be completely disappointed. It was so full of black pepper that it was almost too spicy to eat. The pepper totally overpowered the delicate flavor of the soup. I hope they go back to the previous recipe. Otherwise the oysters and the peel and eat shrimp were good.
Table was ready upon arrival. Great oysters and entrées. Very busy atmosphere, we sat outside and enjoyed people watching.
