Spouse is gluten intolerant, and Aerie did an excellent job of providing and explaining choices. The scenery, food, and staff were outstanding for our Sunday brunch buffet.
Limited menu for NYE. The presentation & service did not match price. Beautiful restaurant.
It was my birthday and I would have appreciated some type of “birthday gesture”. I did list that it was my birthday on the reservation. It could have been a simple gesture like a card, small dessert, acknowledgment from the host/waitress. I ordered the filet but was disappointed to get to starches for $46.00. Why would you serve mashed potatoes and con fit potatoes? I would have appreciated a vegetable for sure!!! The waitress was great. She did bring Brussels sprouts at my request. All in all, the ambiance and waitress were great. The food did not satisfy me for the price!!
The hostesses were extremely rude and passive aggressive. I’ve never encountered anything like it.
The waiter and many of the staff kept complaining they had been there since 8am.
We come every year from down state. 8 years now.
We won’t be back next year.
This was our second year in a row eating Christmas Day Dinner at the Aerie. Last year we crashed without reservations and they accomidated us. This year had our reservation for 3 p.m.. The food was again amazing. Also the bread pudding on the desert table was to die for "YUMMY" and warm.
Slightly annoying to have to wait for a table when a reservation was booked a month ago. Once we were seated, everything was wonderful as usual. I was a little disappointed in the desserts, We didn't enjoy them as we have previously. The food was excellent.
Thank you for having us.
The reason I gave only 4 stars is when we were at Aerie for Christmas 4 years ago, there was a much larger selection of food including breakfast items since we went at noon and I assumed it was brunch. The food that was there was delicious and the service was excellent.
The food was about average for a holiday buffet, although I would highly recommend the loaded potato soup and the kale and roasted cauliflower salad. Both were wonderful! The service was very good, if a bit too cheery, but the curved, raised booth was not comfortable at all. I'd recommend you request a regular table. The coffee was served piping hot and was very good and the dessert table had many beautiful, tasty creations. My favorite was the chocolate silk pie.
Once again we tried the buffet meal, this time for Christmas and once again the quality of the food was the same. Almost all of the warm food was on the dry side and although not bad tasting just not outstanding. I can cook food just as good for less $. The best of course was the desserts because they don't get dried out and bland like the rest of the buffet. I guess for $35 per person (I think that was the charge) this is as good as it gets for TC area. I don't know because I do not go out to eat very often, just for this reason. The views are outstanding and service is very good so overall pretty good.
Maybe I should go there and try something off the menu and see if quality improves. But think I might try some other places first and find out if everyone serves mediocre food for $35-$45. Then I will know if this is the standard for area restaurants. God help us if I find out I need to spend $100 per person to find outstanding food. I will stay home and cook if that is the case, but I will miss those desserts.
When people come in and they are 6.5feet tall, please, please do not seat them in those little half round tables that have the step up. MY HUSBAND DID NOT FIT. It was extremely uncomfortable. Otherwise the meal was good.
Amazing atmosphere for an intimate and romantic dinner. The service was excellent and the food was delicious and reasonably priced!
The overall experience is very nice at this restaurant, entrees are a little pricey but the view and service are wonderful.
We dined here on December 6th for our Anniversary and we had a wonderful time, food was amazing and staff was fantastic. Everyone was nice and friendly and helpful and signed a card and gave to us for our anniversary. I would recommend this to anyone looking to celebrate a birthday or anniversary we had a wonderful experience.
Came for Sunday brunch. Incredibly disappointed! Most buffet items that should have been hot were cold, even poached eggs! Yuck!! Made to order eggs and omelettes were good, but not exceptional. Sweet items were not homemade, just so so and cloyingly sweet. Honestly, it was just not good for the price. Will not return!
Wonderful Thanksgiving Day buffet. Nice selection of of dishes and the quality was outstanding. Plan to return again.
Thanksgiving dinner. Buffet included traditional favorites along with non traditional choices.
Wonderful Thanksgiving feast
Fantastic evening dining with my wife .We were impressed by the beautiful Christmas lights along the road leading to the parking lot followed by a beautiful Christmas tree in the main lobby my wife had to have her picture taken in front of the tree. The meal was fantastic
Delicious meal and wonderful service (thank you Patrick!). A must when we stay at the grand traverse resort. We were a bit surprised by the recently updated menu, which was missing my husband’s favorite dish. He found something else that was delicious.
The food was excellent. Our waiter was very attentive without being overbearing. The view from a booth was good, however it would be outstanding in the summer when it's daylight during the dinner hour. You look out over East Bay.
Great Food. Filets properly cooked medium and medium rare and add on scallops were delicious. Our server Patrick was kind informative and not overbearing. Would definitely reccomend for a great date spot.
We were so fortunate to meet friends to share brunch on Sunday. The views as always were spectacular! The food was sensational, lots of it staged beautifully, warm if it needed to be and everything we tried was super delicious. Each person manning the stations proved to be friendly, cheerful and eager to be certain our wants were accommodated. Can't wait to go back again.
Wonderful atmosphere, fantastic food and marvelous service!
Once again, Aerie didn’t disappoint. Delicious food, courteous staff and an unmatched ambiance and view.
I like this restaurant but this night, they ran out of Fillet steak and substituted a NY for the same price and it was okay, just fatty. Not my choice and I never order that. Their menu was interesting and had a combination of more exotic meat like duck and lamb. Not many I think would opt for that so the fillet ordered many times over than the others so they ran out, by 8:00. Bad planning I think. But other than that it was a great night and I do like the restaurant overall. Great view from everywhere!
Great food, recommendations and menu. Awesome drink list as well.
Great food and service
Having been to Jamaica for several years, the food was not typical of regular Jamaican food. Portion also very small.
We choose Aerie b/c of the Jamaican themed special menu. It was very authentic and reminded us of our last vacation to Jamaica. I ordered one of the specialty drinks, didn't like it. My server, Chad, was quick to replace it with a different one that was much better! Portion sizes were perfect. Each course was served perfectly cooked and flavored. We didn't feel rushed and had a wonderful 2 hours of uninterrupted conversation and delicious food. I look forward to returning next year on my annual trip.
The food and the atmosphere were absolutely great yes I would highly recommend it to other friends
Great view of the countryside. Slightly limited menu.
Overall the food was very good and the service was excellent. The Caprese salad was a bit of a disappointment though. The cheese just didn't seem to work for some reason. Still, I would go back and would recommend Aerie to others.
Wonderful brunch would recommend to anyone around the area
Overall, very good. Given a large birthday party, the waitstaff was stretched thin. That said, a very good experience. I would return.
The whole experience was lovely. We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and we picked your restaurant for our celebration. It was wonderful
While the food was good, and the views were as spectacular as ever, I couldn't help but notice that the quantity of selections (and stations) were markedly reduced from our last visit. This will surely be a factor in deciding to visit the next time we are in the area.
First time at Sunday Brunch up in the Aerie and we were very happy with everything, from our server, Angelique to the food and view. The food was very good and the view is awesome despite the cloudy rainy conditions.
Enjoyed our brunch. Disappointed a few items were not on the buffet that has been on it previously (smoked salmon and bread putting). Overall we had a very nice lunch.
We had a reservation for 7:15, when we arrived it wasn’t busy but they all seemed rushed and bothered. Our server was short, spoke extremely fast, didn’t even make conversation to say hello. Never checked on us to refill our cocktails. The prawns looked beat up and small. The spread it was on looked like cream cheese but was way too much. Massive pile of it with 4 tiny prawns on top. Costco sells better quality. The presentation was thoughtless. The lamb was way over cooked and maybe only 4 Ounces at best. The filet tip app presented over potato purée, appearance like gravy and mash potatoes. Not appetizing in its appearance at all. The entire experience was surprising. We have had drinks there before and the manager was amazing. We didn’t complain, we make the best of anything. We enjoyed the company and paid our bill. I believe the manager, who served us in the cocktail lounge and then still saw us in dining made a point of comping our apps bc he could tell our server was stressed, we weren’t given much attention, and we had been there forever! By the time we finally got our bill and left it was 9:30 :(
WORSE dining experience EVER at the Aerie Restaurant and Lounge at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City Michigan. Had cocktails in lounge before dinner, no complaints there service was good and attentive. Beautiful view of bay & golf course from dining room. Made reservations 2 weeks in advance, requested window table. After passing several open window tables we were seated at very last table in dining room next to an open banquet area that had a party going on, very loud talking & laughter all evening, our waitress commented how loud it was. Our mistake for not asking for a different table. Waitress arrived at our table quickly, we each ordered $35 lamb dinners and she said would bring bread basket right out. Then it went from bad to much worse. Besides not able to carry on a decent conversation over the loud party.. our meals did not come and did not come. After waiting well over an hour and still no bread basket, no dinner or attention/explanation from waitress we decided it was about time to leave. Waited little longer then got up told another waiter to let our waitress know we left. Manager saw us leaving, apologized said dinner would be right out with no charge to us, please stay. We went back to our table and dinner was served. We were seated before 6:45 and got dinner after 8:30. Appreciate the kindness of manager, beautiful setting.. I would recommend the restaurant for that but could not recommend Aerie without telling our horrible experience. Food was ok. OpenTable was great.
