The food quality/taste and service were great. The portion sizes of the food were small compared to the high prices charged. Good experience overall...however, the overall value provided was not commensurate to the prices paid (in my opinion).

I had the tasting menu and it was hard to decide what to eat because everything sounded delicious. Started with ahi spring rolls which were super. Tasty fish in crispy wrapper. Followed by the short rib and goat cheese manicotti - broke da mot! The other option which I debated over was the firecracker opah - luckily for me my dining partner ordered that so I got to taste it. I would have been happy with either! Coffee and chocolate taster platter finished the evening. Yum! Oh wait! Forgot to mention the interesting Dark Vesper cocktail I sipped with my meal. Not for the faint of heart! Loved it all.

I went looking forward to lamb and a nice pinot noir only to learn Alan Wong's no longer serves lamb. I shifted to Onaga which was OK but did not serve as an adequate replacement. Alan Wong's lamb was excellent in the past but I will be looking for replacement restaurant. I recommend AW's for those who like seafood since that seems to be the focus now.

Alan Wong’s never disappoints. They altered the tasting menu to fit my pescatarian diet, and with 5 courses we were more than satisfied. The service is very attentive without being disruptive. Excellent cocktails and wine selection. Incredible choice for anniversaries, birthdays or any special occasion. Creative food made with detail and care, using many local ingredients.

Outstanding food and impeccable service. It was our anniversary and they presented us with a specially signed menu with our name and occasion printed on it, along w a complimentary dessert. A memory we will cherish. Will be back next time we are in Hawaii.

Alan Wong's usually doesn't disappoint. However, my latest experience was somewhat disappointing. It seemed like the whole restaurant was "off" the evening we were there. The food delivery between courses was extremely slow and there was little to no communication from our wait staff to provide an update, etc. In fact, the wait staff didn't seem to communicate with one another on our wine service, etc. Overall, the food was very good as usual, just expected more from the front of the house.

Absolutely fabulous. Loved the tasting menu and matching wines. Sommelier very helpful and knowledgeable in assisting with my red wine allergy and matching wines to suit. In my book this is the finest cuisine. Our second time in two years and love it.

Food good, problem for us was the prixe fix menu had to be ordered by everyone on the table and only the birthday girl wanted to have the menu and we had some light eaters who didn't want the entire meal or didn't want what was on the prixe fix menu. The food was good and desserts were excellent and had wide variety.

Wedding anniversary dinner was wonderful. Great food and service. I noticed a woman who was working there, is the same lady that was there that night when my husband had proposed 10 years ago. I am not sure if she was the hostess or manager but she was busy so we were not able to say hi to her. Thank you for helping us celebrate and adding on another wonderful memory 10 years later!!

Last time I been here was over 10 years ago,...had a fish dish that was the best I ever ate, but this latest visit, seemed different,...not as good as over 10 years ago,...waiter was friendly, great service, but we had to wait for the food for quite some time,...haven't waited that long for entrees to come in a very long time at a restaurant

Good for special occasions, not for every day, every month or quarter. Had a reservation at 5:30 pm on a Friday, my date and I were seated at the window, the view of Manoa was not an ocean view but it was more scenic than anticipated.

For drinks we had the white wine sampler, great value and exposure to different libations.

We has the fixed menu.
Tomatoe soup with fried cheese kalua pig sandwich was unique and very good.
Lobster and shrimp lasagna was good , a bit salty, but I like salty.
Onaga was divine, fish was very fresh and tender, great sauce!
Twice cooked short rib was a bit too lean and/or a little over cooked.
Our comp Coconut dessert was very good with great presentation and the chocolate cake was delicious too, it made our celebration that much more special!!!
We took the chocolate crunch bars to go.

Our server Jeanette (hope I remember her name correctly), majoring in engineering and working pat HECo, provided timely but not overt service.

She packed not only our leftovers but also provided us with some onolicious “lemon bar cookies”, mahalo!

We’ve been going to Alan Wong’s when we’re on annual vacation to Honolulu for 20 years. My favorites are the ginger crusted Onaga and the Coconut, but everything I’ve tried is excellent.

Came with a friend to celebrate my birthday. Service and food was excellent. The sourdough rolls were delicious. Enjoyed my ginger crusted fish, salad and the coconut sorbet dessert. Great atmosphere to relax & beautiful view of mountains, what more could you ask for.

There is something a little contrived about the service. Servers are pleasant but there seems to be a tentativeness in their confidence and a superficiality in their manner. They seem to be distracted while they attend to you.

Alan Wong’s is one of the best places on the planet. I come here every time I am on Oahu. My only issue is that he entire table had to order the special menu she an individual couldn’t order it alone. It want the policy a few years ago and I was disappointed because some menu items are only on the special menu. The food and service is always top notch!

We were thrilled to obtain a same day reservation at the award winning Alan Wongs and had a superb experience. From the moment we arrived the staff was gracious, helpful and shared their thoughts on special items etc. The meal itself was beautifully presented and - as anticipated - delicious. We spent a wonderful evening at Alan Wong's. Food was really good and also creative. Only the ambiance would still be open for improvement. There are many too many tables for this small room and the furniture is very old and old fashioned. Here is also some need for improvement.

Where to start. This restaurant deserves the good press it has gotten. My friend and I arrived at 5:45p and were treated to a 5 star eating experience that took about 2.5 hrs. We ordered the fixed price 5 course meal and the wine pairings. Oh my. Innovative and excellent are two words that come to mind. Whenever we go to Honolulu from now on (we live on the Big Island of Hawaii), we will make this a go-to dining experience.
