Unfair really due to virus affecting everything right now. We were disappointed. Food nothing like our first and only time their six years ago.
Waitress abrupt and distracted but she left and a man was nicer...too late. I believe this can all be blamed on the virus as it was the night before they closed. Maybe will try again..we live an hour away so it's risky. Our hearts go out to all those affected by virus.
This restaurant offers delicious foods prepared to perfection. Fresh ingredients lovingly prepared will result in a mean you won’t soon forget. The service is attentive, and perfectly timed. Thank you for a wonderful experience, A Cena staff and chef!
Great food excellent service, best Italian restaurant in town, always a great experience.
Amazing food and service!!! So glad I decided to come here with my friends and family.
Great food, great service in a friendly environment.
Always love this place, it never disappoints!
This was our first visit to a Cena, absolutely one of the best restaurants we have ever been to in Portland.
Service was extremely friendly and helpful, excellent food , best Italian food in Portland. I look forward to our next visit.
All the dishes were excellent. And service was also very good.
Mark is great, the food is great, and the vibe is great. It's all just great!
Food was nicely done. Noisy and cramped seating. The waiter was attentive.
A Cena is one of the great Italian/Mediterranean restaurants in town--specifically situated in Sellwood. Their food is always great, the owner always greets us and we get fabulous service. It's quiet, romantic and fun to bring friends to and the prices are very fair. If you haven't been, it's a must do.
The thrill is gone.......................................................................
Pretty good food, like the homemade pasta. Would have liked a kids menu with crayons for them to draw on the paper topped table. Seems silly that those things are missing from a place that touts being family friendly.
Always a great experience! Amazing food!
As always, excellent food and service!
The food quality is always amazing, get the lobster agnolotti. The attentiveness of their staff is also fantastic. However, the lack of wine knowledge from servers always leaves me baffled. Twice they have simply reiterated exactly what’s on the menu and walked away. Sometimes it’s just nice to talk wine at dinner, especially at an Italian restaurant. Not a big deal really, but to the discerning customer it can make a large difference between a 25% tip or a 50% tip.
This is an exceptional Italian Restaurant in the Portland, the food, service and ambiance is outstanding even when compared with the other amazing places in the Pacific Northwest. This was our first visit and will certainly be on our go-to list going forward you will not be disappointed!

Food was good as always and the service was excellent, great wine recommendation!
Two pastas, both poorly prepared. Way under cooked penne and soup like fettuccine.
We had our usual good food at A Cena. The service was prompt and efficient. This is one of our favorite places to go for special occasions.
First time visiting A Cena. Wonderful food, and great atmosphere. Very busy for a Sunday night, so the service was a bit slow. But not enough so that it would dissuade us from returning in a heartbeat!!
The food and service were top notch. The on street parking was a challenge but doable if you
do not mind walking a bit. Over all a gem in Sellwood.
Warm and wonderful. Staff at all levels were engaging and helpful without being intrusive. Felt like a regular on first visit. Food delectable. Lovely presentation. A crush of people but what would you expect?
Great place for a date! Went here after valentines day for and loved it. Food was fantastic and so was the service.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was a little cramped- but I understand that. The “prawns” were more like cocktail shrimp honestly but they still tasted delicious so if you can count that as a complaint that’s my only one. We both got the lobster agnolotti and it might have been the best plate of food I’ve ever eaten, and she agreed. Absolutely planning to return.
Thank you for your five stars. We will share your review with chef, especially your "best plate of food I've ever eaten" comment. Your review supports what we try to do at a Cena and the team appreciates your support. We hope you will return soon.
As usual the folks at A Cena never disappoint! Even on a crazy night like Valentines! Mark had a million tables and handled everything very smoothly. Thank you!
hi alcoveinexile Thank you for your five stars. Your comments are taken to heart. We are happy you were not disappointment. Mark has recovered and said he enjoyed the night as much as our guests.Your review supports what we try to do at a Cena and the team appreciates your support. We hope you will return soon.
Fantastic meal send evening as usual. Salmon was outstanding, tender and flavorful. I highly recommend!
Made a reservation on Valentine's Day because it was considered "romantic." Unfortunately we were seated in their "additional" space which required us to go back outside and down the street next door. Ambiance wasn't as nice as main restaurant; felt like we got relegated to the "kids table." (There were multiple tables of kids in this area.)
Sadly they messed up my order twice! And never came with my Brussels sprouts at all. Food was ok, not what I was expecting based on the high reviews. I will be looking for a different Italian restaurant the next time I travel to Portland. This certainly wasn’t worth the near 60-min drive all the was into Sellwood (from Vancouver).
