Ate outside during pandemic and it was wonderful.
Hadn’t been to the restaurant in years and was looking for someplace different for dinner. Remembered I enjoyed it in the past so decided to give it a try. Totally enjoyed it! Will be back soon!
This was the first restaurant we’d been to in a year(!). It was highly recommended by our daughters, and they were not wrong. Of course, the four of us had to sit at a table on the sidewalk, and it was a bit of a challenge keeping things from sliding off. But the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. And the food was outstanding. It’s French, with a little California influence, and beautifully done. I’m allergic to seafood, but there were several options for me anyway, including that day’s special of beef bourguignon which was very good. My daughters have celiac disease, but the server knew what that is, and all but a couple of menu items (like the crab cakes, which my husband said were among the best he’s ever had) are gluten free. There was even more than one choice of gluten free dessert. If the combinations of fish, preparation, and sauce are daunting, you can count on them to tell you the best ones for you, but not in a snobby way. The wine list is good, including a nice selection of dessert wines. All in all, this was a lovely little place, and we’re already thinking about taking visitors there.
The host did it all, greeted, seated, took our order, checked in on us all with ease and gracefulness. Felt very welcomed. Good was amazing! Look forward to coming back here again!
I Loved this place.. the food was excellent. I had the blackened shrimp over risotto and it had so much flavor. The owner is so wonderful and staff is attentive. I’d definitely recommend and come back to this place😍
Steak frites and crab cakes were delicious. Great service.
Delicious food at surprisingly very affordable prices. Great cozy romantic atmosphere.
Love the octopus salad and the lump crab cake entree.
Really tasty and a great value. We were the only ones that dined in.
amazing food, great service, unassuming restaurant with a good ambience.
Incredible food and the value was insane. Wonderful service and cozy ambiance. Highly encourage this spot to anyone and everyone. Will be returning and recommending. Thank you for an awesome night!
The food is delightful and priced right. It is an affordable meal out that feels decadent. My only criticism is that there was only one waitstaff person for the whole restaurant, but I understand they are trying to get back on their feet after the shut down.
Best meal out I've had in years. The cauliflower soup was heaven and the sole was perfect. Suzie was the BEST!!!
Fabulous steamed mussels and the salmon was perfect, rice portions and vegetables also delightful.
Food is a great deal and quiet location.
Very friendly service. Food was ok. Both of our fish dishes were incredibly salty.
Dined during pandemic so atmosphere can't really be rated accurately. Food was delicious! It was a very quiet neighborhood and nice quiet dining experience.
A favorite place to go- Andre is the best! Every experience is fantastic
Every time I am here memories come back of places in the outer arrondissements of Paris which I used to frequent ..... a true neighborhood brasserie-type eatery featuring quality fish dishes with just the right price and relaxed candle-lit environment. Love those crab cakes and the warm bread with pesto dipping oil!
Alamo Square Seafood Grill had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in all of the restaurants in SF.
Fantastic service and good food, with lots of specials
Excellent food and excellent service! Will definitely return when in San Francisco.
I’ve driven past this restaurant many times but this was my first visit, largely because for me it’s a “between neighborhoods”, being between where I’m going to and where I’m coming from.
Covid was the reason for our visit on a cold Friday night, which of course meant outdoor dining on a street with buses running by. They have done a good job of making the outdoor dining work, with space heaters, etc.
Despite its name the restaurant, which is more of a bistrot, doesn’t exclusively serve seafood. On the night we went they had a coq-au-vin special, which we almost had since it was so cold outside, but we opted for seafood.
We shared the calamari starter which was good. It was served very hot, with a crispy coating that wasn’t too heavy. I followed with moules marinières and frites which were good. The mussels were tasty and had the right balance of shallots and thyme. My partner had the fish soup which he liked; this was a good sign, as he’s a fish soup lover. The portions are generous.
The place is run by an affable French guy who was running the show, greeting customers and generally keeping a eye on things. There were several French parties there which was also a good sign and reinforced that the food in genuinely French.
This place was amazing. The seafood was fresh and everything seemed to cost $17.50! I ordered the seafood pasta, which came in a blue cheese sauce and was loaded with shrimp, mussels, and fish. We topped it off with a "Floating Island" desert that was heavenly. The service was perfect, attentive but not obtrusive. This place is a neighborhood gem. We will be back!
The food quality at Alamo Square Seafood remains at a very high level. We have never had a bad meal there and last night was no exception. Sitting outside, as mandated, is not as nice as inside, but our table was ready for us before we arrived.
I definitely recommend dining at Alamo Square Seafood Grill. Always good food, great prices and choices, and the dipping sauce for the wonderful bread is addictive.
Good food and service is over the top!
Wonderful little gem.. Outdoor seating was charing on a rare warm SF summer night. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced.
Came here with a few friends to celebrate my birthday. The tables were spaced out safely. The only issue is they need to build something to level tables. Our champagne flutes we’re sliding around during dinner and silverware flew off the table a few times. The owner/server was very attentive and friendly. Overall perfect spot to celebrate a birthday!
Perfect neighborhood place.
with Covid-19 happening, outdoor dining is a must. The food as always was excellent. The server helped us in choosing the right way to prepare the fish I chose that night. Thank you, it was delicious! Loved the smoked salmon salad that was added to the menu for the week. Arrived a bit early, since we didn't know how parking would be (btw, we parked less than a block away) and we were seated right away. 5 or 6 tables in front of the restaurant, although on Fillmore with a bus stop right there, it was pleasant and traffic noise was not bad at all.
Great little place in the city- labeled as a seafood place, it was more of French bistro with plenty of seafood options, as well as ribeye and chicken dishes. We ate at sidewalk tables, a bit unbalanced but it is pandemic dining and the food made up for it. Fresh bread with an olive oil pesto dipping sauce started us very well. The ceviche appetizer was fresh and full of flavor. The salad was decent and my shrimp risotto was great. I had a taste of my wife’s ribeye and my son’s salmon, both of which were perfectly done and accompanied with a flavorful sauce. The wine we chose was a rose’ and was just ok and a bit overpriced- but the entrees were reasonable - overall a great experience and a place we’ll definitely visit again.
Amazing food amazing staff.
This is probably one of the most amazing restaurants in SF. Can’t say enough about the chef and staff. They are incredible! Some of the most delicious French inspired cuisine.
Incredible all around
Food was great!!!
Lovely experience all around with social distancing. Please support this local gem to keep their doors open during this challenging time.
Great food great staff. Outside has a small view of the city
Good service and food. Outdoor seating was a little cool to start but was OK a little later. Outdoor heaters could be needed at sometime.
Great, homemade-like, fresh, yummy food at a very cozy, little, local restaurant.
I live around the block and visit fairly often. Food and service is consistently good.
They've recently added outdoor dining on the sidewalk due to COVID-19. We got one of the slanted outdoor tables (the only option for parties of 3+) which was a bit awkward, but manageable.
The Prix Fixe is a good value, although I do wish there was a bit more variety (dessert is always the same and fish / sauce rarely changes).
