Aarons Fishcamp Ratings and Reviews
What a gem! We stumbled upon this treasure by accident. We had the fried green tomato salad - excellent! My scallops were superb and my husband can't stop raving about his dish which contained lima beans. He doesn't even like lima beans and he ate every morsel. This is our ew favorite spot!n
Aaron's Fishcamp was recommended to my husband and me, but we were so disappointed!
I had made a reservation, and we were excited when we arrived, because the outside seating area had a great atmosphere and music. But the hostess walked us through that area, and seated us in their inside space. We were all alone there for about a half hour. She explained that I should have asked for outside seating, but since I am from another state, I didn't know that I had to do that. She insisted that there was not a place anywhere for us outside.
Beyond that, my husband's draft beer was flat, and the smoked brisket he ordered was a huge pile of tough, inedible meat. He sent it back to the kitchen.
We had looked forward to an enjoyable evening at Aaron's Fishcamp, but spent less than an hour there. Our waitress was accommodating, but the seating, food and beer made our dinner a bust!
Unfortunately, the night started out on a bad note; we had a reservation made onOpen Table for 8 at 7:15 but when we arrived we were told they did not have our reservation and blamed OpenTable saying they had problems with people using it. I have to say they did seat us but we did have to wait quite a while. I use Opentable frequently and have never had a problem so my feeling is it is the restaurant's problem. Once seated we did wait a bit for service but the waitress was great and the food excellent. We will go back again and hopefully won't have a problem with our reservation.
A group of six high school/college friends enjoyed a night of conversation and dining at Aarons Fishcamp The food was great, the server accommodating, the kitchen overwhelmed (holiday week end) and the location perfect. You see, we selected Aarons because it was less than a block from our hotel and one of our party has difficulty walking long distances. That we got a fun place with good food was a bonus! Also, they take reservations. The place next door does not.
We didn't know what to expect since this restaurant has changed names. We were very happy with our meals. The ribs were very tender, and I loved the fact that they offered brussel sprouts as a side. My husband had the crab cakes which were real crab and no fillers. My coleslaw had a little blue cheese added to it, which I really liked. Our server Sheila was very friendly as well as very attentive. We will be back soon.
Dined here last Sunday evening for the first time since the changeover from a BBQ place to a seafood venue. Although I personally enjoyed the former set up I must say that they have done a good job with the food here. The friendly and efficient serving person steered us to the fresh grouper which had just come in that morning. The fish, which I had blackened, was perfectly prepared and very fresh. My wife had the grouper tacos which were also very good. The cole slaw and cauliflower sides were also well prepared. the service was timely and the food served hot. Highly recommend this place.
We ate here in Christmas night. We were looking for a casual meal and it was a good spot. They have some good items in the menu but they try to do too much. Most of our food was good (ex. Po Boy sandwich) but we had to send the seafood chowder back as it didn't resemble any known form of chowder. Keep it simpler and it would be more consistently better.
Had Thanksgiving dinner here while on vacation. The turkey was the best I ever had! They have a smoker and the meat was slow roasted. Food and service was so good, we went back the next night to eat off the regular menu. The salmon was superb, as was the brisket. Favorite place to eat on the Key!
The wait staff did a fabulous job of keeping the hot lobster with melted butter coming!! This was a special birthday dinner and we were really happy with the experience. I really liked the complimentary valet parking, since my Mom uses a walker so thank you!
ps-maybe turning the air conditioning a little cooler would have been appreciated. Thanks!
We had gone for all you can eat lobster, after 4 they told us they ran out.I could not beleive that happned. I had taken my brother and his wife and they were very disapointed, when you say one thing and do anouther, that is not very rewarding.I have been their several times and it was allways great very disapointed.
Blu Que is a good place for lobster, fresh fish, and bbq. Their old menu was so much better (tacos were my favorite) but they have recently changed it. I have only been on a weekend night and there is always good live music! Staff is friendly and lively. If you are really wanting lobster or a specific fish I would call ahead to make sure they have it in stock that night as they only have x amt on any certain night... which is good since you know it is fresh, but not good if you are craving lobster and they are all sold out :(
Blu Que has great slow smoked barbeque plus other tasty choices, but the meat lovers will be happiest here. Pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and brisket are all top notch! It can be a noisy place, especially on the patio with live music very close to the booths. We prefer inside where it is quieter and air conditioned. We enjoyed the Tues taco special with terrific $2 tacos of pulled pork or chicken or beef. The pulled pork plate is a hearty meal of meat and vegetables to satisfy the hungry ones. Full bar service might be a better bargain at happy hour time. $12 drinks seem a bit pricey at other times. Go for the specials and enjoy the barbeque!
Stayed on Siesta Key for two weeks and ate and drank at Blu Que several times. The outside bar has live music , great happy hour prices most of the day and half price appetizers from 4-6(?). We ordered bison sliders, nachos and baked Brie , all were excellent. The inside dining is a mix. The first night (a Wed) we enjoyed a $15 Lobster dinner with the option of a second lobster at $10.! It was very good and the service was great. So we decided to try it again on a Wed, big mistake. The $15 dinner was now $20 which is still a good deal but the additional lobster wasn't offered. When I question the waiter his reply was its up to the chef. The surf and turf at $20 was just okay. The service wasn't up to par but It was very busy that night so I'm going to use that as an excuse.
Delicious seafood...some of the best grilled grouper I have had in a while with their delicious crab sauce on top. Went with a family group and everyone was happy. The only downside to my meal was the baked sweet potato; very overcooked and soaked in butter.
Dessert was a special for Valentine's Day weekend...a delicious chocolate cake served with a sparkler! Original and a great tasting cake!
Beach bar atmosphere with mediocre food. We were seated inside; the outside seemed nicer. The problem was that despite lovely wine list on menu, no wine was available except for undrinkable house wine. I was offered a free cocktail as an apology but don't understand why they were not serving any reasonable wine even though there was a full bar and full wine lat on the menu.
Just looking a place to eat a beef. Trip advisor suggested me this restaurant and we went even though it was 30 min far from where we were staying. It worth it. There was a guy singing and the environment was nice. Good service from employees. A beef was really good and also ordere salmon with sweet potatoes. Very tastefull meal!
The BLU QUE ISLAND GRILL is a bar with the most unexpected "bar food". Yes, they serve the most delicious wings and apps you might expect in a bar, but they also serve some delicious menu items you certainly would not expect. A stand out are their fishes made fresh and prepared wonderfully.
I whole heartedly recommend the BLU QUE ISLAND GRILL and can't wait to return. I would also like to add a comment about their friendly and helpful staff. Our waiter was not only knowledgeable but friendly, quick, and fun. He really made our dining experience complete.
I went to Blu Que Island Grill to check out the experience and try some new food. Initially, I went to try their Pulled Pork Sandwich, advertised on their special menu for $5.00. Well, it is a little more than that $12.00. I brought this up to the attention of my server who talked to the manager and she told me that she mentioned my problem to the manager who supposedly made a call to the person that did the email and told him/her to fix the issue. Well, apparently it has not been fixed. I went online again and lo and behold it's still there for $5.00. Apparently, the menu doesn't lie.
Besides that, the entertainment was very good. A woman and her partner played a great assortment of music.
