Wonderful meal. One of our favorite places. We will return.
Vaccination status not checked. Decided we will not go back. Outdoor seating is available but tables and chairs are very slanted as sidewalk descends a hill.
Wanted to finally try out Alamo Square after hearing good things about it in the neighborhood. Clientele vibe was fine but food was average (chewy octopus salad, average Sole Provencale using canned tomatoes, here in California at this time of year?) Service was lacking. Waiter couldn't care whether we were there or not. Finally, this is the first restaurant we've visited where staff wasn't masked. I wouldn't recommend.
The restaurant was CLOSED! There was no sign of life, no sign on the door - NOTHING! I had sent an email earlier in the day and also left a phone message as I wanted to change the time of the reservation, but wanted to confirm the hours for their three-course dinner special. So I did change the time on Open Table. It is now three day later and still no response to my email or phone message. I wonder what happened?
Previously I had a very enjoyable meal and good service, so I was excited to take my friend for his birthday dinner.
Restraunt is quaint and located in a neighborhood of apartments. The seating is small tables with long bench seating with chairs for the diners opposite the bench, and since the place is small, it is possible to get to know your neighboring diners. We ordered a bottle of Viu Manent Cabernet to start. My wife’s starter was a spinach salad while I had the mixed greens. Her entree was the crab cake meal while I had the fish & chips special. For desert we had crème brûlée. All was excellent and at a very affordable price. We both highly recommend this place!
Nice neighborhood place and outstanding value. Outdoor seating is noisy and cramped - pick indoors.
This is my new happy place. Food and the service was soo good!
My fav bistro in SF - great fresh food in a relaxing atmosphere
Amazing value for the prix fixe menu. On the day I went, the prix fixe was cauliflower soup, salmon and risotto, and a dessert.
Have lived in Hayes for few years now and never got a chance to visit. Heard good things about this restaurant from friend few times. And it is exactly as I expected, great neighborhood restaurant that produces great tasty food. Owner is super friendly and service was great.
What a gem! We found it while looking on Open Table for a seafood restaurant. While small, the menu is more than adequate, and the fixed-priced three course offering is an amazing bargain for San Francisco at $17.50. The curried soup was delicious, the snapper was nicely prepared, and the meringue dessert was a treat. Service was friendly and prompt, and our server had a very good knowledge of the offerings, including the specials on the chalk board. We ate outside, so there was some street noise. Oh, parking was easy, to my surprise.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food is incredible and very affordable. Highly recommend to anyone who likes seafood. They have some of the best french fries I've ever had.
They didn’t honour the reservation so we didn’t go
The food is delicious and the prices are excellent. I had been there once before and was thrilled for another reason to go eat there!
We were in the neighborhood and found this place online. It is a hidden gem and we are so glad we decided to check out. The food was so delicious and the entree prices were great. The salad and dessert prices were a bit higher than we expected.
The staff was friendly and when we got there it was pretty quiet so service was great. When it got busy, they were a bit short staffed and the service suffered slightly for us, but we were just about done so it was ok.
I don’t live nearby, so I’m not sure how often I will frequent this place, but I would recommend it to anyone who’s in the neighborhood.
It was great to be back at one of our favorite little San Francisco neighborhood restaurants. The hostess was so gracious, friendly, and welcoming. There was no rush at all throughout the evening, although our wine and food came pretty quickly. Everything was delicious, especially the night’s special appetizers, a smoked salmon salad with capers and a shrimp ceviche. I ordered grilled Snapper Provençal, my husband had Fish & Chips. Those were the best chips I ever tasted. Highly recommend this restaurant, especially on weeknights when it’s a little less crowded and noisy.
The food was wonderful and the space was cozy. There was a group of people in the restaurant that were very loud and distracting.
The food! The service! Some reviews suggested service was a bit slow but we found that was not true at all. In fact, the staff were both attentive and helpful and the wait for our food was just right. Our family of four all enjoyed the authentic French atmosphere and the well priced and interesting wines by the glass. And did I mention the food? Wonderful seafood and excellent non fish options too.
One of the best neighborhood restaurants in the city. Great seafood at very affordable prices. Excellent service and ambiance - not too hectic
This is a very nice but still casual restaurant with excellent food at surprisingly reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
What an experience! Great food and service. The staff is friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our evening and will return.
Hands down one of my most favorite restaurants in the city. Reasonably priced but not bargain basement - with consistently one of the best waitstaffs of any other eatery. Knowledgeable and candor to say what's "not the best choice" and what is "best choice on the menu tonight". I first went here when I moved to the city in 2006 - and I'm a regular customer. I've converted folks that say "I don't like fish" by bringing them to this one of a kind beautiful restaurant.
Truth in reviewing: service was mediocre and seemed unfriendly at times. I think part of this is the guy who was running the show, probably the owner, was training a girl as a server/busser/waitress and she was very new to the type of work.
Food was higher in sodium than it needed to be. The menu has very limited seafood selection for a "seafood grill."
I have it 5 stars all around the above factored in. The price was great for the quality of food. A nice bottle of dry Riesling was priced reasonably and complimented the fish well. The food was well prepared.
Birthday dinner for mom: bottle of wine, 2 appetizers, soup, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, 1 espresso (which was pretty good I must say): $170 with tip at about 19%. Well worth it and I will go back.
I enjoyed the Alamo Square Seafood Grill because it had a neighborhood feel to it; the service was very good—friendly, helpful about the menu, and fast; the food was good (I loved my tomato basil soup and the grilled sole was cooked to perfection, moist and juicy); and very reasonably priced. I was bringing an out-of-town visitor to eat there. Now I plan to let SF friends know about this find. It may not be slap-up fancy in looks and style but I like that it was simple and unpretentious and served a good, solid meal at a very decent price. Hope it doesn't get too "discovered"!
Unfortunately this restaurant experience has been a huge disappointment. I’ve been there about 12 years ago and had a great dinner. Went back this week with my daughter for my birthday and felt really let down. Food was average at best, service was very slow and inattentive, and the price tag really didn’t match my experience.
Neighborhood gem. Delicious French-style bistro menu, with an emphasis on seafood. A delightful evening out!
The special family meal for four people was an amazing deal at $75. The beef bourguignone was amazing. The chocolate dessert was a chocolate-lovers delight.
Loved the appetizers and desserts. Entrees are reasonably priced.
I'm afraid this restaurant needs revamping in all categories. It's painfully average.
The tuna carpaccio was amazing. The mussels only so so. The fish soup was stellar. The beef and mashed potatoes was out of this world. The salmon and sole were excellent. Dessert was so so. Fun place. Excellent value. A local gem.
One of my favorites in SF
Great food, great neighborhood restaurant! Had a lovely night.
Excellent food. Noise loud and service average but great food.
The service, food, and overall experience was top notch. Food was out of bounds and the service was even better. Would recommend to everyone!
Fresh and tasty fish with provencal sauce. Great price, great value
Wonderful local place with quality food and friendly professional team. They also don't rush you out the door like most restaurants these days. Highly recommended!
The most affordable delicious food we have had in the Bay Area. Daily wine specials, tasty menu, and good prices; almost impossible to find in San Francisco
First time here. Very nice Father’s Day dinner. Had a good bottle of wine, fried calamari, which was one of the better preparations that I have eaten, and I get it wherever I go for comparison sake, and potatoe celery soup which was very hot and delicious. The main course we had snapper with Green pepper corn sauce. They tell you the fish they have fresh and you can pick and have it prepared either grilled or sautéed with your choice of sauce. Green peppercorn sauce was very good on grilled red snapper. Overall a very nice, lower key restaurant at reasonable prices.
What a gem. Great food, good atmosphere food was delicious
Out first time here and wont be our last.
