I was really disappointed in the food. I know they are under staff so understood that. The food should really be better for the price!
Our food was outstanding and prepared just they way that we requested, but what really made the evening enjoyable was our waiter Bobby. He was fun, energetic, and very personable. He is a top notch employee.
Not happy! My husband and I went in for a nice anniversary dinner. Our reservation was at 5 and there were only a few other people there. We were seated at a very small booth and I politely asked the hostess if we could sit at one of the empty four tops instead (there were about 10 four tops open within view). She said no. I brushed it off and assumed other families of four would be coming in shortly. When we left, there were other couples sitting at four tops and still a few open that we could have sat at. Then there was our waitress. She was cold, indifferent, and hardly checked on us at all. Also, she didn't bother bringing us a bread basket, which were being served to all the other tables. I understand how difficult waiting on people is, I've done it myself. So I always try to be sweet and considerate to wait staff. We didn't give our waitress a hard time at all and we thanked her for bringing us things as one should. She didn't seem like she cared and wanted as little to do with us as possible. Meanwhile, a waiter named Bobby was working every other table in our section and he was making all his customers feel welcome and comfortable. I wish we would have had him instead. The food itself was good, but nothing special and not worth the price tag. We found out quickly that you're really paying for the view when you go in. We won't be back.
Food was good. Service a little slow but attentive and friendly. View is gorgeous.
Last evening on vacation
good food good service. Would go back again. Wonderful dinning experience.
Amazing food, excellent service and beautiful view.
Our table was poor, right next to some very loud guests and there were available tables away from this noisy group. Why were we poorly seated?
Our food was delicious however for the price of the meal the service was terrible. I would expect much better service for a restaurant if this caliber.
We made reservations prior to arrival as we stayed in the resort. Planned on a nice formal dinner with my wife. When we showed up no tables were available and was to wait at the bar. After 10-15 mins my wife got upset and went to talk to the hostess who forgot about us. When we did get a table, the food came out separately. So appetizers were separate then it took like 1.5 hours for our main course. Once the main course came out, my wife filet was cold and my fish was semi warm but as it just sat once it was made. The views were awesome but that’s about it. Definitely not worth the money we paid.
Bobby Is hands down the Grand Experience we know from GTRS. Thank you!
The service was excellent and the atmosphere too.
You can't beat the ambience, and the views!! Service was very good!! But the food nothing special was very dissappointed!!!
Very understaffed. Terrible cocktails that needed to be sent back more than once. Charred filet that was supposed to be cooked medium. We went for my wife’s birthday with friends and honestly I was embarrassed to have invited everyone there.
Food was excellent, view was spectacular! The real gem is Jesse, the gentleman who seated us. What a lovely man - and a real asset to the restaurant
Had reservation, ended up waiting an hour to be seated after our reservation, only because a gentlemen at the bar who had given up on waiting for his table offered his spot to us, then sat at the table for 2 hours after to get a 6oz filet. Don’t book the reservations if you can’t serve the guests in a timely manner. Unbelievable.
Angelique and Paige…1st rate service and a lot of fun to banter with!
Veg was super salty. Portions pretty small. Desert was excellent. Sunset/view was very good.
The overall experience was just okay. It’s built up to be a little more than you actually get in my opinion. It started off rough as we were sat and waited more than 10 min for a waiter to even check in with us. So much of the experience is the first impression and this one was not good. The building feels a bit run down, and the base of the candle lamp was dirty with butter remnants from previous guests still smeared on it and the large dark window ledge needed to be wiped down as it was very dusty. These are all small things in the larger picture but the small details are where you fail in a restaurant. Food was fairly good and the wine selection broad but I probably wouldn’t take my wife here again on a Friday night.
We were seated at the best table in the house and the view was outstanding until total darkness.
Our server, Angelique was very professional , knew the wine list top to bottom and generally made a good experience into an outstanding evening that we will fondly remember.
Bobby was our server and he was amazing! The sun was setting as we were eating and it was perfect!
The Blackened Salmon, was better than my wife’s,& she is/was a chef.
The service was unbelievably slow! If we had another option for dinner we would have left in a heart beat.
We went for our anniversary. Beautiful view. Our server Bobby was clearly going for quantity rather than quality which is a disappointment for such a high dollar place. He was constantly making us feel rushed. Even went so far as to tell us he would like to take our entree order now, telling us there was a big party coming in and it would back the kitchen up. After we’d made it clear we wouldn’t be rushed, he tried talking us into the most expensive entree on the menu. We declined and our food was out not long after we ordered, later. We went out to have a nice meal, not to be done with appetizers, drinks, meal, and dessert in under an hour. The views can’t be beat, drinks and food were all great, but someone’s gotta talk to Bobby.
We sat for over 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. We order our drinks and appetizer. Next thing we know we are still drinking water and our appetizers arrive at the table. the night continued just like this, and so I could not with a good heart tell you to be wowed by anything other than the restaurant view and the drinks were good yet should have never taken over 30 min.
We typically have an outstanding experience but somewhat short staffed and conference attendees who were quite loud
Horrible, horrible place. Was very excited to try this and was sadly disappointed. It took 35 minutes to get drinks. When I was asked our server when we will receive our apps, he rudely said to me that he has to pass out others drinks and get bread to people, then will get to our app when he gets to it…. It’s been an hour at that point. It was 4 pieces of cold shrimp, there is no reason it should take an hour to come out. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy. Luckily, a manager came by and we told him we’d like the check and he could clearly tell we were upset. We checked out and were signing the bill when our waiter comes out, now deciding to be attentive asking if we need help checking out (when he can clearly see we are done). I told him we are all set and left.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. I wish I could recall the servers name so I could warn people to avoid his sections, but he is an older man. Very rude guy. Thank you for ruining our nice night out.
I was with the most amazing woman having dinner at this excellent restaurant. From the moment walking in and greeted by Tanisha, sharing a funny moment- our evening was off the a great start. The sunset was beautiful, the food was absolutely off the charts delicious. Bobby, (Our server) was one the best we’ve seen. He made our evening enjoyable, the service was phenomenal. David, the manager spoke to us making sure we were satisfied with the service and enjoyed a great conversation with him.
We highly recommend The Aerie, it’s a must visit when you’re in the Traverse City area.
Attentive service and the meals/dessert were very good. The portions are on the small side and dinner a bit pricey. Price that is paid for tremendous view and beautiful sunset
The view was BEAUTIFUL. A bit expensive but that’s understandable for a resort, and the food was delicious enough to justify the price. I had a delicious vodka cherry sour and gorgonzola gnocchi to start. My filet was delicious and flavorful. My partner got the special 28oz tomahawk steak (which was $159 but the only menu item over $50) and I saw him go through heaven with that first bite. Delicious food, amazing view, great friendly service.
Worth the view alone. Food is solid but not fantastic. Recommend.
Beautiful experience. My coworkers couldn’t believe the view. We had wonderful meals. Loved it.
The view is beyond amazing. Filet and brussel sprouts were excellent. We had a view of the bay and watched the sunset from our booth. Our server, Bobby, was great, nearly running to provide all of his customers excellent service. Can’t wait to return.
We went for our anniversary and we’re treated like royalty. Amazing food and service.
The view and ambiance are wonderful and all tables have a view high above Lake Michigan. Service was amazing; attentive and helpful. Overall, the food was incredible but my halibut was dry. The steaks, salmon, appetizers and drinks were all top notch. The Cherry bomb dessert was to die for. Our friend left his credit card in the bill folder and I received a text from the manager before we got to the parking lot. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a lovely upscale experience.
Great staff, great food and incredible view. Enjoyed a night out with out of state relatives here for the Iron Man…could not have impressed them more!
The food was mediocre at best with outrageous prices, and the server was rude. Would not recommend, and do not plan on returning.
The service was terrible, 45 minutes for drinks and 90 minutes for entrées. The only positive was the ambiance.
Expensive but worth every penny. Absolutely stellar service and food.
Menu was limited, but within the small sample size, had good variety. Service was good and the food was fantastic. I will be returning.
