As always, great meal and excellent service. I always remember to make reservations ahead of time. Rarely do they take walk ins. Only disappointment, on the reservation I mentioned it was my birthday. Other guests were offered a free birthday dessert and in deed, the owner, Andy, played Happy Birthday to one of the guest right next to me but I wasn't even wished a Happy Birthday! So sad! However, the steamed clams, outstanding!
Literally the best place I have ever been. The service was impeccable (Drew), the food was amazing, and the owner and chef, Andy, was incredible. Aside from planning a great menu with local items such as fish and mushrooms (which he actually brought to our table to show us the variety of mushrooms), he bussed tables, played the saxophone for birthdays, called a guest who had left their credit card, visited all tables, etc. He clearly cares a lot about his restaurant and the guests that visit. I am so mad we haven't been in the two years we have lived here now! Definitely definitely recommend.
Excellent food. Perfect place of dinner before the wonderful Hippodrome productions.
As usual all was great!
The best Italian place I have even eaten. Always come back.
As always the food was fantastic and the service excellent. Best Italian food in Gainesville.
Fabulous food. Tasty and beautiful presentation. It was my husband's birthday and Chef Andy came from the kitchen asnd played Happy birthday on the sax. How special!
It was my birthday. The restaurant was not real full. The service was excellent. The food was outstanding. The chef played the saxophone after dinner to the tune of happy birthday. He visited our table often. I can’t believe this is the first time we have eaten there. We will be back many times in the future.
Very nice dinner, great ambiance and service. Absolutely would return
I always enjoy going to this restaurant. The service is excellent and I always feel welcomed even though I usually come here alone. There are restaurants in Gainesville that basically don't like sitting one person especially on a Saturday night. This is not the case here. Andy, the owner, comes into the restaurant periodically and talks to every guest. Where else in Gainesville does this happen? The cedar key clams are excellent here - fresh and well prepared.
Don't judge Amelia's from the outside! It may look a little messy on the patio but don't hesitate to come inside. The restaurant is quiet and the atmosphere is friendly. Would suggest making reservations because the restaurant is always busy. The food is delicious and the service is excellent.
Amelia's is the perfect place for a romantic dinner, a celebration or a more casual experience for a regular. The ambiance is wonderful - beautiful and elegant. Our waitress made us feel like we were the only ones she was serving. The food was delicious from the bread to the cake we took home but didn't eat until the next day since due to the generous portions. The owner/chef visited every table to make sure was alright and we go treated to hearing him play Happy Birthday on the saxophone! We know that any time we go to Amelia's, we won't be disappointed!
Very nice place for a date night. Would recommend. Reservations wouldn't really be needed on weeknights but just to be safe everyone should. A great restaurant all around ambiance good, food was great, service was great. Definitely will go back.
Food good, not exceptional. Service excellent. Location good but parking is problem. DO NOT park behind restaurant which is convenient, because they'll tow your car even if you pay the $5 according to sign. Gainesville Police Dept. will not back you up nor will the City. Receipt for parking not available hence a complete scam. Not a great experience!
Amazing food and great service!
Valentines Dinner. We were with a loud speaking couple that used foul language! The staff was very professional under the circumstances. We will not take them back again. Hopefully, our table did not offend other diners! The food was excellent as alway!
Was to late for a valentine reservation instead came in the night before. Dinner was excellent and have yet to be disappointed.
Once again, a perfect meal from start to finish. This is our "go to" place for birthdays and anniversaries and it never disappoints. Owner Chef Andy stops by the table each time, our servers have always been great, and it's a pleasure every time we dine at Amelia's. The menu has a lot of variety, and the chicken francese is so great we've both ordered it the last 2 visits. Haven't found anything that wasn't terrific, though.
Amelias has the best food in town. Chef Andy uses only the best ingredients and makes every dish fresh when you order! The Tortellini Alfredo is “Heaven on a Fork!” I cannot recommend this establishment enough.
Amelia's is reliably wonderful!
Andy is by far the best italian Chef in Gainesville. His food is always outstanding and he brings new specials often. Our favorite spot to eat in Gainesville.
We always have a great meal and have excellent service. All staff members are friendly and very attentive to customers. The food is some of the best in Gainesville.
The food is fantastic. The eggplant parm is delicious
Excellent Italian cuisine with ambiance included. Wait staff very professional and accommodating. As an added plus, we were celebrating our friend’s Birthday, and she was given a Happy Birthday saxophone serenade by the very talented chef/owner. What a wonderful surprise that was, and very much appreciated.
The food was classic Italian food. Excellent quality and good size portions. Our waitress Amanda was friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant was busy and we had a party of five, our waters were always being filled.
Highly recommend Amelia's.
Excellent food. Service was poor, but 20% tip was added to our bill automatically. Maybe the automatic tip was why the service was poor. Nonetheless, the food was excellent, and we had a great time. And we had only a 2-minute walk to the Hippodrome for two hours of laughter.
Good service, food quality and taste
The good was excellent and the service was great. Thank you.
Don’t have the fried calamari. They are huge to much breading and a little tasteless. Everything else was amazing. Great service and the grouper was to die for.
Weekend with friends
The food was delicious and our server was awesome!!
Always fun to go here for celebrations. This time it was for a late celebration of our 50th wedding and we were treated to complimentary prosecco. Wait staff is always attentive, the two types of fresh bread and salad with house dressing are matched by the delicious entrees. I had calamari riviera and my wide had chicken piccata; both delicious. Hers came with a complimentary side of pasta with marinara. Portions were huge so we took home the extras. House wine Folonari Bardolina was OK.
Very good service and lovely food. Ambiance was ok, nothing special, but pleasant. We had an excellent evening and a delicious free dessert for one of our trios birthday.
Birthday. Owner played happy birthday on the saxophone
Attended Amelia's for my wife's birthday this past weekend. Amelia's is by far our favorite Italian restaurant in Gainesville. The service was great (thanks Casey) and the food was amazing, as always. Then Chef Andy, the chef/owner of Amelia's, came out with his saxophone and played Happy Birthday for my wife. It was a great surprise! I would definitely recommended anybody craving some authentic Italian food to go to Amelia's. 12 out of 10 stars.
We've been going here for years and the place seems to be steadily declining. We do not plan to return.
The food was great and so were the ambience
The portions and good and it’s very authentic Italian cooking.
Looking forward to our next trip !
Our server, Drew, did an excellent job of detailing menu items. Per his suggestion, I had the grouper special for the evening and it was outstanding. My husband had the veal and said it was the best he ever had. They were very busy but service was fast and efficient. Will definitely visit again when we are in the area.
