The best. Had shrimp cocktail which was delicious nNY strip that was succulent and cooked perfectly hash browns were spectacular. And the cocktails I had Johnnie Walker on rocks and was given a very generous pour. So how would I rate this restaurant two thumbs up. We are from NYC and travel to Boston every December for a few days and always book Abe & Louies. Wish they were in N Y
The service was outstanding but the food was meh! I had the Eggs Benedict Trio. Unfortunately, the lobster was shredded and tasteless and the filet mignon was dry and overcooked. I thought the lobster Bennie would be just as good as the one Atlantic Fish (which was absolutely amazing and included tail meat) but it was a huge disappointment. The Bloody Mary was delish! All in all, I would come back to Abe & Louie's for a good steak and will visit Atlantic Fish if I ever have a taste for a Lobster Bennie.
We had a reservation but had to wait 15 minutes for a table. The food was ok but not great. The ambiance is nice and the service was very good.
Service was speedy and efficient. My cheeseburger was terrible--definitely not prime and was way overcooked. The bacon was cold and undercooked.
Had lunch there prior to Christmas pops - our server was outstanding. The food was served timely but not rushed and was delicious. They had a small "jazz band" there as well - it really added to the atmoshpere.
Definitely part of our Christmas/Holiday traditions.
The upstairs room was very cold, probably intentionally so to make sure the huge party next to us would drink themselves into a stupor, which they did. They turned up the heat after they left. Too noisy, and the service, though nice, is not what you would expect from a top-rated restaurant. The food was OK, nothing spectacular. The wine list also not as extensive as a top-rated restaurant, like other steakhouses in the area. I find it hard to recommend this place.
We went to Boston for a weekend, and since there aren't many good Streak houses on Cape Cod, we were looking forward to our dinners. Our waitress was wonderful, her recommendations of wine and side dishes were perfect. My husband didn't like his Rib Eye steak, it was gristly, fatty and tough. My filet was delicious, but a little cold. We had lovely seats upstairs at the windows. When we were seated there was a serving tray on my chair, which was uncomfortable. The seating was freezing! The people at the table next to us had on their winter coats, and I would have as well if I hadn't checked my coat. Thankfully I kept my scarf and was able to wrap that around me. The wine recommendation was a lifesaver!
Amazing dinner, fabulous service couldn’t have asked for more!!
This is my favorite restaurant in Boston. My husband and I last ate here in May. I was disappointed last night that my favorite, the prime rib, was taken off the menu. Last night we both had Delmonico steaks and potatoes au gratin - they were wonderful. I also missed the pretzel bread, that is also gone. The bread basket was very good last night, but did miss the pretzel bread. Also used to serve martinis with big "test tubes" of extra drink - those are also gone. All-in-all, still a fabulous dining experience with delicious food!
Enjoyed all the help, service, suggestions by friendly server Ken! Give him a raise and a day off with pay! He made the delicious meal more enjoyable.....
We had such a lovely, memorable lunch! The service was excellent. Th servers were calm, dignified and gracious.
Anthony was our server.
The service was good, but we ended up sending our food back.
Fantastic as usual
Amos was a wonderful server. Food was excellent. Drinks were great but pricey. Great atmosphere. Busy bar but nice cocktail waitress took care of us.
Had always wanted to try and Abe and Louies and was not disappointed. The food and service were excellent.
Great service. Someone was always at the table checking on us, refreshing drinks, etc. Food was great. One steak did not come out exactly as ordered and they immediately took care of problem, provided new steak perfectly and gave us a free desert tray to make up for it.
Dining by myself for lunch on a business trip. I wanted a nice meal at the bar and indeed I was not disappointed. The French onion soup was the best I’ve had and the French rose was great. Service is fantastic!
Great place. The food and service were both wonderful.
We always love going to Abe and Louie’s.. Ut is our favorite place to visit..
Another outstanding visit!
I like the atmosphere of these « 0ld style » classy steakhouses. Pricy, of course. Filet mignon and béarnaise were+++
Nice restaurant.Have been before and loved it. Steak was not great. First came overdone. Then came back proper but wasn't great. Would go back to give it another shot.
birthday brunch - yearly event at Abe’s. Always great service and delicious meal
Our waiter was amazing. The best lobster Mac & cheese I have ever had!!!
Picked this restaurant because it had good ratings on TripAdvisor. We probably would have a better review if we had been seated in lower dining area. It was my husband’s birthday dinner and we were in town for the weekend. Waitstaff was excellent- my fillet wasn’t the greatest, it was really loud and we didn’t enjoy it. We didn’t realize there was another seating area. When I booked with Open Table I did type in that it was for a birthday- overall not impressed with this restaurant.
Abe & Louie’s is our go-to restaurant if we know we want exceptional service, food, and ambiance. The bay scallop appetizer was outrageously good and both our meals were cooked to perfection. Our server, Anthony, was a seasoned professional who gave us five star service. I am not someone who likes steak, but I’m always impressed by their non-steak options (swordfish if my personal favorite). Every time we leave Abe & Louie’s we reaffirm that there is no better restaurant in Boston.
Always excellent. Steak is tender and perfectly cooked. Service is always outstanding.
Excellent food. We arrived a little bit later than we had reserved, and we were still able to be seated. It felt like the service was a bit rushed, but probably due to our being late. Overall, amazing experience. Will definitely visit again!!
THE SERVICE AND STEAKS ARE THE BEST YOU CAN GET ANYWHERE
Always enjoy the Abe and Louis experience but were disappointed that the legendary bread was no longer served. Really hope they bring it back as it is part of this institution and honestly is one of the reasons we choose it over other steakhouses. Would be willing to pay if they put it back on the menu as an option.
Great spot as always. Our go to for lunch in Boston .
we had French onion soup then boca chopped salad with steak, prime rib sandwich special
Service was amazing as was the food. Great wines by the glass!
Great spot for brunch with friends or a nice dinner.
Another phenomenal meal at Abe and Louis. We were in for brunch and ordered the filet club and eggs Benedict three ways. Absolutely amazing. Never disappointed.
We ALWAYS have a great dining experience at Abe and Louie’s. They never disappoint.
Abe and Louie's is always an amazing experience. We love the food, but also the service, always so professional. We usually go there for big occasions, like birthdays, graduation, anniversaries, etc.
A friend suggested that we try Abe & Louise when traveling through Boston. Very glad we did.
Herbert was our server and was extremely pleasant. They nailed it on the head when dividing up a huge bone-in rib eye steak, giving me a perfect portion of the lean meat and my boyfriend the bone-in part. We also split a Caesar Salad that was delicious. It was a very lively spot. Very worth a visit.
Great tuna tartar, whipped cauliflower and porterhouse for 2!
