There were four in our party. Three ordered either chicken piccata or chicken Marsala but received veal instead of chicken. The veal was great but not what we ordered. A very apologetic waiter offered to change and one of our party did change to chicken. The place was packed and it took longer than normal to be served.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we had an early evening reservation. Didn’t know there was a performance of some kind that evening nearby and place was very busy. Unfortunately, it led to an unusually long wait for our main course. Wait staff apologized for the delay and made a small adjustment to our tab to compensate us. Service and food were excellent! We hope to visit again soon on a less busy evening.

Am Fresco dining is a wonderful experience. Whether you go for lunch or dinner, the atmosphere is wonderful. The staff is vigilant and you never have to wait for attention. The food is out of this world. It's the best in the area!!

This is the best Italian restaurant. You can't go wrong here. This is our go-to for Italian cuisine. The food is always delicious, nice wine list, and the service is excellent. Thanks for another enjoyable evening.

It was our friend's birthday dinner and 6 of us ate at Al Fresco. We always enjoy our times together there. The food was very good but I gave it a 4 because my husband's veal chop, an evening special, was a little tough but tasty. Also, our friend's salmon was also tasty but was small. The rest of us really enjoyed our dinners. We thank Al Fresco for a lovely celebration and a nice complimentary dessert for our birthday girl!

Great food, loved having the courses (app, salad, entree) spaced out versus coming all at once or one right after the other. Having a few minutes to talk and digest between courses was great and not done very often at restaurants anymore. We didn’t feel like they were trying to rush us through to turnover the table. Will definitely return

Al Fresco is our go to Italian Restaurant when we are visiting Tidewater Virginia from Florida. Our reservations were easy to make and our requests for seating and dining time were honored. Service was exceptional, with craft cocktails ordered within minutes of our arrival. All menu items were delectable and authentic to meals we have enjoyed in Italy. Dining was comfortable, unhurried and enjoyable. Each of the four diners at our table agreed that their choices for entree's were all delicious and "perfect." We were relaxed and satiated from our meal, but still ordered desserts. The house made canolli were true to it's Sicilian roots and with coffee, were a nice end to another wonderful dining experience at Al Fresco.

Staff was friendly and efficient. My wife and I both had lasagne; it was delicious and of such a size that we both brought half home to enjoy for another meal. Don't miss the Bamba's for dessert. We split a chocolate bamba. It is a real treat.

We came for our first anniversary and it was great! Nice atmosphere kind staff. Good took awhile to come out but it did get busy and the kitchen was probably a little overwhelmed. All in all I definitely recommend it! It’s a nice family owned spot.

The eggplant parmesan was delicious, great service and nice selection of wines. Our server was friendly and responsive. The restaurant was small and intimate. Service was a little slow but made it a very relaxed non rushed dinner. It allowed my friend and I to catch up and have a great conversation.

We have eaten here many times before productions at The Ferguson Center and the service was good as was the food….but….this time the service was awful. We arrived a little before our 5:30pm reservation and were seated. We did receive our “drinks” bread and salad in a good time frame….but at 6:20pm we had still not received our entrees which was wild mushroom ravioli. I went to the hostess and mentioned that but got no response. No apology or sorry for the delay; nothing. The server was also very quiet. I realize help is in short supply but some acknowledgment would have been sufficient. It is a nice place to eat but we just won’t be eating there again.

We usually choose to dine here when attending concerts at the Ferguson. We have a wonderful meal. The service was terrific. We will definitely return to this great local restaurant. Incidentally we love the linen table cloth and napkins.
