    The menu is ridiculously overpriced. We have been coming to Amaya for years, mostly for lunch. But it never seemed so pricey. Our kids usually eat adult entrees, but because of the prices, they ordered off the kids menu. We ordered a bottle of wine that was twice the price that we pay at another local restaurant. We just felt gouged. No wonder the restaurant was just about empty on a holiday evening.

    Just wasn’t that impressed. Place is dreary in the evening-all the dark wood, no table cloths, etc. Food was nothing special and the waiter seemed uninspired by his job!! Prices like everywhere these days were not justified by the experience!! I recognize this is the hotel’s B-L and D place but they could make the effort to make dinner a bit more pleasant.

    Amaya is a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful resort in Del Mar. The ambiance and food at the restaurant is worth the normal price tag in my opinion, but maybe not to go out of your way for. That said, we went for Valentine's Day where they replaced the normal menu with a coursed preset dinner for $225. This wasn't the best experience and I think that, because they were busy, the service fell off a little bit. I understand that it is appropriate to pace the courses but were there for about 3 hours and twiddling our thumbs for most of that time. The food was good but not mind blowing, which you should expect for the steeper price. Overall, I wouldn't recommend Amaya unless you want to stay at the resort (which is very nice) and check it out while you're there. I can say that the other restaurant at the resort (Addison), which is a lot harder to get reservations to, is very much worth the effort if you're looking for a top-class dining experience.

    We love the Fairmont and have both stayed here and dined at Amaya. It's just a 3 hour dinner, with very little (and only decent) food for nearly $800 just didn't feel good to me. I've eaten at Amaya before and it was fine. I would just never do any special pre-fixed meals on holidays there again because I just didn't feel the value was there. And I don't mind spending $500 for two if the food, ambience, service, and customer experience is delivered. There are special times for these occasions. But last night, I just didn't experience the value and I believe they can do a lot better. It was a $350 experience at best, not an $800 one.

    Very good food. Service was amiable but not always attentive. Entrees and sides were terrific. Spiny lobster soup was unremarkable. Everything seems a bit overpriced, but that may have more to do with the overall property than any choice of the restaurant itself.

    For a $295 prix fixe New Year's Eve dinner/dance it was over promised/under delivered. Although my Open Table reservation clearly stated a request for a booth away from kitchen entrance, they tried to seat us OUTSIDE on a cold rainy evening. Supposed caviar appetizer had at best a half teaspoon of caviar, and my medium Wagyu was much closer to well done, not a hint of pink. Portions were very small and no offering of wine pairing. The live music was pleasant but mainly jazz which is a bit challenging for dancing. Restaurant was basically empty well before midnight. Very disappointing experience!

    NYE dinner so the place was full and a little chaotic. Food was very good but service suffered a little. Cocktails were mediocre but the wine list is well curated.

    New Year’s Eve reservations. They did not tell us it was a pre-fix menu when reservation was made. Highly overpriced!! Main course had to be sent back to kitchen three times. Was like a car dealership dealing with waiter and then manager and then general manager. Very unprofessional. We fine dine often and this did by no means meet the fine dining standard for the ridiculous price. We should have left the moment the overpriced menu was presented.

    Food choices mediocre I had the Grain Salad with a slice of avocado and a chunk of alfalfa sprouts underneath the greens Service nonexistent I received one glass of water and the waiter did not come back to the table for 30 minutes at which time he put the bill on the table

    Great setting, service, food was good but just way overpriced. Unfortunately this felt like just plain gauging. I can’t believe how expensive and over priced everything was. I will say the food was well prepared and well seasoned. The presentation was on point. The service was very good.

    We sat at a large table perfect for our group of 9 and located near a cozy fire in a fireplace which was perfect for the cloudy/dreary day of our lunch. We were celebrating a 92nd b'day and the waiter brought our friend a special dessert along with a lighted candle. That made her day...as well as for all of us celebrating our friend. Restaurant staff were very accommodating and very attentive to our needs. Glad the Amaya Room has re-opened to non-hotel guests post pandemic protocol.

    What can I say but EXCEPTIONAL! The food and drinks were delicious and amazing. The Christmas decorations were incomparable and dazzling. Best of all was the service. Nadia our server was simply OUTSTANDING. She has been my server before, and she always goes above and beyond. A true asset for the Grand Del Mar Amaya restaurant. Myself and my guests truly felt like VIPS. Just what you would expect from the highest tier hotel and restaurant in San Diego. We will definitely be back.

    We were shocked that Christmas Day was a fixed price dinner at $225 per person, $42 for one glass of Prosecco and one glass of Champagne, 20% automatic tip, & tip for Valet parking. The dinner was certainly NOT worthy of the price. We stayed because we had a $500 gift card. But the extras cost us another$160.00. The setting is lovely, but the location of the Amaya restaurant within the hotel is torturous for people with a cane or walker--buried in the middle somewhere and a floor down. I don't plan on returning there.

    Christmas Eve dinner very expensive, as expected, but sat us outside which was extremely cold. Staff was not overly responsive to us asking for more heaters at our table. Food was tasty, but small portions. Also, service was very quick, so we felt a little rushed. I was ok with being charged so much for a special dinner, but the staff needed to go out of their way to make it special. And for the price, the food should have been plentiful. No bread for table. Hotel was decorated beautifully, though, which is why I picked that restaurant.

    This was very disappointing. We showed up for a reservation, and they told us they needed to bus our table. When we got to the table, it appeared as though they bussed everything that was on the table into the booth seats. There were several tables were diners had left, and they had not been bussed yet. In general, the restaurant just felt unclean. The food was below average for the price, as well as the service. I would not recommend Amaya — there are far better places in the area.

    Really disappointed in the Fairmont policy in charging for parking. Historically they did not charge - especially if dining there. If they changed their policy, it should be stated up front and maybe with a sign. I brought this to their attention and wanted to speak to a manager. They could not locate the manager and promised to call back. Overall, very disappointed in the nickel and dime approach - and the lack of follow-up even when promised. A meal at Amaya is premium priced, so why nickel and dime your customers.

    We have been here often, but the last time there was an issue with poor quality, so we haven't gone for months. We went with some out of town guests for brunch, and they nailed it. The service was fast, friendly and well done, and each member of the family really enjoyed the quality of their meal. Glad to see it was up to standards for a nice experience.

    We booked the reservation weeks in advance for a friend’s birthday. From the time we placed our order until arrived it was well over an hour and a half. They said it was because there were other big parties. Isn’t the point of a reservation to stagger things so that your guests don’t wait 90 minutes to get their food? A nice restaurant, but too expensive to wait that long for food. We will not be returning.

    Wonderful ambiance & very gracious service, the problem is that the brunch menu has become too expensive (2 hamburgers, 1 glass of wine, 1 glass of cocktail & 2 desserts totaled to $170 with tax and tip). Amaya does not provide more food choices on the menu. It would be nice to pay a set price for an actual buffet. We have been customers of the restaurant for over 10 years & we live locally, so we have seen the changes in limited menu & prices over the course of the years. In conclusion, more choices have to be offered on the brunch menu, instead of limited options, while charging very high prices (valet was not mandatory in the past, now there is no potion to do self parking, and the $7-$10 to pay valet plus tip has made the experience less enjoyable because it all adds to the bill). This makes it hard to remain loyal to this stunning resort, & it makes it hard to recommend this place to friends & family. Please consider options to provide discounts for local customers. Thank you.

    All the staff were very nice and the service was good. My friends ordered the Croque Madame and the sandwiches were sort of bland and the presentation wasn’t what we expected, I had the lox and bagel and the bagel wasn’t properly toasted but the lox was good. Overall the food was good but not exceptional for the price.

    Extremely disappointed in the food. Several of us had cobb salads, which mainly consisted of lettuce and a piece of very dry chicken and not a lot else. For $28 you would expect more avocados, then a couple of tidbits. Others had margherita pizza $27, which was just an overly cheesy pizza and nothing else. Not happy at all with most of our meals and for the prices we all paid this was particularly awful. Also, still on Opentable it states the following "Parking details - We are pleased to provide diners with complimentary valet parking." Myself, and all of my guests were got off guard, when the valet was actually $7.50 per car." I brought this to the attention of the staff and they had nothing to say, but that the charge was $7.50, For a hotel such as this, this is exceedingly unacceptable. I will right another review on my yelp account, as diners should be aware of all of this. Not at all happy with our experience.
