As always Chris and the staff were welcoming, attentive and provided us a fantastic dining experience.
Great service and atmosphere. Very accommodating staff and the food was excellent.
The food was amazing and the service was top notch.
Amazing, as always!!! Never, ever disappoints.
The pasta was something special—tender and tasty! The creative combination of ingredients enhanced each entree.
It was a fab experience form the food, service to drinks. The lobster ravioli was to dye fo as was the Gorgonzola romaine lettuce. I’ll definitely be going back to ACena!
My favorite spot in Portland....outstanding in every way.
Everything we tried was spectacular. The made from scratch pasta, the flavor combinations, and every thoughtful detail that created perfectly seasoned and balanced dishes. I'm going to be dreaming about the Agnolotti. Pasta will never be the same now that the bar is raised to a whole new level.
My wife and I celebrated our 18th anniversary with dinner at aCena, the location where our relationship began (when it was Assaggio). The food was delicious but our meal was incredibly rushed. We had cocktails, appetizers, and our main course in 35 minutes.
The service was friendly and attentive but I felt like they were trying to clear the table as if they had a huge line or rush coming in, which they didn’t.
Good meal but pacing was whack.
They also didn’t check the Open Table reservation that was noted as an anniversary. Opportunity missed for even a mention of the occasion.
Delicious, we will be back
Great food and service!
We went here for a date night and it’s a place we’ve returned many times over because of the nice ambiance, great food and good service. We started with some delicious, seasonal cocktails, then we had the prosciutto fig appetizer which was just beyond yummy, so good! We shared the lobster pasta, then I had scallops and my husband had the lamb, everything was really enjoyable. This is our favorite place to go for a dinner out.
Incredible Italian food and very easy to get a reservation. Coming from New York, finding quality like this is rare.
A must-visit for Italian food connoisseurs. I’d be hard-pressed to find anything negative to say. Wonderful meal, tried a little of many things family style and loved them all.
We went here two years ago and loved it. Our return visit was not good. 3 people received not to order steak quality. I believe our waitress swapped our orders.
We did not receive a replacement nor comp desert. Serious? She was a rookie server in a too nice eastery. I dropped $250 on dinner and the restaurant cannot have an experience server make sure my wife is having fun. Sad. I won't be returning nor recommending it, as Portland has too many sweet options.
We had a great time. Mark delivered superior service and was very accommodating when one in our party wanted his food warmed. We LOVE having A Cena in the neighborhood. Keep up the great work.
We were disappointed with the quality of the food and overall lack of flavor - especially at this price point. We ordered the sea bass (lots of bones) -$32 and the halibut for $36. The halibut was bland and we’ve had much better at a fraction of the price. It’d hard to tell the taste of the artichoke appetizer they had since they were fried. We decided to give this restaurant another try and we will not be back.
A Cena offers a very comfortable fine dining environment. The wait staff is attentive without being bothersome and the chef offers wonderful entrees and specials.
Great food and service. Only complaint is that it was an extremely hot day and the air conditioning did not cool the restaurant as well as we would have liked. Recommend the octopus and artichokes. The signature lobster ravioli dish was excellent but very, very rich so unless you are sharing it will be hard for one person to eat the large portion.
A Cena is a superb place to dine. The menu is fresh and seasonal. So many scrumptious options to choose from that you’ll want to head out the door with a well-satisfied tummy and come back the next night to have more! The octopus is the best I’ve had. Get yourself some while it’s on the menu. And, you must be sure to try the corn raviolini lobster dish!
Out of the world experience. Loved the pasta! I wish I had more room in my stomach. I would’ve ordered one of everything.
Excellent food and friendly service.
Great menu with simply prepared dishes. Excellent flavors. We sat outside on a beautiful summer evening. No one rushed us and we really enjoyed a great meal.
Took my wife and adult daughter out to dinner at a Cena. Service was great, attentive without being intrusive. My wife had the spaghetti, which was very good, house made pasta, fresh cherry tomatoes and basil, can't go wrong! My daughter had the fennel sausage pasta dish, which was your favorite! Mushrooms, cheer and fennel sausage, yum! Italian comfort food! I got the lamb pasta dish and was disappointed. They were pasta follows filled with a lamb rague and cheese. Not memorable! Overall though, great evening and dinner. We'll be back!
Superb cuisine and service. Waitstaff attentive in just the right way. Unusual dishes and not Italian American but gourmet Italian. Prices higher but matched by high quality food.
Nothing but good!!ambiance, services, choices, food, presentation
A Cena is one of my favorite restaurants in SE Portland. I know that I will always get good service and quality food. I consider this comfort food, not overly innovative, but good solid food at an very good price. Their pizza is great, I love what they do with their appetizers, they do a wonderful fried artichoke, great broccoli, the burrata is always outstanding. Pasta is fresh and expertly prepared, I love that they make their own Nocino! Bellisima!
I do wish that they would update their menu on occasion - I have eaten everything on their menu and would love to see a bit variety.
All in all - A Cena is a wonderful place to go for a casual night out for a good solid meal with great service at a fair price.
A Sellwood neighborhood gem. A pleasant way to visit with friends and enjoy Italian foods. We enjoyed the octopus and artichoke starters. The lobster pasta was heavy on the cream, but tasty none the less. The staff was willing and able, the owner was everywhere overseeing the staff, bussing table and amusing his customers - a show in itself. If you are in teh area of live in inner SE Portland, this restaurant is worth a visit.
This is the perfect place for regional Italian food featuring fresh pasta made daily. Entrees change frequently to match what is in season, and they are tied to a region in Italy. An excellent wine list for either bottles or single glass can be paired with food. The waitstaff has excellent knowledge of both wines and food and can make suggestions. A full bar and beer is available. A pizzeria is slated to open next door in a few weeks.
Once again a Cena doesn't disappoint. We so enjoy our dining experiences at this restaurant. Food, ambiance, service and wines.... wonderful.
It was an excellent experience from beginning to end however our waiter forgot about our entree to go so that’s why we gave it 4 for service
Always great food and service. The octopus was especially wonderful.
Food was good but way too expensive. My bill ended up being $80 (not including tip) for me and one other person, and we had one entrée and one drink each. The menu had very few selections, so there was nothing on the menu to order that I was excited about. I regret paying a total of $95 to eat somewhere that I can’t get something I like.
Service was responsive. Appetizers were both imaginative and well prepared. The entrees were really unacceptable. Pizza came with under cooked dough, the lamb was dry and tough, the gnocci unpleasantly raw and the eggplant parmigiano tasteless. A bad experience
It was fantastic. The owner stopped by our table to say hello and inquire about our experience, and all staff were superb. The food , conversation, and, atmosphere, and overall vibe were perfect for the evening.
A cena is such a quiet and lovely restaurant. I had the halibut and it was absolutely delicious. My family and I have been coming here for a long time and it’s always a good option.
Great , just as my first visit...the service and food where amazing...
Solid good Italian restaurant.
Pasta first class
Salads and fish very tasty.
Desserts at the same level.
