The service, food, and drinks were above and beyond. I surprised my husband with a birthday dinner. They had put a little birthday decoration on our reserved table, took a birthday picture with the ice cream and candle, and even framed our picture. We enjoyed the ambiance, the music, and had a wonderful Friday night. The kimchi ramen was out-of-this-world and so were their various sushi rolls. Highly recommend!
As, usual Judy and her team provided an excellent experience and added their special touches to make this anniversary experience wonderful, memorable, and so lovely and enjoyable. I am simply overwhelmed and delighted with this restaurant and with its management. I cannot recommend it’s highly enough.
This is our go-to restaurant before concerts. I don’t know what was going on last night but the service was horrible. It took almost a half hour to get our drinks and then served us apps which we finished and still hadn’t gotten our drinks yet. The waitress wrote nothing down and of course did not correctly memorize our order (why do they try to do this?) After 90 minutes we asked how much longer because we needed to go and the waitress said it would be a long time. Um, why?? We actually left and came back after the concert to eat our dinner. I felt bad that we told our friends to come here with us. We were all starving during the show!
Food was great, I even got there before the kitchen closed and staff was very accommodating.
decor is a little tacky in there so don’t bring anyone too snobby. food is great, drinks are good, service was very solid. hostess and waitress were as kind and quick as they could be on a crazy busy night.
Took over 20 minutes to get menus. Over 45 minutes to put in drink orders. After an hour, they told us they could not make an old fashioned or Moscow mule because it would take too long. Ordered drinks, apps and entrees from 3 different people. Overall, it was chaos. Probably never going back
Great menu options and delicious food. Service was great and loved our drinks. I will come here again and recommend to others.
It was a lovely evening & we appreciate the special touches. THANK YOU!
The worst service I’ve ever experienced. We were seated & served by the same person who seemed annoyed and overwhelmed. Everything took forever. The decor is odd & the place didn’t feel clean. The food is mediocre. With so many great restaurants in Chicago, skip this one. I would not recommend.
Great food! I live in the burbs and was nearby at a concert. I’m glad we found this place and got a late reservation for after the show. I’ll definitely come back!
We had an absolutely terrible experience. A table of six went to the restaurant before show across the street. The restaurant was somewhat filled but it would seem that they didn’t have wait staff or kitchen staff to prepare for their patrons. The restaurant is BYOB so we brought a couple of bottles of wine to share and it took 40 minutes just to get our bottle uncorked and our order taken. Given the delay we made it known that we had a show across the street and that we needed to be out in the next 60 minutes. The waitress advised that the kitchen was unable to complete our food in that time. It seemed our waitress was trying her best but she was unable to keep up with her volume. The service was an attentive the kitchen staff was far behind and the restaurant didn’t do anything to accommodate. It would have been nice to have at least the corkage fee removed from the bill.
Hosted a birthday dinner for my partner and a few close friends, food and service is always great here!
We were celebrating a birthday. It was a nice touch to have a festive balloon at our table upon arrival. We also received a complimentary dessert, they snapped a photo of us and on our way out printed and framed that photo! Such a nice gesture. Food was excellent, staff were attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Food is good, but the selection is limited
We have been to this restaurant at least 10 times and enjoyed it. However, last Saturday was completely different. The food was basically inedible and when we told our server she did not listen and talked over us. There was so much food left on the table we at the very least thought she would remove some items from the bill. We paid the tab, did not tip and will never return.
As always... an exceptional experience. The drinks, the food, the service... top notch. Judy always makes us feel special. Hands down, my all-time favorite sushi restaurant in Chicago!
We were seated in a cozy booth for a Friday date night. The excellent food, great dirty martinis, attentive server with good recommendations made for a lovely evening in our neighborhood. We'll be back.
Amazing food! And tasty drinks. The service, however was super slow. It seemed they were understaffed. The bartender and server was very helpful and kind, just too many tables to take care of. It took 50 minutes from the time we sat down to place our order...1.5 hours to get our food. And only a chance to order two rounds of drinks in two hours. It's located very close to the Aragon Ballroom & Riveriera, so on show days they really should have more staff working. We went to dinner & drinks before a concert and would have ordered way more food had the service been faster. So the restaurant suffered big time. But I wouldn't pan the restaurant, could have just been a bad day. Like I said the staff working was great and the food was absolutely delicious. Prices are pretty good, too. Next time I may sit at the sushi bar in the back, seems like it may be a better spot to get food quicker.
Truly the best Sushi we ever had with the best and a really outstanding service! Top of the tops!
It was the BEST sushi I've had so far!!! The selection, the freshness, variety, taste- wow! It was something! words can't describe the feeling! We've been celebrating the birthday, they took a photo of us and at the end brought a framed photo as a gift to our birthday girl!!! Such a nice gesture! We loved the place even more!
Creative sushi good enough on its own. No soy sauce or wasabi needed! I’ve been to other places in Chicago, but after ten years of exploring the restaurant scene, I still end up back at Agami. I’d say it’s one of the city’s hidden sushi gems and I highly recommend.
AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE!! NEVER a disappointment!
Good food but sloooooooooow service. Had to beg for drinks. Nice waitresses, they may have not had enough people in staff.
They seemed upset that we were there. The hostess just pointed to our table when she attempted to seat us and walked away. The service was prolonged as it took us 20 minutes just to order our food and another 30 to to receive it. The sushi rolls themselves were great! The service, NOT.
Great spot to get sushi in the area!
I had high hopes for this based on the reviews. I'm not sure if they didn't anticipate pre-concert traffic, but it seems like they were grossly understaffed. Which is odd, because it was a Saturday night and the restaurant wasn't packed, but the waitress was completely stressed (which made us stressed) and it was one of the slowest meals I've ever had in America. It was at least 10 or 15 minutes until anyone came by at all, and we were definitely there well over an hour before our food came. Crazy. The sushi was fine - the special rolls were pretty good, spicy tuna roll was so-so. The ambiance is cool, but that's not enough to make up for everything else.
Order take-out! We were seated for over two hours. Service was awful.
Great dinner before heading over to the concert!
Went for my birthday. The service was a tad slow with not too many customers to handle. Also, our sashimi plate the white fish was frozen. But the salmon was the best I’ve ever had. The birthday perks were nice. Picture with my friends and some tasty green tea ice cream. Was hoping for a better experience being outside of downtown
Thank you for making my boyfriend's birthday so special!
We got to the restaurant at 6.45PM, service took the order at 7.15PM and got the food at 8 PM. prolonged service, we missed the beginning of the show we attended too.
Food was terrific as always, but you must get more attention to your customers.
We had reservations at 6:15 and got in right away. We quickly ordered appetizers and our dinner. Our appetizers came but waited for our dinner for over an 1:15. Had to get to a show so we didn’t get to eat. Very dissapointed!
Our server was amazing and doing his best but the experience was horrible. The bar was so slow it took 45-min to get our drinks. Food was poorly timed as well, some people were finished eating before others got their appetizer. Some food never even came out and we had to have it removed from the bill.
Not your typical sushi rolls and offerings, but everything we ordered ended up being delicious. It was very crowded and it took us a while to have our order taken and get our drinks, but that was probably due to the concert (that we were attending) at the Aragon that evening. FYI That service may be slow if there is a show at the Aragon. Our servers were very good, I think they were just understaffed. Fun spot for a slightly different take on sushi!
Great food. Good choice before concerts. They struggle with cocktails/martinis. None of the 4 martinis we ordered were memorable.
For a Saturday Night the place was basically empty... but the service was still great... the waitress was attentive and explained everything to us.. will definitely go back hopefully next time its a little more busy
Good place for sushi in this neighborhood. We headed there before a show at the Riviera.
Really enjoyed the sushi. Good value for the $. The Spicy Tuna roll was the spiciest I've had and we loved it. Other sushi was really artfully done on the plate. Some of the prettiest I've seen.
Wonderful as always
We made reservations for 6:45 on Valentine's day, and showed up to be the 3rd table in the restaurant. They appeared to only have 3 servers, and the service was exceptionally slow. It took nearly an hour and 15 minutes to get one entree, 2 drinks and an appetizer. It took another 30 to finally get our check. They did give us two smaller drinks as an apology, but after spending 89 dollars on food, I figured the service would be passable.
