If you’re looking for a fabulous dinner option away from the Foodie Feed geographic bubble, strongly suggest Al Biernats Oak Lawn. With a very extensive & diverse menu, there is really something for everyone.
At the recommendation of the sommelier, we started with the escargot over tortellini and an order of calamari for the table. Both dishes were amazing, but pro tip is to make sure and order extra bauguettes to soak up the remaining sauce in the escargot dish.
Our guests orders ranged from Chicken Piccata to Sea Bass to Steaks and everyone had nothing but rave reviews.
With the exceptions of traditional steak cuts, all the dishes came with a side, eliminating the need to order family style sides for the table.
I ordered the off menu special of bone in fillet, paired with a fried lobster tail. While you initially think it was sac religious to fry a lobster tail, the spicy beer batter coating and creamy dipping sauce made for an amazing accompaniment to the steak. The bone in fillet appeared to be about 12oz, cooked medium rare and finished with fire roasted tomato and capers, which gave a nice briney flavor with each bite.
We made reservations 5 days prior, and for our 7:30 time slot, outdoor seating was the only thing available. While initially apprehensive about having an upscale steakhouse experience outdoors, this turned out to be the best place to be! Paired with absolutely perfect weather and operational patio heaters, we were able to enjoy normal levels of conversation with our meal as the indoor seemed to be extremely noisy!
Staff was extremely attentive as our table was attended by at least 3 servers. As we were wrapping up our evening, staff mentioned we should come back and try the brunch experience. …. So we will have to add it to our future Dallas excursions. — at Al Biernat's Oak Lawn.
This is an excellent restaurant that knows how to deliver a fantastic experience! The food was great, the service was great, and the ambience was great. We're new to Dallas and wanted somewhere to celebrate a Special occasion and Al Biernat's delivered! Steven (the maître d') was wonderful to work with and Sheila gave us great service all night. The timing of our meals were just as you would want, and everything was cooked to perfection.
We will return!
Food was delicious.
Always a great time!
All the food was great aged dry ribeye, crested red snapper and some other fish dishes
We plan on eating here every year we come into town - best in Dallas!!
A classic that never disappoints. This is a great place to celebrate the closing of a business deal or to begin a new one.
Wild Boar Linguine was very good! So was Open faced Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Beef Poblano soup. Excellent service & nice Heaters in Patio.
Fantastic service and delicious meal / Al never disappoints!
A great place! Always good!
had an amazing time, great customer service, amazing food. definitely going back
My wife and I were going out for our New Year's belated dinner. We looked at a couple of our favorite steak places and found that many of them were closed on Sunday night so se selected Al Biernat's. We made a reservation. When we arrived the table was ready and the staff was pretty prompt. The food was good but not top of the line. My wife had a filet and she has tried them all over Dallas and her assessment was it was all right. the major issue that we had was the noise level. the place was pretty packed and that attributed to the noise level.
Always the absolute best experience. In the 20 plus years we have been going there it has always been perfect.
It was a great experience from start to finish. The service, food , and ambiance was fantastic. Al’s never disappoints!
Had two people in party of 5 order steak and both were over cooked as well as the lobster.
For 110.00 for steak and lobster should not have these issues.
It would be nice to be informed about kitchen hours when making a reservation. I made one for 2:30 the kitchen closes at 2:30 . It’s a restaurant what else would I come to do yes there is a bar however it was my first time I was not informed of kitchen closing a reopening later for dinner.
We arrived 15 minutes early and checked in to have a drink at the bar. The area was overcrowded with little standing room. We had to wait 45 minutes standing elbow to elbow to be seated being told only that our table was not ready because the prior patrons did not leave after paying their bill. Once seated, it was another 15 minutes before we received water and began ordering. We expressed our concerns to Jake Harm, Manager. His only explanation was that it’s Friday night. I asked him why even make a reservation and he responded only by shrugging his shoulders. A restaurant of this caliber should not need to stack tables and should at least have a comfortable waiting area until tables are ready.
Server wasn’t very attentive or engaged but the food was great and everyone helping out with refills were great.
Always a pleasure to dine here..
The Al's salad was a game changer for me and made the overall meal better than most high-end steak places. Frankly, the salad could be a meal by itself. A mixture of shrimp, crab, hearts of palm and avocado, it was light, fresh and had great taste and texture. The steak was tender, flavorful and cooked spot on. The sides and dessert (carrot cake) were also very good.
One of our favorite restaurants. Great food and excellent service.
perfectly prepared food, excellent waiter, dinner unhurried, great experience. My favorite steakhouse in Dallas
Al Biernat’s never disappoints. The food, service and ambience are always great. I was disappointed to see that my favorite dish is no longer on the menu though. It was the Japanese wasabi crusted halibut. I ordered the sea bass instead and it was fantastic.
Great food and service and perfect for a quiet discussion. Steak was perfectly done and the fish was wonderful. Appetizers and soup were very good as well. Server and other wait staff were attentive with great service.
The food was wonderful albeit expensive. The one disturbing thing was none of the staff were wearing masks which in this day in time is simply inconsiderate and self centered. We could have left but by the time I realized that no one was wearing a mask I chose not to make an exit.
Al Biernat's (Oak Lawn) is a one of a kind experience. The Texas Wagyu Cheeseburger ranks up there with the burgers at Peter Luger's and Keen's. Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM.
Everything from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. Best charred NY strip we’ve had in a long time. The potatoes au gratin are a must! Loved our experience.
The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 instead of 5, is because I didn’t see a mask on anyone in the entire restaurant. So if that’s not important to you, go! It’s awesome 😎 Otherwise, maybe wait until the risk level drops below red, then go!
Good food…great service ….easy in and out with valet service
Best time I’ve ever had at a restaurant for NYE!
Great staff as always
Great service, outstanding food. 6 star rating
Al and Brad epitomize hospitality. The entire staff is extremely friendly, courteous and professional. Food and drinks are off the chart! Highly recommend!
New Year’s Eve at Al Biernet’s was wonderful! We got the booth we asked for and a great waitress! The food was terrific (the osso buco and sea bass). The decorations were festive and classy. Al even came by to check on our evening. Such a well-run restaurant! Five star all the way! Forrest was not working, but we were well taken care of and had a splendid experience.
Everything was amazing
The patio was spot on and a great place to people watch.
Food was very good. Service was decent but the meals and desserts were all served to the wrong people at the table so we were switching plates. Ok for a family but would be really awkward on a date or a business dinner.
We always enjoy coming here and we were not disappointed in our food or the service. Great waiter. We had the special of the day, Red Snapper which was cooked perfectly and delighted by the ravioli that was with it. The land and sea plate was exceptional on all parts of the variety provided and we finished with, but did not leave enough room for the fantastic PB and Banana pie, so good. The noise level is so high we were unable to enjoy a good conversation so we will have to request a booth or go during off hours. We were also very disappointed to see the majority of the staff were not using COVID protocol and wearing a mask, luckily our waiter was but we were uncomfortable with the lack of concern for the customers during a continuing pandemic.
