If I could give 10 stars I would. My husband and I are from Chicago- foodie city that’s amazing. This was phenomenal! Chef Brian Petrick - very talented. We started with a charcuterie board - beautiful and full of flavor, we had the English pea and leek soup- amazing and so flavorful. Our salad was a lump crab and avocado with wasabi drizzle. And had the New York strip cooked to perfection served with potatoes three ways. Crisps, chunked atop mashed with pearl onions. Amazing!!
The trees and view were gorgeous. Omelette station was somehow better than most and overall nice
We were there on a night that they had a special Jamaican menu. We were so excited for the opportunity to try this food, but unfortunately, what I ordered was not good. The shrimp was extremely soft and overcooked and everything that was fried tasted like it had been made three hours ago and warmed up a little. Very disappointing, especially for the price. I will say that the bread pudding dessert on the Jamaican menu was good. The waiter was not very on top of things, either.
Our servers were both a bit rude and impatient considering that this is supposed to be a nice restaurant. My sister in law got the lamb stew on Jamaica night and it was full of bones - it had at least 10 bones in it. I was pretty disappointed in the restaurant.
We were so excited for the Jamaican dinner on Saturday. The first course was good-soup and shrimp. The main course red snapper was terrible. The plantains tasted like cardboard and the fish was so overcooked you could not taste anything. The spice cake was so-so and the cherry bread pudding was good. I should have sent the snapper back but didn't want to offend our awesome waiter from Jamaica. My group was excited to come back for the Indian dinner but after our experience, we are reluctant to return. The drinks were really good!
We waited in the bar for our table. Were told they would come and get us. A half hour went by with no table so I went to ask and was told, "Your table has been ready. We were waiting for you." :(
Also, not one of the food courses for either diner was served hot. All were barely warm.
And, waitress never checked with us after the food was served as to how things were, what we needed, etc.
Overall, disappointing experience.
We have been to this brunch many times. However this time was a little disappointing. Many tables had not been bussed. The quality of the food was not nearly as good as our previous visits. Not as much of a variety to choose from from prior visits. The risotto had no flavor and the ribs were not edible. Very disappointed. I would have a hard time recommending this place anymore.
Disappointed. Less food options every year. Need to bring back the cheese and crackers and meats. Carving stations. More desserts with whip cream.
We were disappointed in the Sunday brunch offerings. No pancakes, waffles or cereal for the kids. Lines were long due to the station arrangement
Fabulous way to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary
Brunch was delicious! Alex is a very gracious and accommodating host. Would recommend for Sunday brunch or dinner.
Very nice restaurant with a great view and food. Service was also very good.
While the view is very beautiful, and the service is excellent, the food is so-so and pricey. I wish they would up their game. The prawn cocktail was bland. The risotto tasted like someone forgot the salt/seasoning part. The desert had a very dry, tasteless biscuity thing (went with so-so creme brûlée.) I know they can do better ... they used to. We were so disappointed in the starters (tried 4 of them) that we decided not to order dinner. Aerie doesn't get this local's vote.
The view is awesome. And that's the ONLY good thing I can say about Aerie. The food is dreadful. I mean totally dreadful. And when I found something I couldn't identify, nor chew through, in my omelette, and showed it to our waitress, she said, without missing a beat "Oh, that's a cardboard cap to a bottle," at which time, the waitress who was changing a tablecloth nearby added, "They're best with hot sauce." Seriously. That's how it went down. No apology, no embarrassment. The selection of food was pitiful for a $23 buffet. And yet, that really didn't matter because it was all nasty food. And I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish with the desserts, but they were essentially whipped cream, layered with canned cherry pie filling; whipped cream layered with an unidentifiable fruit; whipped cream layered with smashed chocolate cookies; and, a sickeningly sweet lemon curd with 3 blueberries on it. We will NEVER step foot in Aerie again, and very likely will not even go to the Grand Traverse Resort.
2 of the 7 meals were not satisfactory. 1 was removed from the bill as he did not consume. The second was not removed from the bill as he ate most of it. However, the issues were both undercooked.
Aerie is one of our favorite restaurants in Northern Michigan. We go there every chance we get.
One of our very favorite restaurants. Every time we visit Northern Michigan, we make it a point to spend at least one evening here. Best views in the state, and the cuisine is amazing.
Had drinks in the bar before dinner. Bar staff were great.
Food and service were incredible.Great wine selection. Beautiful sunset .Very nice evening.
Absolutely enjoyed the ambiance, scenic panoramic view and was pleasantly satisfied with the food and service.
We came late in the buffet. About 12:45. I think the whole experience was pretty good but it could have been better earlier in the day.
Went for Brunch... wonderful food and service...the views are out of this world! Would be nice for any occasion. Make sure you make reservations!
We loved our appetizers, however we were disappointed in our steaks! They were over cooked. We were also disappointed in the potato, that also was over cooked and very small!
Pasta puttanesca was SWEET. No! Should have a bright tomato flavor and this was a sweet orange sauce. However, the other ingredients were on target and well proportioned. Everything else was wonderful. This is the first time I've ever had a disappointing meal. My husband's tuna steak was tasteless and breaded..weird. But the views still made it worthwhile. As strange as our dinners were, we will be glad to try it again. Lovely place.
Food was Wonderful and have great hours to open for a nice sunset dinner view. PBut recommended a different type and or softer noodle for the pasta. The chicken though was fantastic had a nice juicy taste.
I was in town on business and always try to do something fun. I saw the great reviews and the menu and knew I had to try it. The ahi was fabulous! Cherry toffee pudding cake was great and the service was the best!
Service was courteous, attentive, and prompt. Filets not cooked to our specs (pink-no blood) was interpreted by the cook as medium well. However, the cut of meat was of such premium that it was still tender and, at times, cut with a fork.
My wife and I have celebrated our wedding anniversaries each year here as an appropriate venue worthy of such an occasion. Kudos to staff and management.
Great view and service for special occasions. Limited Vegetarian options. Fairly pricey for a protein-free pasta dish ($27). Great wine list and craft cocktails featuring local wines and spirits.
This was my second experience at Aerie Lounge and both times it was excellent. We had the same waitress twice (Jenny) who is super friendly and knowledgeable of their products. The food is amazing, very unique and well prepared. This time around I got the rack of lamb which was cooked perfectly medium rare, as ordered, granted they will torch it if you are weird like that. So you can have it your way. My girlfriend has gotten the sea bass both times which is extremely good as well. It is not overly "fishy" tasting and they even let her substitute the toppings they use for the salmon on it. Which a lot of fine dining establishments aren't as flexible. The side dishes were solid and the plate over all was beautifully presented. You are on top of the Grand Traverse Resort building so the view is incredible - they seem to spread out their patrons so that you have a quiet and private experience. The wine list is extensive, with a range of cheaper selections to expensive. It is not outrageously priced but definitely be prepared to spend $25 a plate minimum. To give you a better idea one price point - the rack of lamb was $34 and I believe the sea bass was $28. The steaks are priced in the $40 range but does include sides unlike fancy steak houses. I suggest if you have an extended stay in Traverse City or looking for something to do for a special someone, I would highly recommend Aerie.
The manager, Alex was great! He was friendly, met our special requests, and full of helpful information. He took time to speak to everyone. So nice.
I absolutely loved this place. The view, service and food was amazing. The only area lacking were the desserts but everything else was just awesome.
Our server Katie was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu items. Food was delicious. The cherry toffee cake was the best!
Great food and service like always, menu has been updated to be a little more modern with updated sauces and preparations which is refreshing. We had an entree of the Tuna and also the Sea Bass, both were prepared perfectly. The view, especially if you catch a sunset is spectacular. We had one minor issue, the bottle of wine we selected was not properly chilled, so they pro-actively gave us two glasses of prosecco while we waited, turning the situation into a pleasant surprise.
Great Sunday brunch. Fresh omelets, nice salad bar, mimosas included. Beautiful view from the top of the resort
Very nice for a special birthday. Desserts looked better than they tasted.
Katie, our wait person, was very knowledgeable and attentive, and our dinner (Bronzini) was wonderful
This was an absolute amazing experience, great presentation, splendid service, and exquisite tastes!!! A must try!!!
Great food with a Woderfull view!! Menu has great options for gluten free diet.
Family getaway dinner. Good was delicious, server was courteous, attentive and personable. View was amazing! Would definitely recommend.
Desert and drinks only for romance. Both were excellent and the waiter very helpful.
I arrived at 8 PM for my reservation. Nobody was at reception desk. I look around and finally found a young lady who told me to sit anywhere I want. So did I and waited and waited. After 20 minutes. With nothing happening I went to look for the same woman and found her wondering around. I asked if she would give me a menue and if someone would serve me. She said go near the bar so the barman can see you. So I did . To make a long story short it turned out that there was one barman who also was the waiter serving about 25 to 30 people.
This restaurant does not deserve the reputation of being the best restaurant of a major resort
