Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar
Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor.
The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish.
We are open for lunch and dinner. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are accepted as well.
we were seated in a booth in bar. It was too noisy with the drinking groups. I would insist on a table in the back or would not eat there again even thought the food is very good
The food was very good and the service was even better.
Birthday Celebration Weekend
Loved the calamari! She crab soup was very good ( a bit of a kick), beet and arugula salad very good but ask for the dressing on the side if you don’t like too much. Meghan was a lovely and attentive server.
We had the She-crab soup, one of the best dishes I’ve ever had! The fish (me halibut, wife mahi) was great. Fried green tomatoes were firm and flavorful, everything served was hot and brought by great servers. It was such a great experience we canceled our reservation to the #1 rated restaurant the following evening and went back
This place was recommended to us by our son and daughter-in-law who dined there last summer, and it did not disappoint. My seared scallops were amazing, and our friends shared muscles as an appetizer, which they couldn’t stop raving about. Will definitely go back.
The she crab soup was outstanding, I’ve never had shrimp and grits before but was really tasty
Noise level a bit high, but comes with a great overall evening
Super place! We were visiting Charleston & there for late lunch. Server Michael v friendly & knowledgeable. Had some of their raw oysters which were amazingly fresh. Then tried grouper with lowcountry sides. Yummy! Friend had fried shrimp & scrumptious creamed corn! Would go again in a heartbeat!
Four of us started with 2 dozen house oysters that were fresh and very good. I had the bouillabaisse with a rich aioli and fresh seafood and the others had swordfish. It was all good. The noise level rose as the evening went on to a very high level.
Good oyster selection, warm atmosphere. Had a good salad at lunch.
Great fried oysters on the seasonal salad. Green tomato appetizer also very tasty. Did not like the she crab soup at all and returned it
Great food!!! The service was good once the waiter was made aware I was in his section.
Not as good as the last time we visited Amen. Food was not as seasoned as before, hostess was busy eating oysters at the check in stand and it overall lacked the high level of service and quality we received several months ago.
We were sat at a small table in the back for two. It was not ideal since there were nats flying around. I ordered the Holy Basil and it was outstanding, when I ordered the second the waitress said they were out of basil - disappointing. How does a restaurant run out of basil on a Saturday night? We then ordered the baked oysters and were told their equipment was down, we then ordered the fried oysters and they were very good. But needless to say we were not thrilled at this point. Our entrees, seared scallops and shrimp and grits were delicious. We were visiting from Michigan and overall the food was delicious however with so many choices in such a wonderful city, this was a bit disappointing overall.
Great service, excellent food and cool atmosphere
Very nice meal, very good waitress, great evening
As usual it was a wonderful lunch, we always stop when we come into town.
Excellent food. Great oysters. Lovely space.
Frances is an excellent server. Friendly, engaging and efficient.
The oven was broken so we were not able to get the baked oysters as we first wanted. We got seated in the very back corner of the restaurant with another couple within two feet from us, and it felt a little claustrophobic. The food was good. Service was good. Not our favorite Charleston experience, though.
Oysters so fresh and the fish was prepared perfect.
Design of the resturant is very pleasing
Waitress was knowledgeable and not over powering
However hostess was very cold
Great anniversary experience
Ate here for lunch. Very good food and cool atmosphere.
Excelllent food and service! Selection, quality/freshness of the raw oysters was exceptional. Everyone at the table had a different meal and all were excellent
Great fresh oysters and seafood. Nice atmosphere and good service. Will be back!
We had a fabulous experience at Amen! We were visiting Charleston and a bunch of people told us to go to Amen. It did not disappoint! Oysters, She Crab Soup, Shrimp & Grits - everything was amazing!!!!
Michael very helpful and food delicious!!
Nice restaurant in great location. Good vibe and delicious food. Only compliant was that food came out so quickly that we felt rushed.
Food was great! However was quite surprised when I received the check! Before ordering, I asked the server if they could prepare a child-size blackened fish instead of FRIED fish for my 5 year old who asked for blackened mahi-mahi. The server left & came back as stated that they didn’t actually have mahi-mahi (although it was listed under that day’s fish options) but they could prepare blackened grouper for him. He did indeed get a CHILD-size portion of fish (he devoured every bite & asked for more)....for the price of an adult entree! So my 5 year old’s dinner was $29.50 while my meal was only $23.50!! Trying to support healthier non-fried choices certainly comes with a price at this establishment! I’ve requested this at multiple restaurants on par with this one & at most had a $2 upcharge to the kids price.
Had the Salmon Arugula Salad at Amen this weekend. It was so good that I'm still thinking about it. Will definitly go back the next time we are in Charleston.
It was a good restaurant but the food was really overpriced for the atmosphere. I was not impressed with the drinks as I had heard they had a great drink menu.
Can't visit Charleston without eating at Amen Street! Amazing food and great service. We've eaten here several times and have loved everything we've tried.
Good food and friendly service. Gets a bit loud at times. Quite a draft as the back door is closing every time someone uses it. The tables in the back need to be leveled, but on the whole an enjoyable experience
Calamari steaks fabulous and our waitress was great!!! Wonderful valentines night!! Would definitely go back.
Our food and service was wonderful! One of our favorite places! Do not remember our servers name but he was wonderful!!!
Valentines Day Lunch
5 star food and service
This restaurant is very attractive. The food was good, but not great. For the price, the food should be great.
Noisy bar area. Crab soup was excellent and authentic. Big salad.
Delicious food, great service! A little more space between tables, so we didn't feel like we were sitting on top of another table.
