Busy/Popular Restaurant. Do not miss the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Shrimp Corn Dog! The Antarctic Salmon was also excellent. The raw bar was very busy, we only tried the Ahi Tuna and it was very good. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Oysters very good, she crab soup very good, crab cake very good. Caesar salad lackluster, dressing bland.
Crab cake was very small and seafood sampler was very small.
Authentically Southern seafoods, tasted good (nothing extraordinary) and adeqaute prices. However, I didn’t quite enjoy the ambiance; I went to the restaurant for a very early dinner, so I might not have gotten the full experience. I was eating by myself and they placed me off the beaten path at the very end of the restaurant…. not a good start. My server was kind, but towards the end it seemed that she forgot I was there.
Excellent fried oysters for a none oyster eater. I liked that they had a kids’ menu. I’d recommend the key lime pie! Yum. A little too noisy as lots of bridal parties.
It was wonderful!!!
Our server was outstanding. She was very nice and did a great job! The calamari is my favorite. I got the beet salad which was very fresh but I wasn’t a fan. Just was not for me. Hubby got the blackened mahi and loved it. We visit every time we are in Charleston. Love the atmosphere here as well.
First timers, great experience definitely would come again and suggest to friends.
Great food! The only thing I'd want others to be aware of is the portions of some of the dishes (we had mahi and baked oysters) are a bit smaller than average for the prices. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars rather than 5; otherwise, we were all 4 happy with our experience!
Awesome place. Will definitely come back!
Lunch ! Our server was phenomenal!
Need reservations which we had. Delicious dinner. Recommend the Scallop dish and shrimp and grits.
Excellent food and service. Will definitely go back!
The Amen burger was delicious and the oysters were out of this world. Good local beer selection and my husband loved his shrimp and grits.
Service was very good and the oysters were excellent but that’s where it fell short. Overall we found it to be extremely expensive for suboptimal food. Mahi sand which was over cooked, shrimp and grits were ‘chunky’ grits and mussel shells served cracked. The burger was decent. Disappointing lunch.
Service was the worst we had during our trip. It just seemed like she was in a bad mood. The food was good, but overall spoiled our experience. Probably would not go back. There is so many excellent restaurants with exceptional service to pick from.
All southern staples knocked out at 1 restaurant. Green fried tomatoes, she crab soup, and shrimp & grits. Oh my gosh !! Did not disappoint. Michael , our server was impeccable. Thinking about going back again tonight and repeating the same meal
Fantastic dinner! Scallops with a creamy shrimp risotto was amazing; will definitely go back next time we’re in town.
Great Oysters and she crab soup!!
The Antarctic salmon was one of the best dishes my husband and I have ever had. The house oysters were briny and delicious.
Service was perfect.
Great service! Great food!
Raw oysters were wonderful. The rest was not made in house, and a bit tired. The fried green tomatoes were obviously purchased frozen. The pickled okra was from a jar that you can buy at Walmart. The shrimp sandwich was fine, but again seemed like precooked chopped and frozen shrimp. For a good-centric city, with so many great choices, don’t waste your meal here.
The food was great. The service was even better.
Menu has definitely changed. We miss the fresh fish selection with various options. Now it's more of a quick seafood sandwich and salad place with raw oysters. Hush puppies and shrimp corn dogs stayed on the menu which is good. Recommended if you're looking for shrimp roll.
I would label my experience at Amen as "mediocre. Food was mediocre. Service was mediocre. There are lots of other places in Charleston that have better food & service.
Delicious seafood. Shrimp and Grits was fantastic. Service was right on
A real flavor of Charleston
Definitely one of the tops spots for lunch. Excellent oysters, mussels, crab cakes and the she crab soup is very good, along with good salads and sandwiches. Doesn't seem touristy or overly "in", just a good place to eat. Service was good so we were in and out quickly without being rushed.
Excellent experience, we’d return for more! Shrimp and grits was flavorful and delicious, our server Michael was attentive and knew the menu- very friendly and helpful, key lime pie was the best we’ve had so far in Charleston. Make reservations, it’s a busy place for good reason.
A friend and I had lunch here; I had the fried shrimp and they were delicious and fried just as they should be - light batter - perfect timing! My friend had the beet salad and the crab soup - she loved the soup so much she ordered another! (great flavor on the she crab soup but be advised it is more of a bisque -- not a thick soup). Loved this place and our waiter was great.
Food was good although they were out of a lot of items which seemed very odd for lunch. Our waitress was very good and helpful although the place kind of had an odd vibe hostess didn’t really say anything to us and it took awhile before one of the waiters could find her so we could be seated. Again, very odd.
Best food in Charleston!!
Service was wonderful
Love love love love
Great service, delicious food, overall wonderful experience
A Charleston must. Food excellent. Ambiance is great. Casual Chicago like exposed brick interior.
Great seafood! Highly recommend!
Food was delicious, service was good, and ambiance is unique and happy!
Service was very slow. Food was average. There are Better places to eat in Charleston
Good food at a reasonable price. Amen has a nice casual atmosphere. Service was good.
The food and the ambiance were outstanding at Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar. I didn’t think anyone could do Shrimp and Grits as well as SNOB across the street - Amen does! My husband had the fried fish platter and said it was excellent. Make sure you get a dish with hush puppies or order as an appetizer - they are delicious.
We love this place and will definitely be back when visiting Charleston. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, unfortunately we didn’t get her name. A great experience from beginning to end.
The food was delicious!! The wait time for the food however was pretty long. I would still go back but probably for lunch and not a date night dinner .
