Can't recommend this place enough. The food is amazing, the staff is warm and welcoming. The service wow, can't speak highly enough about it. Your mouth will thank you, go, go now!
The food was outstanding, and the service perfect. Our whole party was very happy we found this wonderful restaurant, and will definitely return!
Tried this restaurant for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Have been twice so far and enjoyed both times. Good food.
My friend and I were well attended from the start. The wait staff were welcoming and entertaining. We enjoyed two of the nights specials and throughly enjoyed them. Great value of the money. We will be back.
This meal was delicious! I really appreciated the lovely gluten free housemade pasta😋
They serve a great Negroni also. I highly recommend their Brussels Sprouts & also the meatballs. We are looking forward to visiting again & try their Manhatten cocktail with more pasta. The service was great too!
Whether you’re going for a special occasion or a quiet dinner for two, aCena Is such a delightful place. The food is wonderful and the servers are attentive and knowledgeable.
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Portland. The homemade cheese breadsticks are to die for! They use seasonal ingredients, and always have something to satisfy everyone's palates and dietary needs. Our service was exceptional. Just a great place to dine!
Great service and the meal was fabulous
Wonderful dinner. Staff is friendly. Could not ask for more.
Poor service- mediocre meal
Always have a good time at a Cena. They treat you like they really care that you're there. The food is terrific. And now I'm dying to know their recipe for ciabatta - so good!
Great food and great service! One of the best Italian restaurants in Portland.

a Cena is a great neighborhood restaurant. I have always enjoyed their excellent service and menu. The ambiance is very nice whether for a romantic dinner for two or for special family occasion meal. You can't go wrong. This is my fourth time visiting the restaurant and I have enjoyed a different menus item each visit.
hi Yogi Thank you for your five stars. It is especially heartwarming to know you can go anywhere for dinner out for a special occasion or a romantic supper but that you choose a Cena. Overall fantastic. Celebrated my wife's 50th birthday with our 17 year-old foodie. We were looking for authentic Tuscan flavors with local ingredients and we found it here. The only thing we were disappointed in was the lack of quality Brunello on the wine list. Check that, they were on the list but out of stock. Food-wise though, the dishes were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We will be back!

Celebrated my moms birthday and it was a great experience!
Every dish that we ordered was totally delicious. Service was great. Plan on returning for another dining experience in the future. Thanks!
Food was very good and the service was excellent. We had several courses and the employees were amazing at keeping our table cleaned and renewed each time a new course came out.
If I ever need a last meal, it will be the Agnolotti. I had to close my eyes while eating so that I had no distractions from the sweet and salty flavors. Scrumptious! The ambience is semi-formal, but the servers were both attentive and friendly, which made it seems more relaxed and casual. Folks were talking between tables to find out what others were eating. Overall it was a wonderful evening with great food and great folks.
hi KimberlyS Thank you for your five stars. What a great way of declaring our Agnolotti to be "divine". We also appreciate the cross-table discussion and the planning the next meal. Your review supports what we try to do at a Cena and the team appreciates your support. We hope you will return soon.
This place exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds!!!! We are considering purchasing a home in the area and because of this experience alone, we have pushed this potential home way up the list. These people are fantastic!!! The food was excellent and plain and simple this place gets it!!!!
hi RichardW Thank you for your five stars. Thanks for your expressive and kind words. I don't think that I have heard that a Cena could be in a sales pitch for our realtors. Your review supports what we try to do at a Cena and the team appreciates your support. We hope you will return soon.
Very disappointed. The grilled octopus was excellent, but everything else was lackluster. The risotto was boring and had mushroom pieces that were too chunky. Unpleasant texture. Flavor was nondescript. The tiramisu was watery and had nothing going for it except sweetness. Service was mediocre. The dining room lights kept flickering and going from extremely dim to glaringly bright. Noise level was high, so we had difficulty hearing our conversations. Overall, this was not the restaurant I remembered. Will not be returning.
Must be great, we were visiting Portland and ate here two out of the three nights.

It is not easy to find a good Italian restaurant in Portland. a Cena is probably one of the few restaurants that make the cut- a place that we wouldn't feel embarrassed to bring our friends or colleagues to. Of course, it is expected that the good quality and taste will come at a price tag (sigh)... but that is probably because I decided to order a nice bottle of Italian red. The restaurant is targeting a more middle-aged, affluent crowd, although I did see also some beautiful looking, preppy millennials. The two ladies who usher the clientele were very beautiful. The servers were mostly very professional. The senior manager (or owner?) was visiting some of the tables and giving a good amount of attention to the regular customers. I took a sneak peak at the kitchen area, and it was so wonderfully organized, super clean, bright, beautiful. I rarely see a kitchen that looks so tidy. The chef is truly a person with a holistic aesthetic sense beyond just the culinary arts.
hi LifestyleBlog Thank you for your four stars. Chef Gabe will see this review so as to appreciate your comment about his kitchen. Organization is one of his top priorities. Your review supports what we try to do at a Cena and the team appreciates your support. We hope you will return soon.
My wife favorite place, great food and service!
The food at this restaurant is outstanding. Every dish was delicious. I do have to note that the portion sizes are, for the most part, small. If you go, I recommend ordering three courses. The only large portion among our party of four was a salad that someone ordered. I had the delicious lamb chops for my main course but they were small and thin and there were only four of them.
We were disappointed. The food was ok, but not great. The cypress was quite good, but the panzanella and straccoto were disappointing. The bread in the panzanella was simply cut up--not grilled and thus flat tasting, and the short ribs came in a clump. The cannoli filling was leaden--like Philadelphia cream cheese instead of ricotta and mascarpone. We hadn't been there in several years, and it wasn't as good as we remembered.
The food and service were great. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I was disappointed with the ambiance, though, because The food was so good I felt I should be in Italy ! !
I was surprised by the poor quality of the cooking we had. The seafood (shrimp in fritto misto and lobster in a pasta dish) was overcooked and rubbery. The artichoke appetizer was tough, and a ravioli dish with corn filling was saccharine in its sweetness. I hope this was an off night in the kitchen but we won’t be back for a while, there are too many good restaurants out there. Everything else about the dinner was fine but the food has to taste good.
Food was phenomenal and service was attentive and gracious! We will definitely be back!
Great food. Wonderful service. Attention by the owner.

The food was wonderful. love the half size pasta portions, wait staff was attentive and thorough, just a lovely meal.
2nd time that my best friend and I have eaten there and it didn't disappoint. The octopus is off the charts. Perfectly grilled, tender and flavorful. I had the pasta special. The pasta itself was a thin with a bit of chew with a tasty pork sagu. The waitstaff was attentive, but not over-bearing. Our waitress gave a great recommendation for a glass of red wine. All around another great experience.

Onion rings to die for. Tuscan Mule is phenomenal. The eggplant parm is perfect crunchy and dressed like pizza. Scallops expensive for only two, but very flavorful. Butterscotch Budino. That’s all you need to know.
Amazing food + great service
We had the Frio Mistook and the Romano salads to share. They are both excellent. For the main dishes we have the lobster and raviollini, the crab pasta and the parmigiana (all dinner size). While the lobster and crab dishes are expensive but there were lots of lobster and crab meat. We also ordered a number of cocktails and drinks. It was a great dinner which every one enjoyed.
Authentic, rustic and refined thoughtful, delicious food. (Also, great to have gluten free options)
Romantic and inviting ambience + Excellent service. We love this neighborhood spot!

The servers were friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. I had mezza Luna pasta with braised short rib stuffing and a meat reduction sauce. My wife’s eggplant parmigiana was perfect. Dessert was affogato with homemade gelato. I had budino, an intense butterscotch pudding. The owner came by as we were leaving to check on our dining experience.
We sat outside which was nice. The service was excellent. The octopus appetizer was amazing as was the caprese. Our entrees were nothing special and really lacked the depth of flavor we expected. It was a slow Tuesday so maybe there was a different chef than on busier nights.
We had a great meal and outstanding service
Outstanding food and service
