The staff and chef were very pleasant and didn’t rush us. This is truly dining. It was quiet and we had a beautiful meal, excellent and tasty Italian. All 7 of us agreed. There should be more dining establishments like this, it was quite enjoyable. And the staff was very flexible when we changed the reservation more than once!
This was a "perfect" experience for me. I dined outside at 7 PM so the weather was comfortable and dusk was just beginning. The patio faces an open "piazza" so interesting to watch people. The highlight was the food - I had the steamed Cedar Key clams, the Grouper Napoli and the Almond Custard (the name may not be exciting, the dish is one of the best desserts I've had). It was all absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. My tip - they are doing electronic ordering only right now, so go to their website before you leave home so you can peruse the offerings on your laptop rather than trying to see them on your phone onsite. Wish I remembered the waiter's name to give a shout out, but he has been there 5 years and was knowledgeable about the menu, always timely, courteous and rounded out the evening. It was my first visit, but will not be my last.
Overall an enjoyable experience for UF Graduation. Our server Lulu was extremely pleasant but continued to rush us at all points. I stated numerous times that we would like slow service but she was on us continuously. The food was good, calamari was terrible, bread and bruschetta were excellent. Drinks had generous pours. We ordered dessert just to buy us more time to be together - the tartufo was very good!!! Grouper was outstanding, veal palm was good, and the mushroom pasta special was awesome!
We ate outside on the patio despite the rain and it was lovely! Fabulous bread, good Caesar salad, and the best grouper I’ve had in my life, and after 58 years in Florida I’ve had a lot of great grouper. I chose the mugnaia (pronounced munya). Chocolate mousse cake split three ways was the perfect finish.
Very good food and service. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Amazing food with wonderful staff and great ambiance. Not being from Gainesville, we had a bit of a problem finding the place. I called them and told them we were having trouble locating them and they held our reservation for us and greeted us by name when we walked in.
We got the veal parmesan, surf and turf, and lobster ravioli and all three were absolutely delicious. The food was hot and the portions are perfect for eating all at once without feeling stuffed. They serve hot bread and salads before the entree and they were delicious. If you're a fan of fresh bread, this is the place to go!
We ordered one dessert for the three of us, the mint chocolate chip something or other. Oh my!!!!
We will definitely return.
The bolognese was excellent as was the
Crostini appetizer. The chicken parm was good but overcooked
Fantastic food, great service, great atmosphere, definitely try it out
My husband and I have eaten at Amelia's many times. This time we went for my husband's birthday, which, unfortunately, fell on a Saturday. So, the restaurant was very busy, and the service was slow. We sat outside due to the pandemic, and the noise level was higher that it would have been inside. However, the food was excellent as usual.
Food and Service was great. I recommended
There were long delays between each course during which there was no sign of our server despite our being one of two occupied tables so we couldn't get refills of water or wine. The lobster ravioli was delicious but unfortunately had very little sauce.
Excellent Italian restaurant. Food was amazing and prices were reasonable. May be a little hard to get in without a reservation though.
This is my favorite restaurant in all Gainesville. The food is consistent great, the service is always excellent and Chef Andy makes it so special! Especially when he plays Happy Birthday to his Birthday guests. I ordered the food to be delivered during COVID but it is just not the same. The steamed clams were so good and I so wanted to just have the sauce it comes it as a bowl of soup. Excellent! Very relaxed meal, can't say enough good things about this place!
Dinner with our grandson. Enough food to supply him with a delicious “doggie bag”! We would highly recommend it.
Great food and service!
Simply stated, the best Italian food around. Never tasted better chicken parmigiana. Very attentive service. A must visit in Gainesville, Florida
We enjoyed our celebration at Amelia's Restaurant!
We have always loved Amelia’sand it is so great to now be able to visit more often. In our opinion, it is the best European-style or northern Italian restaurant in town. The chef-owner takes pride in providing fresh, innovative entrees and appetizers. The staff is knowledgeable and interested in answering questions. In short, our favorite night out restaurant in town
The first time back since the pandemic began, our meal and service were excellent,
just as in the past. The best Italian cuisine in Gainesville. We are just so happy that Chef Andy kept things afloat this past year. If it is important to you that a restaurant get every aspect of the dinner right, from the rolls to the dessert, then this is the place.
very good appetizers, a little uncomfortable seating/positioning of tables. ambiance a bit off, everything else great
Wonderful to celebrate my husband’s birthday here. All around exceptional, as has been for 30+ years.
We don’t live near Gainesville, but we were in the area .
We had never been to Amelia s but decided to try it .
My husband and I had two of their chicken dishes . I am gluten intolerant, so asked if they could prepare the chicken without wheat which they did . The dishes come with a small salad , bread and 3 pieces of chicken and pasta . I substituted my pasta for vegetables. They had four different vegetables they offered in place of pasta .
Our server was very pleasant , service and food were good .
Absolutely fabulous - every dish we had was outstanding. Drew and the chef/owner were so hospitable and welcoming. We'll be back!
Chose Amelia's for my S/O's birthday dinner for just the two of us. Service was great given the amount of guests dining that night. Food was amazing and definitely worth the trip!
Good Italian cuisine with a few decadent steak options. Our server was overly helpful and we had to reassure her that we were patient, and wanted a relaxing evening out. Would definitely go again!
Excellent food and service. My only complaint was that whenever customers came into the restaurant, there was no room in the restaurant so the door was held open with the chilly air keeping us cold since we were sitting by the door. I should have asked to be moved but did not.
The food was excellent. We had the Eggplant Parmesan and Veal Rollatini. Our server was wonderful and attentive. We will definitely return.
Excellent as always from appetizer to dessert. The service was excellent too. Our go-to spot when visiting Gainesville.
We've been eating here for years and have always enjoyed it. We understand why their menu is now on line accessible with a phone picture of their little widget but we truly prefer a printed menu. It doesn't seem too much of a strain to wipe down the menus after each use.
Excellent food & service
Great service, great vibe. Awesome waiter. Would recommend.
Thank you Drew. We are appreciative to have Amelias
Probably the best meal we've had in Gainesville and we've been to most fine restaurants in town. The owner/chef Andy was a very nice guy, and his Italian dishes were incredible. Our party of 7 all had different meals and every person loved their entrees. Nice selection of wines as well. Prices very reasonable and tremendous value for what you get. And to top it off, we celebrated a birthday and it was the best "Happy Birthday" presentation ever (won't spoil the surprise of what they do). Enjoy.
The chicken caprese was the absolute best chicken I've ever tasted.. everything was great. It's small but very intimate. Perfect for one on one dining.
Whenever I visit my daughter in Gainesville, I always make reservations at Amelia’s. The food, service, and hospitality are superb. The chef and owner makes it a point to visit each table to greet patrons and ask about their dining experience. This restaurant is a gem.
It was my first time there and was excellent!
The food and service were exceptional! We truly appreciated the physically distanced tables.
Celebrated our anniversary here, as we do every year (birthdays too). Service and food is always exceptional, and this experience was as great as expected. We tried a couple new (to us) menu items and both were fabulous. Husband had chicken parmagiana for the first time in his life and loved it - I tried it and have never had it tasting so good before. I stuck with my tried and true chicken francese - love it so much I'm not willing to order anything but that!
The food was delicious. Great service. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
We enjoyed it so much last week that we came back again with more family members! Had the Salmon which was delicious & an assortment of appetizers which were all wonderful. We had the chocolate cake for dessert (again) & also the Tiramisu & both were outstanding. We are looking forward to returning again in a few weeks.
Food delicious! Service great!
